So, you will get a lot of time for self-study or work on your different hobbies.  The peer group is amazing. You will share your lectures with talented people from different backgrounds.  NIT Jamshedpur alumni base is huge. Most of the alumni are placed in good positions in the core sector.  NIT Jamshedpur placement 2022 concluded with an average CTC of INR 13.2 LPA. My friends keep on claiming that this city is a mixture of the craziness of Kolkata as well as the lights and glamours of Bombay. The campus is lush green and huge so you can stroll around peacefully in the early morning or evening - especially towards the River Kharkai. Outside the campus, you can head to nearby Bistupur Market or Dimna Dam for a day out. You can engage in various extracurricular activities, technical festivals, and sports. The placement reports of NIT Jamshedpur are overall good. But, the placement percentage and the average packages you will receive depends on the branch. Both small-scale industries and large-scale industries visit the placement drive. TATA Steel is one of such large-scale recruiters at the campus.  The departments that are apparently doing well in terms of placements are CSE, EEE, Metallurgy, and Manufacturing. These are a few branches that you can consider. There are several students who obtained chances to be placed in their core sector. The classes in NIT Jamshedpur usually start in the month of August for a new session.  BTech courses are four years long and each year has two semesters i.e. Autumn and Spring. After two and a half months of summer break, the Autumn semester usually starts around 1st August. Spring semester starts around the first week of January after winter break.  Classes for freshers usually start around the 2nd week of August. There will be an announcement regarding the same on the official website. So, keep checking the website to know the starting date. On a regular working day, students have classes or laboratories anytime between 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

My friend recently graduated from NIT Jamshedpur. Here is her review.  Location: The campus is located in Adityapur, surrounded by industries. It is a bit away from Tatanagar Railway Station. Since Jamshedpur doesn’t have an airport the best way to reach the campus is from Ranchi via NH-33.  Infrastructure-wise: Both the hostels and the computer centers are revamped. The main buildings of the campus are still under further development but are expected to be in maintenance soon. However, the mega hostels, known as J & K, are an enhanced sight of the campus.  Academics The quality of professors or the methodology of their teaching is quite not up to the mark. Few professors of the institute somewhat still follow the old pedagogy and are sometimes not cooperative. On contrary, the newly appointed Ad-hoc faculties are supportive and are willing to guide students.  Students of the institute perform well in competitive examinations. Many made it to IITs, IIMs, or various international institutes as well. I have a friend at NIT Jamshedpur, so I can give you a brief idea about the CSE department.  The placement of the CSE department in NIT Jamshedpur somehow reached some new highs over the last few years. NIT Jamshedpur for CSE and NIT Calicut for ECE both have good placements. It depends on you which branch you are interested in. One of my friends is studying at NIT Jamshedpur so I will give you insight into the institute’s branch.  The placement of NIT Jamshedpur is good with 100% placement. Almost 50% of students get multiple placement offers.  The average CTC offered to CSE students is around INR 9 LPA to INR 10 LPA.  The placement of NIT Calicut departments is also good.
