Financial Aid for Ph.D. Scholars

The full-time scholars are eligible for the Half-Time Teaching/Research Assistantship (HTRA). If candidates are selected for HTRA, they must:

Work (teaching/research) for 8 hours per week.
The renewal of assistantship will be based on the performance in research work.
The students can also apply for scholarships like UGC/CSIR-JRF, AICTE, ICMR etc. The amount of fellowship is decided as per the norms of funding institution.

Most of the newly constructed IITs suffer from the same problems compared to the old ones. They include lack of infrastructure, unchartered territory, etc. If you have to choose, go by branch and not by the IIT brand name. You can opt for other colleges like BITS Pilani, NIT Trichy/Warangal as they will provide much better opportunities, considering placements.

Both CSE in Vasavi engineering college and chemical engineering in IIT Tirupati are very good courses to pursue, but these both streams are very different from each other and have different applications.

Looking at the placement opportunities between the two branches, CSE at Vasavi Engineering College will be a better choice as this branch has a better scope and job opportunities. A lot of companies visit the college for interviews. Here are the recent placement highlights for Vasavi.

Both IIT Jodhpur and IIT Tirupati are reputed institutes. However, IIT Jodhpur is a second-generation IIT whereas IIT Tirupati is a third-generation IIT and has a long way to go to be at par with IIT Jodhpur.

Based on what I heard from my friends at IIT Jodhpur, I can say it has a terrific campus. It is the first fully planned technical campus with unique Incubation and Technology Park. IIT Jodhpur is making good advances in its placement and research work. Students at the institute get placed in core and non-core companies. Many alumni of the institute are also pursuing their studies in foreign universities.

The material science and engineering department at IIT Kanpur offers BTech, M. Tech, and Ph.D. programs with the guidance of highly accomplished and distinguished faculty members. The department of computer science and engineering at IIT Tirupati has always been involved in high-quality research and BTech, MTech, and Ph.D. programs are offered to students. COEP Pune Mechanical Engineering will be a better option. The institute boasts of an excellent Mechanical branch. Academics, faculty base, and placements are excellent. The branch has a placement rate of around 77%. According to COEP Pune placements, Mechanical students receive an average CTC of around INR 6-8 LPA. TATA, Mercedes, Siemens, Bajaj, etc. are among the major recruiters for the branch.

COEP Mechanical branch has various clubs such as BAHA, Velociraces, and Supra.

IIT Madras is ranked 1st by NIRF amongst top engineering colleges in India, while IIT Tirupati was recently established and hasn’t been ranked yet by NIRF. Various industry giants like Nasscom, Nokia, ISRO have collaborated with IIT madras for upskilling the students and funding the incubation centre.

CURRICULUM:

IIT Tirupati CSE- Key subjects taught are Fundamentals of operating systems, communication and networking, analysis of algorithms along with modern technologies such as AI/IOT/ML/Blockchain.
IIT Madras Chemical- Subjects include thermodynamics, principles and calculations in chemistry, plant, process and product design, mass transfer and reactions along with other core subjects. The course also includes more than 10 labs clearing practical fundamentals as well.

BITS Hyderabad, a private renowned technical and science institutes of higher learning in India, after the IITs and NITs. One of the 4 campuses of the BITS Pilani university, it offers BE and ME courses for CSE.

IIT Tirupati is an autonomous engineering and technology education institute and it was ranked 25 for Engineering by JEE cutoff 2019. Admission to the B. Tech CSE program is through the Joint entrance exam (IIT-JEE-Advanced).

Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT) at the present ranked 58th amongst top engineering colleges in India by NIRF rankings 2019 and offers BTech and MTech courses for CSE.

IIT Jodhpur and IIT Tirupati are reputed engineering technological institutes of India. Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur currently has a student strength of 854 across all of the undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Indian Institute of Technology Tirupati is an autonomous Institute offering several specializations under undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs.

Course:

IIT Jodhpur offers BTech in mechanical engineering. The students who have passed their standard 12th board examination with at least 75% marks in Science stream or equivalent are eligible.
IIT Tirupati offers BTech in mechanical engineering. Applicants must have 75% total aggregate in class 12th in PCM and English or Hindi or any other subject.

BITS Hyderabad, which is affiliated under BITS Pilani, ranked 30th by NIRF amongst top engineering colleges in India, is very well renowned for computer science. While IIT Tirupati and IIT Palakkad were recently established and haven't been ranked yet by NIRF. On the other hand IIT Dhanbad, previously known as ISM is ranked 15th according to NIRF for engineering.

IIT Tirupati and Palakkad- Both these campuses are under construction as of now and students have to stay in a transit campus. Hence, all facilities cannot be availed yet.
IIT Dhanbad- One of the oldest and largest colleges in the country. Has a huge library with over 1 lac books physically and many more digitally.
BITS- It is spread over a lush 200 acre space. 3 Huge Fests are organised every year which see a footfall of around 3,000. Various events and competitions are also organised round the year which help in holistic development.

The first batch of both IIT Palakkad and Tirupati graduated in 2019, hence detailed placement data is not available. BITS Hyederabad has around 95% placement rate for CS Branch while it is around 90% for IIT Dhanbad.
