Is IIIT Lucknow better than NIT Patna?

- Age of the Institutions: IIIT Lucknow is a newly established institution, founded in 2015. On the other hand, NIT Patna has been in existence for over a century, with its foundations dating back to 1886.
- Legacy and Reputation: NIT Patna has a long-standing legacy and reputation as one of the oldest engineering institutes in the country. It was formerly known as Bihar College of Engineering and was converted into a National Institute of Technology in 2004. IIIT Lucknow, on the other hand, does not have the same legacy or reputation.
- Alumni Base: NIT Patna has a vast alumni network, which includes notable personalities such as the former Chief Justice of India, Rajendra Mal Lodha. IIIT Lucknow, being a relatively new institution, does not yet have an established alumni base.
- Placement Records: NIT Patna has a proven track record of excellent placements, with its graduates being hired by some of the biggest companies in India and abroad. IIIT Lucknow, being a new institution, has not yet established a similar track record.
In conclusion, NIT Patna is a better choice compared to IIIT Lucknow. Its age, legacy, reputation, alumni base, and placement records make it a more established and reliable institution.
Between IIIT Lucknow and NIT Patna, the former is a better choice, especially for IT. I have a few friends in the IT department of IIIT Lucknow, so I can vouch for it. Here are a few highlights of IIIT Lucknow.
Placements:
IIIT Lucknow has already released its placement report for the year 2020, and It is seen that the highest CTC stood at INR 43 LPA whereas the average CTC stood at INR 18.4 LPA. During the placement drive of 2020, 100% of students were placed in some of the top recruiters like Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Linkedin, etc.
Curricular:
IIIT Lucknow doesn’t have Chemistry and Physics in the curriculum for IT.
IT Culture:
IIIT Lucknow has an All India Rank of 9th and the institution will be heading for the Asia Finals with some of the few IITs and no other IIIT ahead. The institute witnessed 3 GSOCers in the first year itself and the number will be increasing exponentially in the coming future. IIIT Lucknow is among the few campuses in India to have GitHub campus expert, Google DSc as well as Microsoft student partner.
Cultural and Sports Life:
- In terms of Cultural and sports life, NIT Patna has great diversity.
- On the other hand, if we look upon the speed at which IIITL is being built and establishing itself, it will surpass bigger institutions in no time.
- The institution had its own MUN conference. It is organizing various fests and also the sports team are competing at the national level.
