Read Full ReviewNIT Agartala is a decent option in terms of academics, hostel, facilities, studies, and placements. Academics are decent. But there aren’t many chances for research. Professors are well-experienced and supportive but most of the time you need to depend on self-study.
Being a Central Govt. college, NITA offers good facilities. The departmental library, workshops, and laboratories are well-equipped. It offers virtual class facilities. ISRO has an innovation incubation center on the campus of NITA.
The institute has a decent placement record. According to the recent highlights of NIT Agartala placements, the highest and average CTC offered was INR 36 LPA, and 5 LPA, respectively.
One of my close friends graduated from the CSE department of NIT Agartala. I have friends from NIT Silchar and NIT Mizoram as well. Based on what I heard from them, I will say that NIT Silchar is a better option. The reasons why NIT Silchar is better than the other two institutes are as follows.
The difference between NIT Silchar and NIT Agartala is minimal. Both of these two are tier 2, old NITs and have similar pros and cons. NIT Silchar is marginally better than Agartala. However, the latter is catching up quite quickly.
NIT Agartala has the only supercomputer in the North East. ISRO has opened an incubation center in NIT Agartala, which is the first in India. Even, few companies choose to conduct joint placement drives for NIT Agartala and NIT Silchar.
So, there is not much difference between NIT Silchar and NIT Agartala. If you are getting your preferred branch at NIT Agartala, don’t choose NIT Silchar over it. As for NIT Mizoram, it is a fairly new institute and needs time to catch up with the other two institutes.
Having a friend who is a student of NITA and attended the counseling of AKTU I think I might be able to answer your question.
He was in a similar situation as you are in right now. His UPTU rank was around 2800 and his JEE Main rank was around 33000.

BIT Mesra is hands down a better choice over NIT Agartala. A few of my friends have studied at both BIT Mesra and NIT Agartala. Following points are based on their respective experience:

If you are truly interested in production engineering, it's better to opt BIT Mesra rather than NIT Agartala as BIT leads in every single aspect over NITA.
It is recommended that you go for any of the NIT Agartala or NIT Silchar over Tezpur University (TU). Here’s mentioning some points as to why it will be a better option.
If you are interested in studying CSE then only consider TU, otherwise NITs are the best at everything. Being a more experienced institute NITs can provide you the proper guidance and connections required to move forward in your career.
NIT Agartala ECE will be a better option. It is older and offers better facilities. The ECE department has an excellent faculty pool. The recent highlight of NIT Agartala placement shows ECE has a placement rate of around 100%. The average CTC for the branch is around INR 8 LPA. The highest CTC offered goes up to INR 15 LPA. Adobe, Nokia, Byju’s, Tata, etc. are among the major recruiters that visit the placement drive.
Considering these two institutes, as mentioned in the question, NIT Silchar is better than NIT Agartala, without any doubt. Followings are the reason why this institute is considered as best.

Thus, it can be mentioned that NIT Silchar has the best institute tag in North East India. This institute also gets a reward from the renowned magazine.
NIT Srinagar is good and if it is discussed in the North East, it is the most excellent. The infrastructure is quite good and the college administration is focused enough to give proper resources to each of its students for their appropriate development.
The campus is approximately 375 acres, with green lushes all around. Faculty members are also outstanding and friendly. Besides, placement statistics are really rising every year, which is good for this institute.

NIT Srinagar is growing at an excellent pace, and it will reach the top level shortly. It would be a renowned institute in India. Thereby, you need not to take admission in the North East NITs by thinking NIT Srinagar as a bad institute.
EE from NIT Agartala is better. The EE department is among the best department on campus. It department has a great faculty pool. You will also get many subject options compared to other departments in the college.
NIT Agartala EE placement average is 70%. Students get an average CTC of 6-7 LPA. Many private companies as well as PSU recruit students through the campus placement drive.
Although NIT Agarta holds a bigger brand name, it is still a growing NIT. On the other hand, PEC has an older history of about 100 years and continues to flourish.

All in all, it is recommended to choose PEC Chandigarh any day over NIT Agartala. PEC definitely belongs to the league with NIT Surat, Allahabad, and others. However, if the NIT tag is all that you are looking for, then go for NIT Agartala.
