Krea University is a newly established university, students tend to have their doubts while opting for it. Ashoka University on the other hand is a well-known esteemed university and is a brand tag in itself resulting in a huge number of aspirants. Academics: The students of Ashoka University have been the aces for a long time. The Social Science department (Economics, Political Science, History, and Sociology) is often compared to Delhi University&rsquo;s Social Science department which is a huge achievement. Their Computer Science course is exceptional and has been approved by the University of Pennsylvania&rsquo;s CiS. The environment at Ashoka is lively and competitive. Faculty: The academics in both the universities are similar but Ashoka University has better and higher qualified faculty with numerous research papers to be credited for. They have full-time professors who are helpful and cooperative.  Location: The distance of the university from your residence is a huge determining factor. Krea University is two and a half hours away from Chennai City and Ashoka University on the other hand is over an hour from Delhi. It is a known fact that Delhi has better transport facilities therefore traveling and transport facilities are not much of an issue. Krea University is located in a remote place and the only transportation available is by bus from Chennai. Students who would choose comfort over education would rather strike out this option.  Financial aid: The financial aid provided in both universities is limited as it depends on fundings and financial constraints. It is suggested to not rely on it much as it would not be sufficient.  Krea University is undoubtedly a rising to the top university and would be filled with challenges if you opt for it. For now, Ashoka University seems to suit better for any student.

Ashoka University is established in a better manner with its campus, facilities, and members of faculty. Here are some of the facts about both Ashoka and Krea. The hostel, library, students, and, most importantly, the great instructors comprise Ashoka. Particularly the history and literary departments of the University have many great facilities to offer to the students. However, Krea follows a similar pattern for the departments of liberal arts. The current hostels and classrooms of the university are excellent. Some of my friends were in the first batch of the university and their experience was pretty good. The members of the faculty and administrators hired thus far are good. I would suggest that you should take into account the location of both these universities before making your decision.

How is a regular day or week like at Krea University?

Krea University has such a diverse group of students. Almost everyone has distinct schedules for the day. According to some of my friends studying there, People who sleep late and wake up a few minutes before the early risers have classes to attend. The classes would begin at around 8-9 AM., depending on the timetable. Each lesson would last an hour or an hour and a half, with 15-minute breaks to recharge or for snacks. The morning session concludes at 12:30 PM., and classes in the afternoon may begin at 1:45 PM or 2 PM, depending on the schedule. Usually, the classes last until 4:30 PM. Everyone has a varied schedule for studying and finishing assignments that are due. You will see a diverse group of people, some of whom may be wandering around campus or sitting inside the library or other establishments such as Longue till it shuts. Saturdays and Sundays are non-working days at Krea University, some students may sleep all day or go out and do other activities. Every day is exciting, enjoyable, surprising, intriguing, and incredible at Krea University.

One of my friends is from Krea University. According to him and after doing some research online I gathered the following things. Krea University is the embodiment of exclusive and exceptional education. The academic structure is formulated in a way that helps students not only in their curriculum but also prepares them for the outer world. The faculty here is highly experienced and holds expertise in their field of study. The campus has several co-curriculums and clubs as well for football, basketball, badminton, cricket, volleyball, etc. The campus at Krea houses a salon, caf&eacute;, open-air theatre, media lab with V. R. Technology, medical dispensary, laundry service, atm machine, a science lab with modern facilities being installed. Krea University does not only claim to offer exceptional academics and career opportunities to students but makes it evident as well. Based on the family income of the students, Krea University offers financial aid to support them. They have initiated a work-study program as well. The campus has a great serene environment creating a calm, positive atmosphere all over the campus.

How was your experience of immersion day with Krea University?

This answer is based on what my brother experienced during his immersion day at Krea University. His immersion day was conducted via online mode in June during the 3rd round of the admission process at Krea University. A day prior, the authority members of Krea organized an online meeting through Zoom to make the students who would be part of the event familiar with one another. The session started with a professor at Krea University giving a presentation on subjects like disproportionate development and migration. The students were required to listen and pay attention to what the presenters were saying. The attendees were provided with 30 minutes to compose a reflective essay about their understanding of the topic. For this, the students were advised not to reuse the information mentioned in the presentation. For the Group discussion/Presentation portion of the immersion day, the students were provided with around 2-3 minutes to speak on the topic and present their ideas and opinions. The Personal interview was enjoyed by my brother. The students were asked questions about their personal stories that they include in their application. The students were asked about their academic interests and their stream in Classes 11th and 12th. A week later, a 7-question proctored exam was given to the students to assess their mathematical and logical reasoning skills. The test would be simple for you if your class 10 math fundamentals are clear. My brother thought their method of picking candidates was quite interesting and unique. He was never bored during the sessions because he learned a lot from the professors and the student debates.

One of my friends studied at Krea University. According to him, their U.G programme admissions process is both unique and innovative. The following is the procedure for admission: To enroll in a UG course at the university, you must first create an account on the admissions portal and register yourself as an applicant by entering a few basic details. Fill out the application by going over each section one by one: Section 1: Personal narrative Section 2: Academic Details Section 3: Extracurricular activities. Section 4: Personal information Section 5: Additional details The next stage of the admission process is what makes it more interesting. Based on the application form, the admissions committee selects the student for the following stages of the admission process. KIC or Krea Immersive Case candidates are chosen from all the applicants. Case studies, reflection essays, mathematical and logical exercises, group discussions and presentations based on the case, conservation with a panel of faculty and admissions team members are commonly included in the KIC. There are no prerequisites for any of the processes described above. You can connect with the former and current students of the university to know more about the intricacies. Due to the current pandemic, the UG admissions at Krea University will be done via online mode, for the time being, to comply with regulations implemented by the concerned authorities in the interest of the health and safety of the applicants and staff members of Krea University.

One of my friends studied at Krea University. According to him, it is well-known for offering a wide range of curriculums to its students.  Stimulations available on VR platforms allow students to enhance their skills and gain knowledge in their field of interest. Apart from learning, the students are allowed to play games and articulate innovation in it. Even the students interested in photography, videography, and editing may use it to their advantage as there is present such professional equipment through which these students could learn better. The movie screening is scheduled three times a week on campus. There are currently eighteen clubs in the school of interwoven arts and science at Krea University. The clubs are responsible for organizing several extra-curricular activities. There is an extracurricular committee that is exceptionally in-charge of organizing festivities across diversity. They have Choir and Acapella classes held in the university. The academic structure is such that provides students with enough time to discover their passion and interest in channeling their creativity for the betterment of their future. Some of the clubs active in the campus are Conversation, Dance, Fine arts, Gaming, I&E (Innovation and entrepreneurship), Literary Arts, Media Arts, and many more.

Between Ashoka University and Krea University, which is a better option for UG in Liberal Arts?

The major differentiating factor between the two is that while Ashoka is a reputed university that has made a name for itself Krea University is comparatively new to people and has yet to achieve that place. Certain points that one can consider while comparing the above two institutes are: FACULTY: Apparently since Ashoka University is much older and more reputed than Krea University it provides elite professors to its students. Although the faculty at Krea is also amazing it still lacks when compared to that of Ashoka&rsquo;s. FEE STRUCTURE: Apparently, Ashoka university is a bit more expensive than Krea University. Although both universities have provisions for education loans, financial aid etc. (refer to college brochure for details). Also, the details of fee structure for the mentioned course in respective colleges is as follows: INTERNATIONAL EXPOSURE: Interacting people with different backgrounds is one of the essential components of Liberal Arts. Ashoka&rsquo;s Summer Abroad/Semester Abroad programs provide students with these opportunities. This is because they also have tie-ups with some of the best institutes of the world including University of Pennsylvania, Yale University, University of California-Berkeley etc. which also provides their students to attend guest lectures from the professors of best universities of the world. However, Krea University has also partnered with some elite international organisations (i.e. the Academic Internship Council (AIC), University College Cork (UCC), Australia Council for the Arts and University of Wellington (UoW) New Zealand India Research Institute (NZIRI)). And the number is yet to increase with time. STUDENT GROUP AND PLACEMENTS: Since Ashoka has established a name for itself it attracts mostly the best students of the country due to its past records and reputation which is a feat that Krea University will take some time to achieve since it is a newly established university (for UG in liberal arts). Ashoka University maintains a decent track record of placements including recruiters such as RBL BANK, Albright Stonebridge Group (ASG), Microsoft Research (SGO), McKinsey & Co, Ernst & Young (EY), Bloomberg Quint, Mu Sigma, Boston Consulting Group etc. with average package offers ranging from 7-9 LPA. Whereas since the first batch of liberal arts at Krea was incepted in the year 2018 the placements scenario is yet to unfold.
