RVCE College can be said to be No.1 but choosing PES University can not be considered a bad choice. You should try and consider other factors as well before making the final decision. You can choose either of the two colleges and can still make it big in life.
Between the options, you should choose NIT Surathkal IT. Here are the reasons why.
Here is a full overview of NIT Surathkal
You will have to stay here in the hostel, which provides a good experience for them. During the tenure of the course, you will learn how to take care of yourself. Also, if your hometown is Bangalore, then you can frequently visit home.
For Mechanical Engineering, Thapar University is better than RV College. It has better infrastructure. The departmental labs are well-equipped with the latest instruments. Thapar offers better academics as well. The peer group of the college is better compared to RV College.
Thapar University placements for Mechanical Engineering are great. Each year around 60% of the students get placed from the branch. The average CTC received by the students is around INR 6 LPA.
Considering different factors like placements, activities, infrastructure, Electrical and Electronics Engineering at NIT Surathkal will be a better option. The table below gives a brief level of comparison among ECE at RVCE and EE at NIT Surathkal.

Key Highlights - NIT Surathkal:
Considering the above points, it is evident that EE at NIT Surathkal is the better choice.
Last year my brother had the same option between these two institutes. He opted for CSE at PESIT, owing to its brand existing credibility among Bangalore's leading tech firms.
PES University has great industry-wide potential. When it comes to hiring outstanding talent, it is still the first choice for many of Bangalore's top companies. According to the recent placement highlights the median CTC offered at the institute is 6 LPA.
PES will also offer you excellent faculties, great research culture, and a good peer learning experience.
I have friends from both RV College of Engineering and MIT Manipal, civil engineering holds the same value from either of them. It is because they both follow the same curriculum and guidelines laid by UGC and AICTE. However, both of them hold an edge over each other in their own way. Here’s why:
The table below shows a brief insight of both institutes:

At the end of the day, your pool of interest matters the most. If you are getting your preferred branch, set the preferences that are more important to you. Are you looking for a great placement or great brand value? The choice is up to you.
All three of these institutes have their own advantages. Here is a brief comparison of the three.
If you want decent academics and lots of real-life exposure then the best option among these three is Manipal School of Architecture and Planning.
Many people would suggest RVCE over MIT mostly because of the quality of faculty members. The faculty for CSE at Manipal Institute of Technology is pretty bad. You have to do all the studying yourself. You can't rely on more than a couple of faculty members for projects. Hence, the institute is not good if you're looking to do a lot of projects.
Since RV College of Engineering is in Bangalore, you are more in the loop and connected to the industry. If you choose to get into research, you have IISc and IIITB situated in the city. If you choose to get a job, there are tons of startups and companies recruiting freshers frequently throughout the year.
If you look at both the colleges with non-academic perspectives, you can feel that RV College of Engineering still has an edge over Manipal Institute of Technology.
If you like the feel of a small town, you might feel better in Manipal as Bangalore is a crowded city with a metropolitan outlook. The choice can be pretty tough while choosing between Manipal Institute of Technology and RV College of Engineering as both the colleges have an extremely good reputation among Indian Engineering colleges.
The dilemma of choosing an engineering branch is one of the most common situations for students who just cleared their 12th boards. Now coming to the question, there are two pieces of advice to be followed in this case.
Overall, it's best recommended to follow your interest first as these will be career deciding years of your life, and you don’t wanna regret it later. After all, your hard work and passion are what determines your success.
The short answer is Yes. If EIE is your interest and you want to build your career here then there is no reason to stop. My brother is an alumnus from RV College of Engineering, and here’s why you must definitely go for it.
The table below shows the placement statistics of EIE at RVCE:
Highest Salary |
INR 13 LPA |
Average Salary |
INR 6.25 LPA |
Minimum Salary |
INR 3.6 LPA |
Placement Percentage |
INR 84.09% |
All in all, if you give your 100% in any branch, you are most likely to get placed. Though the intake of EIE is quite low, all matters are your interest. In most cases, if you have a good rank in entrance exams then you can get EEE in BMSCE or MSRIT with the same rank. However, if your interest lies only in EIE, then don’t give it a second thought.
