Christ University Admission Process

Christ University uses its own entrance tests for several UG and PG courses. BA LLB Hons and BBA LLB Hons applicants appear for the separate law entrance test, while MBA admission is based on accepted national management test scores followed by university-level selection rounds.

Admission Steps

  1. Choose the programme and check its eligibility requirements.
  2. Submit the online application for the chosen campus and course.
  3. Appear for ET-CU, CULEE, or the accepted national entrance exam, depending on the programme.
  4. Attend the next selection rounds, which may include Micro Presentation, Skill Assessment, Group Discussion, Written Assessment, and Personal Interview.
  5. Complete admission formalities after selection as instructed by the university.

UG Programmes (ET-CU)

ET-CU, or Entrance Test, Christ University, is used for most UG courses such as BBA, BCA, B.Com, B.Sc, BA, BHM, B.Tech, and B.Ed. Most courses need 10+2 in the relevant stream with 50% aggregate, while SC/ST students need 45%. The selection process includes ET-CU marks, Micro Presentation (MP), and Personal Interview (PI). For BCA, students must have studied Mathematics or Computer Science at the 10+2 level.

Law Programmes (CULEE)

BA LLB Hons and BBA LLB Hons are 5-year integrated law courses. Admission is through CULEE, which means Christ University Law Entrance Examination. Applicants need 10+2 in any stream with at least 45% aggregate. After CULEE, shortlisted students attend Micro Presentation and Personal Interview. LLM admission is through a law-specific ET-CU variant, and applicants must have at least 50% in LLB.

MBA Admission

The MBA programme covers Finance, Marketing, HR, Business Analytics, and Lean Operations. Applicants must be graduates and need one of these scores: 60th percentile in CAT, XAT, CMAT, or ATMA, 600 and above in MAT, 450 and above in GMAT FOCUS, or 295 and above in GRE. After application screening, the university conducts Micro Presentation and Personal Interview.

PhD Admission

For PhD admission, students need a Master’s degree or an equivalent qualification with at least 55% aggregate. Applicants with NET/JRF, CSIR-NET, or GATE do not have to take the written entrance test, but they still need to attend Skill Assessment and Interview. Other applicants appear for the written entrance test and then the interview.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum gives a lot of emphasis on research, for example, I'm currently in my 3rd semester and I have 3 subjects related to research: Academic Writing, Research Methodolody Lab, Qualitative Research Methods. Even though I'm very interested in research, I feel that the curriculum could have more subjects related to psychology so that it would be helpful for us to chose which specialization of psychology we would like to move forward with in the future.

Placement Experience:

There aren't much placements for the course I am pursuing, because in psychology people usually prefer to go ahead with further higher studies instead of directly going for a job after Bachelors. I personally would also do a Masters after my graduation.

The course is very relevant to its nature and includes lots of soft skills development as well. Technological teachings like excel, power bi and many coding languages prepare the students for the real world challenges that lie ahead of them The assessments and exams are very frequently conducted. There are continuous assessments along with mid semesters and end semesters which are quite tough.

Placement Experience:

The placements are very good compared to other colleges. Companies like GoldmanSachs and DeShaw come for placement opportunities. There are about 75 companies visiting offering over 200 jobs yearly. The highest package would be 20LPA and average being 8LPA. 40 percent students get placements I plan on sitting for placements

Course Curriculum Overview:

The first year course that we studied is an absolute waste of time. We study all common subjects and i feel like it's a waste most of the subjects are irrelevant. The second year syllabus that i am learning is on the topic and about the topic so that's not a problem

Faculty:

The faculty are pretty good. They are all highly educated as well. We get a lot of time to interact with teachers. They always respond to our messages and we can alsoeet them in the staff room. So meeting teachers clearing doubts is not such a big issue.

About my course, the curriculum is really good, the subjects have been segregated well and we follow a good timetable which is also refreshing and keeps all the students interactive and is also fun. Our exam timing is for 3 hours which is sufficient enough for us to be calm and complete our exam.

Placement Experience:

From the 2nd year, students are given training on aptitude and communication and how an interview will take place and how their body language and stuffs should be. It is really good to have trained for our placements from the second year it self, we have a good experience and it is really helpful for us.

Having done some research on both the colleges, I have gathered some information which I am going to share with you. Hope this answers your question.

  • Christ University Bangalore is a more experienced institute. It has the locational advantage being in Bangalore, which is the IT hub of India.
  • A student of Christ University enjoys higher chances of being hired by IT MNC firms, after completing BBA.
  • There is no exit option for the IPM course in IIM Indore once enrolled.
  • In the current scenario, companies are showing preference to students who have a multi-disciplinary background. Pursuing a BBA and MBA with specializations will be a better option than pursuing a program for five years.
  • Moreover, the average packages offered to the students who are pursuing IPM is less than that offered to the students who are pursuing PGDM.
Categories Christ University Bangalore
Course Fee 5 lakhs
Highest CTC 8 LPA
Average CTC 3.56 LPA
Recruiting Companies Tech Mahindra, Accenture, IBM, Dell, etc.

The final two years of IPM are PGDM. The reason for this is that IPM students have to take IPMAT and for PGDM, they will have to take CAT. CAT is much more difficult than the former. In addition to that, IPM is a new course. So it is really not worth the enormous amount of money. In Christ University, you will know the extent of its brand value.

It all depends on what you want to do. Here are a few things to think about:

  • Flexibility -You have a lot of time at DU. You can study Actuarial Science, CFA, CFP, Data Analyst, CIMA, ACCA, CS, CWA, and many other things. As a result, more career opportunities are available at DU. Christ is very strict about attendance, and you don't have time, so you must concentrate solely on the course.

  • Fees - College fees are approximately Rs 12000 per year, as opposed to Rs 1,000,000 in Christ.

  • Exposure - There are numerous societies at DU that can provide excellent exposure. Society is better in Christ, but imagine 4000 students competing for that opportunity. Furthermore, DU departmental and college fest are better experiences for students than Christ because students manage everything from arranging funds to organizing every event without much help from authorities. Furthermore, you can compete in competitions organized by various DU colleges ranging from debate, music, and dance to mock stock, treasure hunt, and beg, borrow, and steal. However, because you are required to give regular presentations in class and because of the diversity of students, Christ aids in the development of an average person's personality.

  • Placement- At 95%, you can get DCAC or Shaheed Bhagat College, which do not have a placement boost of more than 20-30%. However, in Christ, you will receive more than 70% placement ( depends upon course though ). The average salary given is not significantly different. (Approximately 3 to 4). However, some companies that offer better packages do come in Christ ( i.e above 5 lac ) Some sales and marketing firms unrelated to your course may be present in DU.

  • Curriculum - The curriculum at DU is outdated and lacks a practical aspect, whereas at Christ, they will provide you with numerous case studies and a rigorous syllabus. During your three-year tenure at Christ, you will be required to complete an internship and work in an NGO.

  • Emotional Benefit - Because Christ has a good ranking, a large crowd, a great environment, and a good infrastructure, you will feel more confident. It might not be the case in DU.

  • Faculty- Professors at DU are far more qualified than those at other colleges, and some are published authors as well. However, because they are a government institution, some do not teach at all and waste time. There are a few who teach exceptionally well. In Christ, even if they are not college or research paper qualified, almost all of them teach and even encourage students to come to them.

  • Alumni & Peer Group - Alumni of Christ are not strong enough to make a significant impact. North campus colleges in DU have excellent alumni. In terms of the south campus, it is the same as Christ for colleges such as SBSC, DCAC, Gargi, and so on. Peer group is also similar in terms of hard work and intelligence (though it may be higher in DU). However, the overall alumni of Delhi University are far more accomplished than Christ ever will be.

Colleges also assist in providing an initial push. It makes no difference where you went to college once you get a job. So it all depends on your goals and the type of person you are. If you can plan and follow it, you will have more time to do things that will help you achieve your goals more easily because Delhi has the best coaching facilities for everything. If you simply cannot, choose Christ because you will be required to work due to regular assignments, which instills discipline in a person.

Among these, ISBR is better. Students are groomed through experiential academics. During the course cohort, you will get to attend various corporate visits, events, workshops, and seminars and learn the latest industry trends.

ISBR Bangalore placements are excellent. Accenture, Bajaj, Cars 24, Decathlon, and HDFC are some of the major recruiters for the institute. During the 2022 placement drive, students received an average CTC of INR 7.5 LPA. While the highest CTC was INR 11 LPA.

  • Obviously the placement opportunities are better at IIM than at any other university.

It’s your attitude towards learning that matters more than the college itself. Yet if I have to comment on the two colleges, I would say Christ University is a fairly good choice. The main reasons are

  • The fest culture makes you come out of your comfort zones and test your limits and diversify your talents.
  • The overqualified rules set by the college increase your patience level ten folds
  • You get to live in Bangalore, the city of innumerable opportunities and dreams.

However, if you are joining the college with the mindset of being taught then you need to rectify it. Here it’s you who has to force yourself to learn no one is going to push you. Anyone who wants to learn about business, in reality, will not be able to gain much from this B School. The B School churns out managers only. Rarely does it give birth to a business owner or entrepreneur despite the university’s module for entrepreneurship in a semester.
