There are three hostels in IIT-Palakkad, two are old and one is new. Old hostels: Rooms: Rooms are spacious enough for 2 with windows and almirah. A study table is also provided. Others: Basic requirements like heater, geyser, etc are provided by the hostel. Availability of water is 24/7. Sports: A Volleyball court is available in front of the hostel. In addition to this two TT tables and an equipped gym are present and usable. You are also free to use the Football/Cricket ground and Basketball court. WiFi: There is no LAN Port in the rooms, but Hi-speed WiFi connections are available. Nigh-life: The hostel food is good and satisfying. The night canteen is open till 12:30 pm and a food court is available till 10:00 pm in the Ahalia Hospital Complex. Thus the issue of night cravings is sorted. New Hostel: The hostel-3 OR H-3 is the latest inclusion in the list of hostels of IIT-Palakkad. This answer would be somewhat the same for both boys and girls. There is a well-equipped gym too in case you care about your physical health and regular Martial Arts Classes by Dr. Swaroop Sahoo and Yoga classes too. There’s a volleyball court as well. Most importantly, it has the Innovation Lab housing 3D printers, CNC Routers, almost anything you need to make a product prototype, from tools to materials, you name it we have it (all open for students), and other labs too. Water coolers (for hot, normal, and cold water), warm water for bathing purposes, and Washing Machines on each floor, all for 24 x 7 (Yeah, people even wash clothes 3 in the morning). There is a SAC Office and hostel manager’s office too. H-3 is home to both boys and girls. There are different sections. The maintenance of the rooms is on you. You need to clean it, including the bathrooms.

IIT Palakkad has two campuses: the temporary campus and the Nila campus, which are spaced apart by around 13 miles. The temporary campus may be found inside the Ahalia Integrated campus near Kozhippara, Palakkad. It is around 20 kilometers from the city. The temporary campus academic building is 55,000 square feet in size. Out of the 504 acres granted for the permanent campus location in Kanjikode, the Nila Campus is situated on 30 acres.

The permanent campus is 14 kilometers from the Palakkad Railway Station and roughly 60 kilometers from the Coimbatore International Airport. It is located on a scenic 504-acre tract at the base of the Western Ghats. The temporary campus is 55,000 square feet in size and has a seminar room, auditorium, conference room, workshop, library, canteen, laboratories, and faculty offices in addition to well-equipped classrooms. Additionally, it offers access to high-speed internet at hostels and facilities for sports and relaxation.

Out of the 504 acres given for the permanent school location in Kanjikode, 30 acres make up the Nila school. The campus has a first-rate infrastructure in place, including an auditorium, small and big classrooms with multimedia capabilities, student labs, a library, a canteen, and dorms with complete Wi-Fi capabilities and mobile Internet access. Samgatha and Manogatha are the names of the academic building and the laboratory complex, respectively. Bageshri, Brindavani, and Tilang are the three freshly constructed dormitories that house the students in the Nila Campus. Phase I of the permanent campus is still being built.

Ans.Ecology and Environment, Linear Algebra and Series, Physics, Engineering Drawing, Engineering Design, Mechanical Workshop, Physics Lab, Chemistry Lab, Basic Chemistry for Engineers, Engineering Mechanics, Introduction to Programming, Multivariable Calculus, Technology and Society, Electrical Workshop, and Life Science will be offered to begin from the year 2022.

Ques.Can freshers bring laptops in the first semester? How is the Internet facility on campus?

Ans.They certainly can. There are no restrictions on bringing a laptop to the Institute, but it is not required at first. If you have a laptop, it will be useful for the Engineering Drawing course and a Computer Programming course in the second semester. The computer lab in the academic building, which is only a 5-minute walk from the hostel, is open to all students. The labs and academic area have high-speed Internet access, and the hostels have Wi-Fi. You can access online resources from your hostel if you have a laptop.

Ans.The decision to change branches is solely based on your CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) for the first academic year. Any branch can have no more than a 10% increase over the original sanctioned strength, and no class's strength can fall below the sanctioned strength by more than 10%.

Ans.In general, IIT Palakkad had a five-day workweek. Semester breaks occur from mid-December to mid-January in the winter and mid-May to mid-August in the summer. Summer internships are possible because of the long summer break.
