To get admission a candidate must have a BE or BTech degree in the following programs: Civil and Transportation Engineering, Civil and Transportation Technology, Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering and Planning, Civil Engineering (Public Health Engineering), Civil Environmental Engineering, Civil Technology, Civil and Environmental Engineering, and Civil Engineering (Environmental Engineering).

Ques. How is the MTech Structural Engineering program at NIT Calicut? What is the minimum cutoff required to secure a seat?

Ans. NIT Calicut’s MTech in Structural Engineering program is a 2-year program that focuses on structural systems engineering. For the Structural Engineering program a total of 19 students registered for the program out of which 18 students were placed. With a placement percentage of 94.73%, the highest package secured was INR 13.58 LPA and the average package offered was INR 7.44 LPA. With 25 seats, admission to this program is also based on GATE scores. The GATE cutoff for this program was 502 marks in 2023, 575 marks in 2022, and 623 marks in 2021. The first and last round closing rank cutoff for the Structural Engineering program is 502 marks and 476 marks, respectively.

Ques. What is the minimum eligibility criterion for admission to the PG-level MTech program?

Ans. The MTech program at NIT Calicut candidates should have passed:

BE/ BTech in a relevant branch from an approved Institute/University with a minimum of 60% marks (or CGPA 6.5/10) for GEN/GEN-EWS/OBC
MTech admission with MCA should have a minimum of 60% marks (or CGPA 6.5/10) for GEN/GEN-EWS/OBC, in both MCA and the undergraduate degree.
Candidates who secured BE/ BTech/ BArch/ BPlan under the lateral entry scheme should have passed the three-year diploma in Engineering with a minimum of 60% marks (or CGPA 6.5/10) for GEN/GEN-EWS/OBC.
The final selection is however done based on GATE scores.
