Hostel Facilities:

We have 4 hostels for the first year and 1 hostel for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th years. You will be required a good CGPA in the first year to get hostels in upcoming years. Every necessary facility has been provided in the room, such as wardrobe, windows, ethernet port, tube lights, night bulb, and hanger. Mess is run by students, so the menu will be good enough and quality will be average. Registration for the hostel will be easy, you will be provided a form to fill and if you have been selected for a hostel, you can shift immediately. However, chances are you will not get food immediately and will have to wait 2-4 days to get food.

Campus Life:

Life on campus is pretty chill, you will be studying mostly during your exam time because there are plenty of things to do in college. We have a music club, sports clubs, and programming club, and fests are also arranged every year. We have central India's largest cultural and tech fests. All clubs, and social groups are managed by students only. There will be every book in the library you want to read. Classrooms are moderate, not so bad, not so good. Senior classrooms have ACs. We have fests like Eclectica, Samar, Shruti, and Aavartan.

Campus Life:

Campus Life at NIT Raipur is good I would say you can find like-minded people, join clubs, and take part in club activities. There are also fests held every year and the environment during the fest is very pleasing events are going on in every ground and garden everyone takes part in different activities it all feels worth it once you experience it yourself. The library is not well maintained here during the exams there is always a scarcity of books so you will have to face this difficulty during the exams, there are many libraries nearby the college from where you can issue books. The classrooms are well facilitated for the students there are smartboards, projectors and blackboards, there are also AC classrooms but they are for senior years. The sports are very good at NIT Raipur it's one of the strong points is there are always friendly matches between different braches on campus be it football or cricket or volleyball and many more sports.

The hostel facilities of NIT Raipur are good. The hostel rooms are two-seater and 3-seater. Hostels - A, B, D, and F for first-year students. Hostel E and G are for first-year girls. A and B are specious. D and F are a little congested in comparison. The institute provides all the basic facilities.

Mess food is decent. Mostly north-Indian food is provided. Everyone gets used to the mess food after a while.

You should choose NIT Rourkela for a B.Tech. It is a reputed NIT with a great placement record. NIT Rourkela placements 2022 had witnessed the average CTC of INR 20.88 LPA. The highest CTC offered this year was INR 46.08 LPA. Reputed companies such as VISA, Google, Apple, etc. took part in the placement drive.

If you are getting CSE/EE/ECE, you should definitely choose NIT Rourkela.

NIT Raipur offers a great Mechanical Engineering program. The department has a dedicated faculty pool. Professors are well-experienced in their field. Placements are good for Mechanical. The average package received by the students is around INR 7-8 LPA. Companies such as Deloitte, L&T, Hero MotoCorp, etc. take part in the NIT Raipur placements. Many students also get recruited by non-core companies. The department has many clubs such as SAE group and Robotics club.

My brother completed his B. Tech in Biotechnology from NIT Raipur in May 2016. The reason for choosing it was because of the brand value. But after being in the college and started taking interest in the studies and various activities, it went on to be a great 4-year long journey.

  • Biotechnology is an amazing subject with many interdisciplinary projects coming up your way. You can always combine your knowledge of biotechnology with other fields, like Electronics,

It is a trustworthy institute for CSE. You will have to work yourself to achieve something big.

Companies that visit NIT Raipur include some good names but not the high-end ones like Google, Facebook but the ones like Oracle, Samsung, Infosys, CTS, CIL, BPCL, Mu-Sigma, Polaris, Yodlee, Analytics Quotient, Tricon Infotech, Capgemini, Wipro, Barclays, Amazon, Pradan, Resonance, etc.

The number and level of the companies which visit the campus is going to go up in the coming years. The institute is fast developing in every aspect, be it infrastructure or the quality of students taking admission each year.

With a score of 170 in JEE Main, you have a pretty good chance of getting admission in CSE through the home state quota. You might even end up getting some other branches like EE, ECE, etc.

One of my friends has passed the third year from CSE, NIT Raipur, and is interning with the UnitedHealth Group, the sixth on the Fortune 500 list of companies.

Maximum cutoff ranks for NIT Raipur admission varies based on several factors such as branch, category of students, academic year, etc. According to the cutoff trends, students get admission for Biomedical or Biotech with ranks as high as 60k. Your domicile will also be an influencing factor, for the required cutoff.

There are quite a few pros and cons of NIT Raipur. As you have asked about the cons, let me provide you with a few of the drawbacks that come with staying at NIT Raipur.

  • Starting off with the first drawback is the size of the college campus. It is not as big as the other NITs or IITs.
  • As far as fests and events are concerned, you will have to run behind a lot of faculties to give you permission even for the smallest thing.
  • When it comes to food, the tea is definitely great but the quality of the food is directly dependent on the worker’s mood.
  • Coming to the worst thing on this list is the Wi-Fi. There are quite a few sites that are blocked – not youtube though- and the speed can get extremely low as well, almost below the speed of the Internet Explorer.

A few students are also known to complain about the allotment of hostel facilities. Only 30% of students are allotted the hostel on the basis of merit. This could be another major drawback.

Assuming you don’t have any preferences currently in joining any of the clubs at the college, let me help you out by being as lucid as possible. If you are primarily looking for fields like singing, dancing, or literature, clubs like Raaga, Nrityam, and Literati will be your default choices. Also, always keep in mind that the club management certificates you get in your senior years will always be useful in the future.

Now, here are some parameters you can consider before planning on joining any of the clubs at NIT Raipur:

  • Learning/Passion: You should figure out what plan to gain from joining a particular club, how it will help you achieve your future goals. Additionally, do you feel good after joining the club? It should be able to help you gain confidence, build your abilities, hone them and also bring them out. If you are looking to be a journalist in the future, PMRC will be good for you. If you are looking at sports, you can go to Shaurya.
  • Diversity: Make sure that the club you join is not biased towards a single department. This happened with the Innovation cell that includes mainly students from biomedical sciences who do not contribute at all to the point of the club. Some other clubs are dominated by CS/IT/EC/MME students which will not help your cause at all. Make sure that there is diversity in the club you join.
  • Time Value: A few clubs like Technocracy, Samskruti, and E-Cell mainly focus on labor during fests. If you are a first-year student, they will exploit your eagerness to do things. While working during the fest is Technocracy and Samskruti’s job, E-cell was more about entrepreneurship. In other words, don’t work for a club till your interest are satisfied because some clubs will make you volunteer for them and won’t let you join till your second year.

In my opinion, some of the best clubs are NCC, NSS, PMRC, and Raaga. I-Cell, E-Cell, and Nrityam are not that great.

  • He has also been awarded a Distinguished fellowship of Institute of Directors, IIChe – Honorary Fellowship of the Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers, CEPM, and PMA fellowship for excellence in Project management, etc.

  • Mr. Vasudeva is also a sports enthusiast and is the President of the All India Public sector Sports Promotion Club.
  • He has won a number of accolades and awards given by top companies like NDTC, Gujarat Industries Ltd., SCOPE excellence award, and much more.

He is quite the achiever and definitely one of the shining stars of NIT Raipur.

Yash Srivastava and his brother, Harsh Srivastava from NIT Raipur were definitely able to bag the tremendous offer of 75 LPA because they had been working hard. If you heard of Codechef, there’s a possibility that you may have heard about them.

They were in the top 2 positions for coding in the institute during their time, at the institute. Other students used to fight for the 3rd spot. That’s because they were the best in coding. They have worked hard to learn algorithms with the help of the internet.

I have a friend who was in the same batch with them. According to him, they used to solve coding problems every day.

I don’t know much about their interview but they loved to do coding.
