Industry-oriented: DTU's curriculum is often designed to be industry-oriented, ensuring that students acquire the skills and knowledge relevant to the job market. Challenging exams: Exams can be challenging, requiring a deep understanding of the subject matter. Regular study and practice are essential for success. Student Performance: Pass rates: While the pass rates can vary depending on the course and individual student performance, most students are able to pass the exams with adequate preparation. Repeat courses: In cases where students fail courses, they may have the opportunity to repeat them in subsequent semesters. Good and Bad Aspects of the Course: Good aspects: Strong academic reputation Experienced faculty Excellent placement opportunities Vibrant campus life Bad aspects: Competitive environment High workload Limited flexibility in course selection (in some cases) Academic Schedule: Number of exams: The number of exams per year can vary depending on the course and semester. Typically, there are multiple exams throughout the year, including mid-term exams and final exams. Classes per day: The number of classes per day can also vary. Students usually have 4-5 classes per day, with a mix of lectures, tutorials, and laboratory sessions. Timings: Class timings typically range from morning to evening. Free time: The amount of free time students have after classes can depend on their course load, extracurricular activities, and personal commitments. However, there is generally enough time for students to balance their academic work with leisure activities. Teaching Methodology: Diverse approaches: DTU faculty employ a variety of teaching methodologies, including lectures, tutorials, laboratory sessions, and project-based learning. Experienced faculty: Many faculty members at DTU have significant industry experience, bringing practical insights into their teaching. Consequences of absence: Failure to meet the attendance requirement can result in penalties, such as being barred from exams or receiving a lower grade. Penalties: While it's rare for students to be penalized for attendance, it's important to adhere to the attendance policy to avoid any potential consequences.

Placement Experience:

100% Summer Placements: While DTU strives to achieve high placement rates, it's not always possible to guarantee 100% summer placements for all students. Unplaced students: Students who don't secure paid internships may explore other options, such as self-internships, research projects, or volunteering. Paid Internships: Percentage of paid internships: A significant majority of students at DTU secure paid internships. Stipend range: The average, highest, and lowest stipends offered can vary depending on the company, industry, and student's profile. However, DTU students generally receive competitive stipends. Preferred Companies and Stipends: Popular companies: The most preferred companies for internships can vary based on course preferences and student interests. Some popular companies include tech giants, consulting firms, and financial instituitions. Stipend: The monthly stipend offered by these companies can range from a few thousand rupees to several tens of thousands, depending on the company's size, industry, and the student's role. Bulk Hiring Companies: Hiring trends: Several companies, especially in the IT and consulting sectors, hire students in bulk for internships. Average stipend: The average stipend offered by these companies can vary, but it's generally competitive. PPO Conversion: PPO conversion rate: A significant number of students successfully convert their internships into Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs). Final placement: Yes, students who accept PPOs can typically sit for the final placement process to confirm their job offers. Internship Scenario in Other Courses: Variations: The internship scenario can vary across different courses at DTU. Some courses may have a higher demand for internships, while others may have more limited opportunities. Comparison: It's difficult to generalize whether the internship scenario is better or worse for other courses. Factors such as industry trends, course-specific requirements, and student preferences can influence the internship landscape.

Among these NSIT is better in terms of placements. DTU placements are good as well. But due to a lower batch size, the competition is lower at NSIT. Here are the highlights of NSIT placements 2022.

You should choose NIT Trichy, given a choice. DTU, and NIT Trichy both are quite popular. But the NIT tag will offer you better opportunities. NIT Trichy is constantly ranked among top NITs and offers academics at a similar level to most IITs. The institute also has a good placement record. NIT Trichy placements usually have an average CTC of INR 6.5 LPA. Here is an overview of the institute

Overall, NIT Trichy is a better choice than DTU

I don’t think anyone choosing IIT Delhi over any other engineering college has made a wrong decision given the opportunities and life experiences that come with it. While both are crucial, your choice of Institute is more important than your branch.

Here is a friend's journey for your reference l was a BTech student (Civil) at IIT BHU with a rank of 3600.

  • First, he completed a Nanodegree program from Udacity in Self Driving Cars and Machine learning
  • Next, he worked as a Derivative Trader in Future First where he performed Machine Learning and Deep Learning algorithms.
  • After gaining great experience and exposure he joined Quantela Inc for 2 Years where he worked as a Data Scientist.
  • Today, after a lot of job switches and immense experience he is working at Derq in Dubai as a Machine Learning Scientist and doing Online MS from Georgia Tech University in Computer Science.

This journey of a 7-pointer Civil Branch student to a high-tech CS company proves that branch does not matter in the end. He made the most of his campus life and kept struggling to switch his branch and eventually succeeded. That being said, you have made the right decision as only IIT Delhi can give you the right set of opportunities and exposure and not DTU.

BITS Goa is better than DTU and NSIT. Since the introduction of the home state quota, the quality of the student crowd has drooped down at these institutes. Due to the no reservation rule, BITS has a better peer group. Top NITs such as NIT T, NIT W, and NIT K are comparably better than BITS, but the difference margin is decreasing.

BITS Goa placements have been good, even during COVID. During 2021 placement drive, the average CTC offered was INR 16 LPA. While the highest CTC offered was INR 43.3 LPA. Some of the major recruiters that take part in the placement drive are Microsoft, Amazon, Google, Flipkart, etc.

If you are interested in programming then IIIT Allahabad is a better option.  It has an excellent coding culture. IIIT A follows a well-structured course curriculum. The first-year syllabus covers advanced topics such as Discrete Mathematics, Computer Organization & Architecture, and Data Structure & Algorithms, etc.  IIIT Allahabad Computer Science department has a superior faculty base compared to DTU. The institute has a thriving research culture in the field of Computer Science.

IIIT Allahabad placements have been great over the years. According to the placement highlights of 2022, the average CTC offered was INR 30 LPA.

You should consider DTU or NSIT CSE. Both are good options and almost at par with each other. DTU and NSIT have great coding cultures and good placement records for the CSE branch. DTU CSE average package is around INR 10-15 LPA. While for NSIT CSE, the average package is around INR 12-15 LPA.

Delhi houses many industries. So, it’s easier for students to get good placements and internship opportunities. You can also prepare for competitive examinations such as CAT, GRE, GMAT, etc. Delhi has many good coaching institutes.

You should choose DTU Civil. It offers better placement and exposure. DTU is among the leading technological institute in the country with a legacy of 50+ years. You can learn to code, irrespective of your branch. If you have decent coding skills, you can easily get decent job opportunities in the IT sector through campus placements. Your branch will not be an obstacle. DTU placements 2022 had witnessed the highest CTC of INR 1.2 Crore per annum.
