I am taking civil engineering b/c I want to develop my carrier towards civil engg. And my father is also a civil engineer. I am interested in field work rather than computer work that's why I choose civil engg. I want to some knowledge for society by making some superstructure buildings. There is a ratio of about 1:100 among faculty students All the faculties have done Ph.D. from any college. There is proper management in the timing of exams and it seems to be somehow difficult to pass the exam.

Mechanical engineering opens a gate for a number of opportunities that include GATE, PSUs, Indian Engineering Services, and many other government services. Students can also go for private companies. The faculty-student ratio in NIT Patna is around 1:20. There are adequate faculty members in the college. All of the professors and assistant professors have done Ph.D. from prestigious institutes around the world. Most of the faculty members have good teaching skills, but some of them are still preferring the years-old method of memorization which sometimes feels quite boring. Exams are held two times in a semester, Mid-sem and End-sem. Class tests are also taken occasionally. Passing the semester exams are very easy, But maintaing a good CGPA is not so easy.

I choose computer science and engineering because my interest is towards technology and enjoy solving coding problems. The faculty-student ratio is 1:75 .All the faculty are PhD holders and most of the teachers teach is very well. In one year there is two end-semester exams, two mid-semester exams and end sem exam held in six months and mid sem in there months gap. If you listen to the class and what the teacher is teaching and makes notes of it you can pass the exam easily many students study two weeks before the exam and they also pass the exam easily.

It is one of the best planning schools running architecture since 1973 and has Masters's in Planning since 2012. Most of the faculties have graduated from IITs/NITs. Almost all faculties (Full time) have Ph.D. degrees. The student-teacher ratio is good. Exams are conducted as timely notified through academic calendar. An absolute system of marking is followed as the strength does not fit for relative grading. Exams are comparatively easy. More focus is on academic projects and portfolios.

My rank in JEE mains is the main reason I opted for this course. The faculty: student is equal to 2:20. All the faculties are well qualified and experienced as most of them did their Ph.D. from very well-known institutions like IITs. Some of the faculties were very helpful and their teaching methodology is marvelous. There are 2 exams (mid-term and end-term) in a semester and 2 or 3 class tests/surprise tests are also conducted. The exams are not that much tough if you are studied throughout the semester.

Ques
Is IIIT Lucknow better than NIT Patna?

● Top Answer By Sambhav Singh on 19 Mar 21

Ans
Between IIIT Lucknow and NIT Patna, the former is a better choice, especially for IT. I have a few friends in the IT department of IIIT Lucknow, so I can vouch for it. Here are a few highlights of IIIT Lucknow.  Placements: IIIT Lucknow has already released its placement report for the year 2020, and It is seen that the highest CTC stood at INR 43 LPA whereas the average CTC stood at INR 18.4 LPA. During the placement drive of 2020, 100% of students were placed in some of the top recruiters like Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Linkedin, etc. Curricular:  IIIT Lucknow doesn’t have Chemistry and Physics in the curriculum for IT.  IT Culture: IIIT Lucknow has an All India Rank of 9th and the institution will be heading for the Asia Finals with some of the few IITs and no other IIIT ahead. The institute witnessed 3 GSOCers in the first year itself and the number will be increasing exponentially in the coming future. IIIT Lucknow is among the few campuses in India to have GitHub campus expert, Google DSc as well as Microsoft student partner. Cultural and Sports Life: In terms of Cultural and sports life, NIT Patna has great diversity.  On the other hand, if we look upon the speed at which IIITL is being built and establishing itself, it will surpass bigger institutions in no time.  The institution had its own MUN conference. It is organizing various fests and also the sports team are competing at the national level. The table below gives a brief overview of the two institutes. Category  IIIT Lucknow NIT Patna Highest CTC INR 43 LPA INR 43.17 LPA Average CTC INR 18.4 LPA INR 8.8 LPA Major recruiters  Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Flipkart, etc.  Adobe, Oracle, Amazon, L&T, TCS, etc.  Go through the above facts and decide which institute is better for you.

Ques
Which one is better for CSE, NIT PATNA, IIIT Kalyani & IIIT Lucknow considering the last year placements of 40 lpa at Patna?

● Top Answer By Amrita Mehra on 20 Mar 21

Ans
Someone else's package doesn't guarantee that you'll also bag the same package. Out of mentioned options, NIT Patna is a better option not because of the 40 lakh package. The placement package had been offered by Adobe which is said to recruit 2 ladies each offering 20 lakh packages to each. But in 2018, Adobe hired a female student offering her 40 LPA package, which can be true or even wrong information. However, you should not take admission in NIT Patna just because someone bagged a 40 Lakh package. The package will depend on your dedication during the course. It will help you easily earning a 6-8 LPA package. Categories NIT Patna IIIT Kalyani IIIT Lucknow Average Package (LPA) 8.8 6.2 11.37 Highest Package in 2020 (LPA) 43.17 17.0 28 Placement Percent 70% 70% 96.80% While there is no doubt that NIT Patna is an old institution, yet it lacks some of the basic facilities such as hostels and open spaces. The campus is quite small as compared to other engineering colleges. So, it does not feel like a proper campus to some students as they have to spend 4 years there. In the present time, a mega hostel is being constructed but it is outside the campus. The locality surrounding the campus is very unpleasant. The good thing is that the campus is located beside Ganga, having some modern and beautiful ghats. The management and staff are strict and less creative.

Ques
What should be my preference between CSE at IIIT Guwahati and EEE at NIT Patna/Puducherry?

● Top Answer By Dishant Verma on 18 Jun 21

Ans
According to my friends at IIIT Guwahati, CSE at IIIT Guwahati is definitely a better choice. Let me provide some points which will give you a better insight into the colleges. The campus of NIT Puducherry is almost 130 km away from the city, located in a remote place known as Karaikal. This hampers placements. In NIT Puducherry, 90-95% of students are from South India. So, students from other parts of the country face a serious linguistic problem. For most North Indian Students, it is somewhat hard to sustain in the South Indian culture. IIIT Guwahati has experienced rapid growth over the last few years, which makes it a much better choice than NIT Patna/ Puducherry. There is no home state quota in IIIT Guwahati, so there is no such problem of linguistics as in NITs. In addition, there are 18 students in IIIT Guwahati who are from abroad, selected through the DASA UG scheme of 18 seats. From 2019, the B.Tech seats were increased by 33% for Girl Supernumerary Quota, because the previous batch had only 3.5% girls. The total number of seats from then is 233. Categories CSE at IIIT Guwahati Course Fee 9.05 lakh Highest CTC 21 LPA Average CTC 10-12 LPA Recruiting Companies Capgemini, Wipro, Accenture, IBM, etc. Therefore, IIIT Guwahati has a lot of advantages over NIT Patna/ Puducherry, which makes it a better choice for students in engineering.

Ques
Which is better for IT and CS, NIT Patna or IIIT Allahabad?

● Top Answer By Tanushree Debnath on 05 Jul 21

Ans
As one of my close friends studied in the computer science department at NIT Patna, I can say that it is not at the same level as that of IIIT Allahabad. IIIT Allahabad is much more effective compared to NIT. Having studied at IIIT Allahabad, let me give you some facts as to why it stands out. IIIT Allahabad focuses on programming languages extremely well for those who are planning to master this field. Many MNCs also hire students from IIIT Allahabad. Many top global companies like Facebook and Google hire young students for their talent. You will probably not find these opportunities at NIT Patna. Moreover, IIIT Allahabad also has a really big 100-acre campus with 24/7 lab facilities. Compared to this, Patna is quite small. If you are staying in the hostel, the facilities there are good too. Lastly, if you are into sports, these facilities are not available at NIT Patna as compared to IIIT Allahabad. Categories NIT Patna IIIT Allahabad Course Fee 5.70 lakh 5.41 lakh Highest CTC 30 LPA 45 LPA Average CTC 17 LPA 20 LPA Recruiting Companies Infosys, Wipro, TCS, IBM, etc. Microsoft, Google, Morgan Stanley, HCL, etc. IIIT Allahabad has been very well known for its active coding culture and many competitive coding opportunities, hackathons and tech events. So, if you are planning to go for Computer Science and IT, you should go with IIIT Allahabad as compared to NIT Patna.

Ques
Which is better, mechanical engineering from NIT Silchar, NIT Patna or NIT Goa regarding placements?

● Top Answer By Sayam Bhardwaj on 25 Aug 21

Ans
Having some friends studying in these institutes, I can say that as per what they mentioned, NIT Patna arrives with a better placement rate than the other two counterparts.  In a nutshell, there are multiple core companies that visit the campus during the placement drive.  These include major firms like Alston transport, L&T HED, L&T Constructions, Thermal, Havells, TATA Motors and many others. Other than these few, various other students secure placement offers in companies belonging to the IT sector and the Consultancy services.  Categories Mechanical at NIT Silchar Mechanical at NIT Patna Mechanical at NIT Goa Course Fee 5.42 lakh 5.70 lakh 5.38 lakh Highest CTC 21 LPA 12-14 LPA 11 LPA Average CTC 7.25 LPA 6-7 LPA 6 LPA Recruiting Companies Wipro, TCS, Infosys, L&T, etc. GE, L&T, Tata Motors, Alston, etc. Bosch, Capgemini, HP, IBM, etc. But, apart from the factors mentioned above, NIT Silchar is several steps ahead because it has established one of the best campuses, unlike many. That is the only brownie point NIT Silchar enjoys. It is best if you still research vividly about the prospects implanted in either institutes, and see what suits you best.
