Read Full ReviewMy cousin was a student of Mathematics at Sri Venkateswara College. Based on her experience in the same I will list down some key features of the college:
Faculty- The faculty of this college is without that the best. The professors of Mathematics and even other courses will make you fall in love with the subject. Just stay committed to your course.
Infrastructure- Since you will spend a few years in college, infrastructure matters a lot. Classrooms are well-designed and laboratories are well-equipped. Hostel accommodation is provided for the topper of each course. A new science block is being constructed to add to its infrastructure.
Extracurricular activities- If you are a student here, you will get enough exposure to develop your personality. Apart from academics, this college has a list of glamour studded societies in every field.
Placements- The science students get lesser opportunities as compared to others. A package of around 5-6 LPA is offered to Economic students.
Nexus- This is the most awaited cultural fest of the college. It’s a 3-day fest with a list of versatile activities. It’s the most glamorous event in the college.
Sports- The college has a lush green field with a modern cricket pitch. It also has teams in almost every game like Cricket, Football, Badminton, Basketball, Volleyball, Tennis, Chess, Athletics, Squash.
Sri Venkateswara College is a top-notch college of Delhi University. It will give you an experience of a lifetime. Just stay committed to your goals and studies and this college will help you achieve your dreams.
Both Ramjas and Sri Venkateswara are reputed colleges under Delhi University. According to the reviews online Sri Venkateswara (SVC) is better when it comes to commerce than Ramjas.
SVC has better placements, faculty and overall exposure. Both colleges are very much involved in cultural activities and extracurriculars. If you are willing to opt for a science course then go for Ramjas, Commerce is better in SVC. They both have no strict rules to maintain a 75% attendance, you should just have enough to sit for the internals.
Students who are unable to sit in the internals due to their involvement in clubs and societies have to submit an ECA to their teacher. This is possible in both the colleges.
Ramjas has a better infrastructure than SVC. But all these do not matter much, if you are dedicated to your studies, you can succeed in any college. Choose the college nearer to you, the north or the south campus.
For a BCom (H), Venky will be a better option. It has a better faculty base. The student crowd is also engaging. Kirori Mal is a decent college but it is more reputed for its science subjects. While Ramjas is more well-known for its Arts courses. For B.Com, Venky is the best among these institutes.
Among Sri Venkateswara and Ramjas, the former is the better option for a B.Com program.
The administration at Venky is quite good. It has many active societies. Everything at the institute is online. You can easily get your admit cards or pay your fees. It also offers better academics and faculties.
It is suggested that you go for Sri Venkateswara College (SVC) or Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce (SGGSCC), as both colleges are famous for their commerce department.
They have the best, most experienced faculty with some professors having 15-20 years of educational experience. You will have opportunities to take part in extracurricular activities through clubs and societies. SVC also has the best placement opportunities and has the advantage of being in Satya Niketan, the best college of south campus.
Therefore, your first choice or preference should be either SVC or SGGSCC, followed by Ramjas college.
Among the institutes mentioned, Hansraj is the best option to pursue a BA in History honors. Here are the benefits of choosing the institute.
Among Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College (DDUC) or Sri Venkateswara College (SVC) it will be better if you go for SVC.
Here are some reasons:
Categories | DDUC | SVC |
Course Fee | INR 45,150 | INR 36,348 |
Average CTC | 4-6 LPA | 2.5-5 LPA |
Recruiting Companies | DE Shaw, Byju’s, etc. | KPMG, Deloitte, EY, etc. |
Therefore, it is suggested you go for SVC as it will provide you with better exposure and opportunities.
I know people from both JMC and Venky. Based on the things I heard from them, I will say Venky is definitely a better option for doing a B.Sc (Hons) in Mathematics. Here is why.
Considering all these factors, it is safe to say that Venky is definitely a better option.
Both colleges have their fair share of similarities and dissimilarities. Let me provide some facts about both of them, analyzing which you can move ahead with your decision.
Therefore, you can analyze these factors and compare the colleges, see what best suits your requirements, and finally go for it.
This entirely depends on your preference. If you are interested in Computer Science then your goal should not only be CIC.
You can get into IIT, NIT, BITS, etc. which are also excellent in terms of CS. So, make your goal clear, as college is not the factor. Do not take a drop for just a college, take it only for CS, and no matter the institute, work hard to succeed in it.
If your interest lies in CIC then you should continue it. But keep in mind that you are from a commerce background, so it will not be easy for you to compete with other students of science background.
SVC is one of the best colleges of DU and your course is the most popular among students, so if you think to pursue your career further in commerce, SVC is really a good option.
