IIT Kharagpur offers a 2-year MBA program in 5 specializations with an intake capacity of 170 students. The classes for the program are held at Vinod Gupta School of Management (VGSoM). The fee for the entire program is INR 9.29 Lacs. Candidates seeking admission to IIT Kharagpur MBA program must appear for the CAT examination and then for the PI round conducted at VGSoM only for final admissions.
IIT Kharagpur MBA Eligibility Criteria
Candidates applying for the IIT Kharagpur MBA program must fulfill the below-given eligibility criteria:
- Bachelor’s degree of minimum 4-years duration in Engineering, Technology, Pharmacy, Medicine, or similar discipline. OR
- Master’s degree in Science/ Economics/ Commerce (with Mathematics or Statistics at Bachelor’s level).
- The minimum percentage required for admission is 60% marks or a CGPA of 6.5 on a scale of 10 points for the GE/NC-OBC.
- For the SC/ST/PWD, a minimum of 55% marks or CGPA of 6.0 on a 10 point scale is required for admission.
- Candidates appearing for the final year’s examination are also eligible to apply for admission.
IIT Kharagpur MBA Selection Criteria
The selection criteria at IIT Kharagpur for the MBA program are based on CAT exam scores and Personal interview marks. The entire selection criteria of the institute are divided into 2 parts:
Stage 1: Shortlisting for the PI round
In this stage, the candidates are shortlisted for the PI round based on the CAT exam scores, application rating (AR), and Gender Diversity Factor (GDF). The minimum CAT percentile required for the PI round is:
- General: 90
- NC-OBC: 80
- SC: 75
- ST: 75
- PWD: 75
The application rating (AR) is calculated on a scale of 20 whereby the candidates are given marks based on their performance in class 10, 12, Graduation, Post Graduation & Work experience (if any).

Another factor in the stage 1 process is Gender Diversity Factor (GDF). The female candidates here are given 2 marks each. However, the GDF component is not considered for the final composite score calculation.

Stage II: Final Selection
The final selection is based on the cumulative score of the application rating (AR), CAT exam score, and marks obtained by the candidate in the PI round. The weightage given to all 3 factors is 20, 40, and 40, respectively.

- Select MBA course and click on Online Application tab.
- Now register using the required details
- After registration, students can access the online application form.
- Click on the ‘application form’ link and enter all the required details like persoanl, academic and contact details.
- Next, upload a photograph and signature.
- Make payments of INR 1600 (INR 800 for SC/ST/PWD) as an application fee.
- Next, take a print of the submitted application form.
