Course Curriculum Overview:

This course (electronics and communication engineering) is a highly growing field and it is an interesting field also at my rank this was the best field and college for me at that time. Now coming to the college faculty each branch is divided into two sections one is for home state students i.e. Chandigarh ones and the other is for outsiders each section has 60 students so there is not much interaction between students and teachers if we see the ratio but the faculty is good they all are p.hd. holders from different good colleges But talking about teaching methods they just come and teach from the PPTs and go, so most of the time we just have to study on our own like the culture of Indian government colleges. The exams we give are mid-seems and end-sem which are in between the semester and at the end of the semester respectively. They are not that difficult one should go through the questions done in class and do a little practice, that's it, there will be some quizzes and assignments also.

Course Curriculum Overview:

In CSE and ECE branches college placements are quite good. The student-faculty ratio is about 1:15. Most of the faculty members are Ph.D. holders from renowned institutions in the country. They are always ready to solve problems faced by the students. College exams were of mediocre level i.e if you study well whole semester you will not face any problem and can pass exams with good cgpa. The curriculum of the syllabus is also not quite difficult.

Computer Science is the future. That was the reason for selecting this course. The faculty to Studmet ratio is good. We have a batch of 120 for lectures But practicals are conducted in groups of 20. The teaching is done on Smart Boards All the professors are Ph.D. qualified. We have mid-semester and end-semester exams. They are of medium difficulty level, Very easy to pass.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose Electrical Engineering in PEC because at my rank it was the best option available for me as per placements are concerned, faculties are highly qualified but they lag in some basic teaching skills they have excellent knowledge about their subjects, and the faculty ratio is very poor its around 160 teachers for more than 3300 students, exams are conducted twice in a semester and they are kind of between hard and moderate difficulty level.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course I chose was CSE because I like this field and also the placement package is nice. The curriculum, at first might seem unnecessary but as you study more you find that more or less everything in the course is necessary. There are two groups in each branch, i.e, about 60 students and there are two professors for each group for a particular subject. Also, both the groups are further divided into three sub-groups, i.e, a total of six sub-groups for labs, and a professor is assigned to each sub-group. All the professors are not too good, not too bad just like the normal stereotypical image of a professor in an engineering college. The college conducts mid-term and end-term examinations in a semester. Also, quizzes and lab assignments are also conducted. We have midterms after two and a half months after the start of the semester and end terms after the same amount of time. Passing exams is easy if you just study occasionally even before the exams, you can pass.

I chose this course as I was lacking the marks to get my intense course. Every class of 12 is taught by 8-10 faculty teachers. All faculties are Ph.D. graduates or researchers and are well-educated from foreign universities. Exams are conducted after 3 months and one can pass easily.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is nice. As I am in the computer science branch, a lot of interest gain in these subjects and the faculty members are also good. The ratio is about 42 approximately. They managed well to do so by dividing the whole class into groups. They were well enough qualified from top IITs and NITs. The exam level is decent and if you attend their classes regularly, you will easily get passed.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum here is good and well-structured. Like I am a student of electrical engineering, so I found all the courses good for us to get good intern and placements. Teachers here are very helpful in our department I can say. They are brilliant enough to make our future bright. Exams were on 1.5 months difference, like the first in a semester, there are mid sems after 1.5 minutes of the start and then endsems after 1.5 months of midsems approximately. It's not that difficult to pass them, you just need to study in the classes themselves, that's more than enough.

Ques
Is changing the branch in PEC Chandigarh easy after the first year?

● Top Answer By Sudipta Mukherjee on 10 Aug 22

Ans
You need to have a high CGPA to change your branch at PEC Chandigarh. The branch change or branch upgradation option is given after the first year. The rules of branch change are as follows. The availability of branch change options depends on the vacancies.  Students are required to have a minimum of 8 CGPA, to apply for branch change. However, the actual required CGPA varies depending on the branch and competition. In recent years, the CGPA required for CSE was 10. For Mechanical and Electrical, the cutoff CGPA was ~ 8.25.  CGPA requirement for CSE usually stays high. Upgradation to ECE, Mechanical or Electrical is comparably easier.

Ques
Why is PEC losing its good ranking? Is it true that NIT Jalandhar will cross it within a few years?

● Top Answer By Akash Sinha on 30 Aug 22

Ans
NIRF 2022 has ranked NIT Jalandhar 52. While PEC received a ranking of 87. Here are some of the factors that affected PEC’s ranking. Although the university has changed the syllabus, it doesn’t meet the industry trends. Students don’t get many research opportunities. PEC needs to improve its infrastructure.   NIT Jalandhar is an institute of national importance. The NIT tag is well-recognized in the industry. This is also another reason why NIT Jalandhar ranks higher than PEC.

Ques
Why are IIT Ropar and IIT Mandi preferred less as compared to PEC, CHANDIGARH?

● Top Answer By Uday Tewari on 23 Mar 21

Ans
Is PEC really preferred over IIT’s? I think it’s the other way around. So, here are some reasons why IIT Ropar or IIT Mandi is preferred: Peer Group: The students of IIT Ropar and IIT Mandi are the students who have secured under 5k ranks in the JEE Advanced AIR. The peer group in IITs will be better than that of PEC as they have the best students on their campus. Faculty: The faculty of IITs are the best and experienced teachers throughout the country.  Brand Value: The brand value of IIT is definitely better than that of PEC. It has international recognition.  Rank: MHRD has ranked both of the two colleges among the top colleges in India and is therefore considered as the best. Placements: The placements are exceptionally well in IITs. For the CSE branch, the average package is about 16 LPA, in electrical it is about 12 LPA and in the core branches like mechanical, it is around 8-9 LPA that is more than the average packages of PEC. Apart from these factors, the only factor in which PEC campus.

Ques
Is PEC becoming IIT Chandigarh?

● Top Answer By Akansha Kunwar on 30 Aug 22

Ans
There’s no news of PEC becoming IIT Chandigarh, in recent future. Initially, PEC used to come under Panjab government. But now it takes admission through CCMT.  Also, Panjab already has an IIT, i.e. IIT Ropar. All states of India have only one IIT now. Although UP has two IITs, these IITs were established with a gap of around 40 years. So, there’s a slim chance of PEC becoming IIT Chandigarh, anytime soon.

Ques
How do people treat PECians (PEC Chandigarh)?

● Top Answer By Asif Khan on 30 Apr 21

Ans
One of my friends is studying at Punjab Engineering College and people treat PEC students pretty decently.  Here is the list of positive experiences each student of PEC may experience. If you are interning in companies, then it is possible that company staff may praise and appreciate you for studying at Punjab Engineering College. If others come to know that you are studying at Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh, then they will become super happy.  Even the cab driver asks my friend technical questions and tells him how hard it is to get PEC. Locals know the reputation of PEC that it held a year ago. However, the college is not as good as once it was. But still, the reputation of the college is still known by everyone in the region.  Even Civil Servants praised PEC students for studying there. If you are taking admission into coaching institutions, then PEC students get a special discount. Students of other colleges are always curious about PEC fests.  But PECians also face negative experiences. Such as IIT students have never heard about PEC or its fests.  Therefore, if you are studying at Punjab Engineering College. Chandigarh, then you will encounter many such incidents. People will praise and treat you differently if you are from PEC.

Ques
Which is better: CSE at PEC, Chandigarh or IT at IIIT, Allahabad?

● Top Answer By Aditya Sinha on 17 Aug 22

Ans
IT at IIIT Allahabad is a better option, compared to CSE at PEC. In terms of academics, facilities, and placements, it has an edge over PEC. IIIT Allahabad placement 2022 concluded with an average CTC of INR 19.52 LPA. The highest CTC offered this year was INR 32.5 LPA. The placement rate was around 100%. The campus has a good student crowd, peer learning opportunities are ample.  But PEC has a locational advantage. Compared to Allahabad, Chandigarh offers better exposure and career opportunities.
