MY course in civil engineering, the faculty-student ratio is quite low as faculty are barely sufficient to full fill all the posts for the different courses no extra faculty are there at the college campus. Qualification of faculty are PhD holders and are good at teaching they have the ability to make every concept understandable to every student. the exam duration is in every 2 months there is an exam mid sem and at end, sem and the difficulty is if we attend class attentively and by a little effort we can score good marks so it is not that hard.

And my interest was in its side so I choose the ECE branch. Student ratio 8:2 boys: girls. And the faculty is good and those are good and sometimes uses projector which is useful and labs facilities also good. And exams are a bit difficult but if we study hard for 10 days we can pass easily.

Exams are conducted frequently every semester and yes we can pass the exams with average marks.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I have a deep interest in electronics so I opted for this course also the course curriculum here will not at all help you in gaining knowledge for core subjects so mostly you have to study on your own. There are 6 subjects per semester of ECE up to the 6th sem and there is only one faculty allotted for each subject. There is a tutorial for each subject which is mostly taken by TAs. All the faculties are highly educated Ph.D. in their respective specialization. Most of the faculties are graduated from NITs/IITs. Their teaching method is quite orthodox They will provide you with notes from which the maximum number of questions were asked in the exams. Blackboard /Whiteboard / Projector is the mode of teaching. There are 2 main term exams - Midsem and Endsem. These exams are conducted every 3 months. There are minor tests and IAT (Internal Assessment Test) which are taken in between the term exams. The exams are quite easy to pass if you follow class notes and attend every lecture.

Though the amount of knowledge and teaching techniques make the teaching staff above a good no. of NITS teaching staff. Ques
Which is better, NIT Silchar, NIT Agartala, or NIT Mizoram?

● Top Answer By Sudipta Ghose on 26 Jul 21

Ans
One of my close friends graduated from the CSE department of NIT Agartala. I have friends from NIT Silchar and NIT Mizoram as well. Based on what I heard from them, I will say that NIT Silchar is a better option. The reasons why NIT Silchar is better than the other two institutes are as follows. NIT Silchar is ranked better than NIT Agartala and NIT Mizoram by NIRF. NIT Silchar has a better placement record. Students mostly prefer NIT Silchar over NIT Agartala and NIT Mizoram. So, it has a better opening and closing JEE/AIEEE ranks. The difference between NIT Silchar and NIT Agartala is minimal. Both of these two are tier 2, old NITs and have similar pros and cons. NIT Silchar is marginally better than Agartala. However, the latter is catching up quite quickly. NIT Agartala has the only supercomputer in the North East. ISRO has opened an incubation center in NIT Agartala, which is the first in India. Even, few companies choose to conduct joint placement drives for NIT Agartala and NIT Silchar. So, there is not much difference between NIT Silchar and NIT Agartala. If you are getting your preferred branch at NIT Agartala, don’t choose NIT Silchar over it. As for NIT Mizoram, it is a fairly new institute and needs time to catch up with the other two institutes.

Ques
Which one is better for CSE: NIT Silchar, NIT Hamirpur or UPES Dehradun?

● Top Answer By Subham Gaur on 21 Apr 21

Ans
NIT Silchar is one of the top engineering colleges in India. Recently in NIRF Ranking by MHRD, NIT Silchar holds 46th rank among best engineering Institutes in the country. My brother is from NIT Silchar and this is the best thing that ever happened to him. But also every institute has its own advantages and disadvantages. Pros: Weather: Pristine green and calm climate, No pollution, Beautiful lakes, and amazing tea gardens. Professors: The teachers here are extremely friendly. They will advise you on your future choices and point you in the right direction. Other Activities: Apart from your academics, you have the freedom to explore your hobbies or create new ones, develop other skills, go on a tour to nearby amazing places like Mizoram, Shillong, Sikkim, Twang, and so on.  Internet: The best thing among all facilities is unlimited internet access. Many colleges have high-speed internet, but they do not provide unlimited access without a time limit. Placement: Many notable companies visit the campus every year for good placements like Samsung, Goldman Sachs, L&T, Flour Daniell, Snapdeal, Gammon, BPCL, HPCL, Reliance JIO, etc. Start-up Culture: NIT Silchar has recently established a startup center under the Government of India to promote entrepreneurship among students and in surrounding areas, with the goal of being a Job Creator rather than a Job Seeker.  Festivals and Celebrations: All the festivals are celebrated on college campuses like Diwali, Bihu, Holi, etc. This college also organize cultural fests every year such as the Technical festival — Tecnoesis, Cultural festival, Incandescence and Posua, Management festival, Paarbon, Innovation festival. Cons: In-time for girls: Girls are not allowed to go out after 8 P. M. Food: Be it mess or canteens or restaurants in the city you will crave good food. People will tell you about a few restaurants for their amazing food, but they will not tell you about their food serving time. But if you have Subway on your campus then there is no problem. I hope my answer is helpful to you.

Ques
Which is the best, IIEST Shibpur or NIT Silchar?

● Top Answer By Arjun Mehta on 14 Jul 21

Ans
Beyond any doubt, IIEST Shibpur and NIT Silchar are good colleges but when it comes to the ranking IIEST Shibpur stands at 17th NIRF ranking while NIT Silchar at 53rd rank. It is better than NIT Silchar in terms of education, faculty, placements, and infrastructure. The college has a very welcoming atmosphere and beautiful infrastructure situated near the banks of river Ganga. The academics at the college are really worth it. All the faculty members and all the students are studious. You will get hands-on experience through various mini-projects assigned at the end of the first year and the knowledge gained on the various advanced topics is very helpful in the third year. The campus of IIEST Shibpur is a completely ragging-free zone where no student is harassed and if any such case is found strict actions are taken immediately. The hostel life is really worth remembering for all the students. For the entire four years, you develop bonds with people from different regions, cultures, and financial backgrounds. This gives exposure to many different people that can develop your overall personality. The food provided by mess is also up to the expectations of the students especially when you are non-vegetarian. Many respected companies often participate in the placement drive every year. Many students get decent packages from companies like Microsoft, Accenture, Wipro, TATA, etc. Categories IIEST Shibpur NIT Silchar Course Fee 5.68 lakh 5.42 lakh Highest CTC 35 LPA 21 LPA Average CTC 15 LPA 10 LPA Recruiting Companies Infosys, ZS Associates, Bosch, IBM, etc. Berger, HSBC, TCS, Cognizant, etc. Lastly, we can say that among both the colleges, IIEST Shibpur is the best. So it will be better for your career if you choose to study at IIEST Shibpur rather than NIT Silchar.

Ques
Is it better to take metallurgy in NIT Rourkela or electrical in NIT Silchar?

● Top Answer By Rituparna Hazra on 05 Jul 21

Ans
You need to compare the two universities to make a decision between the two. Having friends studying in both the institutes, I might be able to help you with the question. Metallurgy at NIT Rourkela: Campus-wise, the college has a very large campus. But, if you are planning to pursue metallurgy, let me tell you that you will have lesser job opportunities in both the public and private sectors in India. You might have to shift to another country to get a well-paying job and earn decently in your field of study. Electrical at NIT Silchar: There are also some really good facilities here including the largest digital library in South Asia. The campus is really good too. The placement records are amazing. Moreover, electrical is an evergreen branch with decent scope in the public sector. This would surely make a good alternative. Categories Metallurgy in NIT Rourkela Electrical at NIT Silchar Course Fee 6.40 lakh 5.42 lakh Highest CTC 10-12 LPA 15-18 LPA Average CTC 6-7 LPA 6 LPA Recruiting Companies Tata, Jindal, Hindalco, Vedanta, etc. Amazon, Goldman Sachs, Arcesium, Mu Sigma, etc. Finally, it all boils down to your interests and which field you prefer more. Both fields come with their own pros and cons.

Ques
Which is better for CSE: NIT Agartala, NIT Silchar, IIIT Kota, or IIIT Kalyani?

● Top Answer By Moitrayi Roy on 23 Mar 21

Ans
Among the colleges present in the lot, I would advise you to choose NIT Silchar over NIT Agartala. I have a few friends at the institute and I have heard good things about the institute. Here are a few of the reasons why NIT Silchar is a better alternative.  IIIT Kota and IIIT Kalyani are pretty new and hence these are generally not the first choice. NIT Silchar provides some extraordinary facilities like a supercomputing center and exchange programs with the University of Illinois. For those who are interested in Computer networks, parallel algorithms, etc, and want to pursue their career in these fields, supercomputing provides a very good foundation to get into these fields during the undergraduate coursework. The above reasons should be enough to choose NIT Silchar.

Ques
Which one is good Tezpur University or NIT Silchar or NIT Agartala?

● Top Answer By Ayan Pal, on 11 Nov 21

Ans
It is recommended that you go for any of the NIT Agartala or NIT Silchar over Tezpur University (TU). Here’s mentioning some points as to why it will be a better option. The major thing the NITs possess is the brand name. This name could turn out to be really beneficial for your career ahead. Overall placements at NITs are much better. Whereas TU is known only for its CSE department. Top companies like Goldman Sachs, Wells Fargo, KPMG, ICICI Prudential, American Express, Barclays, etc. take part in NITs placement programs. These companies offer salary packages ranging from 12-14 LPA. The average CTC rises upto 8.5 LPA. The administration of NITs are well organized unlike TU. Tezpur University being a newer establishment has very less industrial exposure, this is certainly better in the NITs. NITs faculty is highly qualified and well experienced. If you are interested in studying CSE then only consider TU, otherwise NITs are the best at everything. Being a more experienced institute NITs can provide you the proper guidance and connections required to move forward in your career.
