Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose the course because of my interest and Electrical and electronics engineering is one of the core and circuital branches and this branch also has a good placement average. EEE department has the Faculty is good and almost everyone is Ph.D. qualified. Exams happen every two months and quizzes are conducted in between semesters. The teaching method and curriculum are good enough to get you an understanding of the course and its concepts. In every semester, one mid-semester and an end-semester exam are conducted. Midsem consists of half the curriculum while end-sem has the entire course curriculum. Quizzes are conducted before and after the exams. Assignments are given by the faculty which carry some of the weightage. Some courses also have lab evaluations. The exams altogether are not so difficult. The difficulty level is mediocre and it can be easily passed even with decent preparation. Every batch has around 60 students. So it is good enough for everyone to get the attention of the professor.

I am currently pursuing electronics and communication engineering I have chosen the course because I am very interested in chip design, processor design, and semiconductor devices. The student ratio that is boys to girls is 3:1. The faculty are highly talented everyone is an expert in their field most of them have a degree of master's as well as a Ph.D. we have two main exams one is mid sem and other one ends sem other than that we are having our normal quizzes and assignments are given. In most of the courses, mid-sem and end-sem cover 50% of the total score while the other 50% is covered by the rest. the difficulty of the course varies some are very tough which is really difficult to pass while others are easy but overall it is normal and okay. If one should do it on a regular basis of 3 to 4 hours a day bringing an 8 CGPA is easy.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I scored good marks in my JEE MAINS exam, so I get into this college with a mechanical branch, and I was very excited to get into this college because this college is famous for its good faculty and good placements. I have selected this course because I want to become a successful mechanical engineer in big companies like Mahindra, IFB etc. I choose NITK because the college is the best in engineering, the placement is quite excellent and the education levels are very high in this college. Now, if I talk about the faculty-student ratio, then it's quite balanced. There are approx 85-90 students in each class and there are 2-3 faculty or teachers for each subject. The exams are held twice in a semester, one is mid-term and another is the main semester exam. The exams are not that difficult to pass, as it depends on the hard work of the students. It becomes hard for those who don't care about their studies.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course because of my interest in chemical engineering. There will be 1 faculty for a particular course for every 60-70 students (depending on the branch). The faculties here are highly qualified and experienced, they have a huge knowledge of their subject and can solve any doubts which you have. The teaching method of some professors is not so good, because most of the time students may not understand what is going on in the class. The exams are a little tough, and more conceptual. You have to listen to the class properly and take advice from seniors for every particular course. Some courses are so tough that you will think of just passing them somehow.

Ques
How hard is it to get a GPA of over 9.5 at NIT Surathkal?

● Top Answer By Rita Sarkar Seth on 31 Mar 21

Ans
In terms of getting selected, my cousin’s brother had a GPA of 9.47 at the end of the 6th semester. It although was not 9.5, yet it could be enough to put into consideration. It certainly is not difficult to obtain a GPA of 9.47. Speaking on behalf of the IT department, it can be tough acquiring high grades in the 1st year owing to a curriculum that ever since has been promoting rote learning. Yet the answer would be that it clearly depends on numerous factors like an individual's interest in the course, the time that has been spent on it, and also the leniency of either professors or the departments. However, if you are in Civil or Mining, then obtaining greater marks is comparatively much simpler than it is in other branches. Be that as it may, Chemical and EEE can have tremendously strict systems and professors, and at times, the grading factors get out of the box.  While simultaneously, few other departments have almost 50-50 professors who are not highly strict in terms of the course. Alongside all of that, the Mechanical and ECE basically also have a lot of competition among students.  The best way to settle among yourself this issue of GPA, you are required to put effort and painstaking hard work which however cannot be done overnight for most of the courses. The preparation of a student will definitely bring a decent 7.5+ grade point if worked properly.

Ques
What is the placement scenario in nit warangal, nit trichy and nit surathkal for mtech in electrical branch?

● Top Answer By Anik Dhar on 04 Sept 21

Ans
My brother did his M.Tech from NITC. Here is his insight into the general placement scenario for MTech at NITs.  Over the years it has been seen that the placements for M.Tech students are comparatively less as most of the companies demand B.Tech graduates as the freshers or even experienced candidates. However, in some cases, M.Tech students are considered, like in research and development-oriented jobs. However, most industries prefer B.Tech over M.Tech.  After pursuing M.Tech your area gets narrower due to which the situation becomes very tricky for both the employers and the candidates applying for. As far as all the colleges are concerned the placement statistics are not so good for M.Tech students. In the recent placement drives, the average CTC offered at NIT Warangal, NIT Trichy and NIT Surathkal were respectively 21 LPA, 6 LPA, and 11 LPA.

Ques
How is NITK Surathkal College?

● Top Answer By Shreya Kapoor on 25 Mar 21

Ans
NITK Surathkal is one of the best colleges in India and the student life there is full of ups and downs. Some of my friends are studying at NITK, so I can describe the institute in detail. Here are some experiences and facts about NITK:  The campus is lush green having its own beach and lighthouse, and the student life is good. There is a really loud bell on the campus that wakes everyone up, and even the dogs start growling.  You are probably going to wake up to its sound daily at 7:45 am. You will want to sleep a few more minutes but because 75% attendance is mandatory in college, you will wake up with weary eyes and rush to the washroom to brush your teeth. The clock keeps ticking and by the time you finish brushing, it's time for your first lecture of the day. So, you rush to the mess, trying to grab anything that you can, and head towards the lecture hall where you find that the class is already in progress.  After 5 pm you get to go back and do Homeworks. You meet your friends who hang out with you at the beach and by the time you come back, it's 7 pm. In your hostel, you finally relax, play CS go, a bit of gossip, and talk to seniors after which dinner follows.  You start your homework by 11, and it is going to take hours to write that. There are more guys in your situation so all of you decide to just copy from a friend's sheets and finish the work with full enthusiasm by 1 am, after which you finally sleep.  This was a typical day that keeps on repeating itself as long as you're in college.

Ques
I have a choice between IT (information technology) in NIT, Surathkal and CS (computer science) in NIT Goa. Which one would be a better choice in terms of placements, brand name, etc.?

● Top Answer By Ditsha Banerjee on 08 Jul 22

Ans
NIT Surathkal IT is the better choice. It is among the best NIT in the country and offers great academics, placements, and facilities to students. There is not much difference between the course curriculum of CSE and IT. Almost all companies open for CSE at NIT K are also open for IT students. According to the highlights of NIT Surathkal placements, students of IT get an average CTC of around INR 10 LPA. The placement rate for the branch is around 95-100%.

Ques
What is your review of National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK) , Surathkal?

● Top Answer By Meghna Singh on 25 Mar 21

Ans
NITK Surathkal is a blend of everything, you will get all types of experiences here. The faculty is experienced and dynamic, your peers are also brilliant and competitive. Students take admission at NITK upon being rejected admission by IITs, BHU, and ISM. Local people around the campus are educated, friendly, and ready to help.  The annual cultural fest, "Incident" is one of the best parts of the college experience where a foreign band and a Bollywood star are invited.  The campus is large with all the basic facilities like water and electricity. Mess is available, and in case you don't like mess food, you have food points and canteens on the campus. You can even place food orders on Zomato or Swiggy.  The alumni network is pretty good, you build connections and even have a lot of enjoyment. Various cultural and technical clubs are present which regularly conduct workshops and activities engaging students. The film club screens a film every week.  Now coming to the main criteria, that is education which is one of the best in India. The Professors and seniors are always helping and encouraging at every step. In spite of having a high quality of faculty, education, co-curricular, alumni network, infrastructure, research work, and what not, NITK does not rank best among the other NITs.  NITK is an autonomous institute and can design its curriculum itself, but there has not been any major considerable improvement yet.  The passing marks have been brought down to just 20% whereas, in most other engineering colleges, the passing percentage is at least 50%.  These are a few of the aspects that have less to not so good ranking of NITK Surathkal among the top engineering colleges of India.

Ques
How is hostel life at NIT Surathkal?

● Top Answer By Rohan Bose on 25 Mar 21

Ans
Hostel life at NITK is great and teaches a lot of things that you will carry forever. People here are cooperative and friendly, willing to assist you in any way possible. Diversity- The student crowd is very diverse, from the north and south India allotted random rooms that let you expose yourself to students with different backgrounds across India. Upon interaction, you gain a lot of knowledge and insight. Seniors- You can approach any senior during or after your class hours, or even interact with them during a sport. The connections with seniors are certainly going to benefit you in the future as they not only help you to settle into college life but also help when it comes to switching jobs and recommendations.  Physical Fitness- The campus is equipped with a swimming pool, playgrounds, and a gym where students are allowed to play and workout even before exam time. You can regularly enjoy playing any sport of your choices like cricket, badminton, football or basketball. Leisure time- Whenever you have a lot of free time in your hands, you can invest it in your hobby or any club that you are interested in. There is definitely going to be free time when you are in your hostel room.  Electricity- There are huge generators, in spite of that whenever there are power cuts, they last long, though it rarely happens.  Food- The mess food is not that good as said by many students. The student council has now made many changes which are going to improve the food quality. There are several canteens and food points also available in case you don't like mess food.  Other than this, you can go on trips with your hostel mates whenever there is a holiday. Some of the interesting destinations are Goa, Mangalore, Kerala, etc. Thus, the overall hostel experience at NITK Surathkal is pretty amazing.

Ques
What made NIT Trichy, NIT Warangal and NIT Surathkal stand out best among all NITs?

● Top Answer By Tamalika Dutta on 12 Apr 21

Ans
Honesty, discipline, and the values of the South Indian people and the states make them stand out. This might not be making sense to you, but will definitely try to elucidate the same here. Also, opinions vary among people. One of my friends studied at NIT Trichy and he has lived in Hyderabad as well.  According to him, 4 qualities that make any institution the best are - Hard work, discipline, humbleness, and the eagerness to learn. The people in the southern state's priorities have these factors more than the people in the northern states. The second point to note here is that, unless and until you get to the nerves, the people in the southern states are very calm and polite to you.  Most of the people in the northern states, on the other hand, are of a rowdy attitude. Verbal abuses are common here. The students in these institutions are dedicated to learning and so are the teachers towards teaching. Moreover, the rules and regulations are followed strictly in these institutions.

Ques
What is the college timing of NIT Trichy, NIT Surathkal, MNNIT Allahabad, IIIT Allahabad?

● Top Answer By Disha Das on 11 Mar 21

Ans
At NITK Surathkal, Saturdays are holidays for all the students. In the first year, timings depend upon your section. It has about 23 hours of classes every week.  These can be:  Between 8 AM to 3 PM - Monday and Thursday. Between 8 AM to 3 PM - Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday.  The schedule can be altered as per the student’s convenience with the help of the class representatives (CRs). In the second year onwards, the schedule depends on the branch in which you belong. For example, the mining branch has 20 hours per week, CSE and ECE have 25-28 hours per week, while the mechanical department has around 35 hours per week. There are extra classes at the end of the trimester. At NITK Trichy the college time is usually 8:30 AM - 3:10 PM. Sometimes, it may extend to 4-5 PM. There is a lunch break from 12:10 – 1:30 PM. At MNNIT Allahabad the classes are held from Monday to Friday. Saturday and Sunday are holidays. In the first year, all students study general subjects from 9 AM – 5 PM. The lectures are 30 hours a week. In the second and the third year for the core subjects, the classes are 8 AM – 6 PM, i.e., 40 hours a week. The CSE/IT batch has only 25-30 hours per week. In the last year, classes are rarely held in the institute. The lectures are approximately 12-15 hours a week.

Ques
While applying to the US for an MS, are NITs (Surathkal, Trichy, Warangal) considered the same level as the new IITs?

● Top Answer By Aaliyah Parveen on 12 Apr 21

Ans
No, NITs are definitely not considered of the same level as the new IITs while applying to the US for an MS. But, the fact that IITs are the best brand in India and the second-best brand are NITs, is well known to the admission committees of most of the institutions. Every year, students from the top three NITs make it to top universities in the US.  With the increase in this trend, NIT Trichy, Surathkal and Warangal are known to many institutions in the US.  Besides, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the top NITs and many international institutions also are of great help to the students. Top universities like Stanford, MIT, CMU, etc., commonly witness students from NIT Surathkal.  Therefore, making it to top-notch universities is certainly possible; all that you need is good grades, a good GRE score, good SOP, and a few publications.
