TIET MBA Admissions 2024 are open.

Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (TIET) MBA Admission 2024 is going on for the MBA and MBA in Business Analytics and Big Data. TIET accepts national entrance exams like CAT/XAT/ NMAT/ GRE/ GMAT/ CMAT/ MAT/ SNAP. Applicants who have not taken any of the tests mentioned above will be required to take the Thapar Management Aptitude Test (TMAT). Applicants may choose to write the TMAT even if they have written the aforementioned exams to improve their overall scores. Candidates will be required to submit a Video Statement of Purpose and go through an interview round for getting admission to the course. TIET also gives weightage to previous academic records of 10^th, 12^th, and Graduation marks in the admission process. Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology also has a provision for scholarships. It provides 75 merit-based scholarships to students with excellent scores in the qualifying exams.

The MBA program at Thapar University is offered through LM Thapar School of Management (LMTSM). It is a full-time 2-year program in 10 specializations. Fees for the MBA program have been revised for the year 2023-25. The total fee for the program is INR 10.21 Lacs for MBA in all specializations except for Business Analytics & Big Data. Thapar University MBA Eligibility

The eligibility required to apply for the Thapar University MBA program is a Bachelor’s degree in any stream with 50% aggregate marks. The candidates must have a valid CAT/ NMAT/ XAT/ CMAT/ MAT/ GMAT/ GRE/ Thapar Entrance test score. Candidates with work experience are exempted from 50% minimum eligibility criteria for a UG/ PG degree. TIET also accepts graduates with a professional qualification scoring a minimum percentage of 50% in all parts/sections of the Intermediate examination of CA/ CS/ ICWA/ Institute of Actuaries of India. The eligibility criteria is same for the all the specializations offered under the MBA program:

Thapar University MBA Admission 2024

Admission to the MBA program at Thapar University is done based on CAT/ XAT/ NMAT/ GRE/ GMAT/ CMAT/ MAT/ Thapar Entrance Test. The final selection of the program is made after the GD and PI rounds. There are five stages involved in the admission process of the TIET MBA program:

Stage 1: Submitting online application: Candidates applying to the program are required to apply online at www.lmtsm.thapar.edu. The stage requires basic details along with academic scores and management test scores (if any).

Stage 2: Application review: The applications are reviewed by the admissions committee. The decision of the reviewing committee is communicated to the candidates via email or SMS.

Stage 3: Evaluation Process: The stage involves an in-person evaluation process. There will be an academic readiness test and interview round.

Stage 4: Communication of decision: Whatever decision is made by the admissions committee is communicated to the selected candidate.

Stage 5: Final Counselling & Fee Deposit: The candidates at this stage are required to register for the program via E-counselling or in-person counseling. The process involves document and fee submission.

Thapar University MBA Scholarships

Thapar University provides scholarships for MBA students who have scored pretty well in their previous academics. About 75 scholarships are offered each year. The distribution of scholarships is shown in the below table.

For a course, Thapar University reserved 19 seats for GATE admission (General category). If you are in the top 19, you will receive a GATE stipend. Students with valid GATE scores can also apply for additional scholarships. If you have a valid GATE score and you are receiving scholarships from AICTE or any other funding agency you can apply for an additional scholarship of INR 5,000 per month from TIET. If you have a valid GATE score and you are not getting funding from any agency, you will get a scholarship of INR 12,400 per month. Students who aren’t GATE qualified, receive a scholarship of INR 10,000 per month for 10 months in an academic year.

One of my friends is a student at Thapar University, and here are some of the things that I heard from him. This is subjective and hence may vary from one person to another. The official time for entry at the boys' hostel is 10 pm. However, if you maintain a good relationship with the security guard at the hostel gate, you can roam around the campus at any time of the night. The COS road is the most preferred one for going to the hostels. The reason is unknown though. After college, hanging around nearby momo stalls or any other stalls is better than hanging around at the college canteen. Irrespective of how much distance you travel, the fare for the rickshaw/ e-rickshaw remains the same which is Rs. 10. If there is a Lab class right after the lunch break, then you still have got 10 extra minutes to chill. The lab teacher may appoint ME students for evaluation so you should always be nice to the ME students. Some teachers are known for detaining students even in their 7th semester, never mess with them. These are some of the things that you should keep in mind.

One of my friends is currently pursuing his Electronics and Computer Engineering at Thapar Institute of engineering technology, Patiala. Here are some snippets of his experience on campus so far. The institute has a 300-acre campus of lush green. So, surviving here won't be an issue. The institute organizes great workshops such as Hydraulics, Web Development, and Circuit Building, etc. He said after one and a half months, he realized that the institute offers lots of opportunities, and grabbing them is what you have to do. The hostels are well-maintained and the food is good enough. Hostels have good Wi-Fi speeds ranging from 1.2 - 3 Mbps sometimes. Professors are quite cooperative and they employ new techniques for teaching. There is a well-designed playing area. There is a badminton court, tennis court, synthetic track, etc. Juju’s Cafe, Pizza Nation, are some of the popular hangout places on campus. The rules and regulations are strict when it comes to discipline. Students are not allowed to leave campus after 7 pm. Hope this gives you an idea of what to expect at Thapar University.

Thapar University offers admission based on the JEE Main cut-offs or merit basis. So, the quality of students is usually high. The fee is a concern for students of Thapar as it has increased drastically to the level at par with BITS Pilani and others. But being a private institute, it does not get funding from the Government. So, the institute had no choice but to escalate its fee for up-gradation. The raised fee and seats had justified reactions from the students. There is a slight quality drop in the education, but it is not extreme to tarnish the institute's image. Such decline in quality is ordinary in the top institutes as well. common Overall, the institute has a decent bunch of students.

A few of my friends graduated from both these institutes mentioned above and here are some things they shared about them. Though a lot of people have always discouraged the ones taking admission to the Derabassi campus. They feel the Patiala campus of Thapar University is far better. You can study hard and change your stream by scoring good marks in your first year. And there is always an option for personal counseling.
