The course curriculum is similar to all the other NITs. All faculty members are good but some are careless, but one can easily manage. The faculties are mostly Ph.D. Scholars, Professors, and M.Tech graduates. There are enough faculties for classes to be conducted. After taking admission, your mid-term exams will be 2 months away and one can easily pass the exam, just by studying one week before the exam.

I chose this course because of my interest and to get the NIT tag value. The student ratio is somewhat low as in my branch there are almost 30 percent are girls and then all boys The faculties are good and impressive. Almost most of all Ph.D. holders. (some of them are from NITs and IITs). Although there is a requirement for a more good teacher. Some professors are also very strict about attendance and file submissions. Here the exams are not that difficult means if you study one or two days before you will surely get a pass. Actually, there are 4 mid-sem and 2 end-sem in a year.

While talking about the Qualifications of the faculty I think most of them have completed PhDs and are highly Qualified. Most of them teach well and there are some who wouldn't connect to students. In a year there are 2-semester exams and each sem exam has a mid-exam it is very easy to pass if we are regular to class and follow up on whatever happens and maintain good attendance.

NIT Agartala is a decent option in terms of academics, hostel, facilities, studies, and placements. Academics are decent. But there aren’t many chances for research. Professors are well-experienced and supportive but most of the time you need to depend on self-study.

Being a Central Govt. college, NITA offers good facilities. The departmental library, workshops, and laboratories are well-equipped. It offers virtual class facilities. ISRO has an innovation incubation center on the campus of NITA.

The institute has a decent placement record. According to the recent highlights of NIT Agartala placements, the highest and average CTC offered was INR 36 LPA, and 5 LPA, respectively.

One of my close friends graduated from the CSE department of NIT Agartala. I have friends from NIT Silchar and NIT Mizoram as well. Based on what I heard from them, I will say that NIT Silchar is a better option. The reasons why NIT Silchar is better than the other two institutes are as follows.

  • NIT Silchar is ranked better than NIT Agartala and NIT Mizoram by NIRF.
  • NIT Silchar has a better placement record.
  • Students mostly prefer NIT Silchar over NIT Agartala and NIT Mizoram. So, it has a better opening and closing JEE/AIEEE ranks.

The difference between NIT Silchar and NIT Agartala is minimal. Both of these two are tier 2, old NITs and have similar pros and cons. NIT Silchar is marginally better than Agartala. However, the latter is catching up quite quickly.

NIT Agartala has the only supercomputer in the North East. ISRO has opened an incubation center in NIT Agartala, which is the first in India. Even, few companies choose to conduct joint placement drives for NIT Agartala and NIT Silchar.

So, there is not much difference between NIT Silchar and NIT Agartala. If you are getting your preferred branch at NIT Agartala, don’t choose NIT Silchar over it. As for NIT Mizoram, it is a fairly new institute and needs time to catch up with the other two institutes.

Which is better, NITA or IET Lucknow?

Having a friend who is a student of NITA and attended the counseling of AKTU I think I might be able to answer your question.

He was in a similar situation as you are in right now. His UPTU rank was around 2800 and his JEE Main rank was around 33000.

  • According to some research I did, I think NIT Agartala is much better than IET Lucknow in terms of both core and CSE/ IT branches.
  • NIT Agartala has been ranked as the top 75th engineering college by NIRF.
  • In terms of CSE/ IT branches, the placement scenario at NIT Agartala is much better compared to IET Lucknow.
  • In terms of core branches, the placement record is also very good.
  • The average package is around 5 to 6 lakh per annum in core branches.
  • The top companies that recruit students from IET Lucknow include Byju's, Unacademy, Airtel, Idea, BSNL, Wipro, TCS Digital, TCS Ninja, etc.
  • The top companies that recruit students from NIT Agartala are Google, Microsoft, and many service-based IT companies.
Particulars NIT Agartala IET Lucknow
Total fees 5.14 - 6.31 Lakhs 3.14 - 4.04 Lakhs
Placement percent 70% 65%
Highest salary INR 16 LPA INR 30 LPA
Average salary INR 7 LPA INR 6 LPA
Lowest salary INR 3.5 LPA INR 3 LPA

But if you are a resident of Uttar Pradesh and want to study nearby your location then you can go for IET Lucknow.

BIT Mesra is hands down a better choice over NIT Agartala. A few of my friends have studied at both BIT Mesra and NIT Agartala. Following points are based on their respective experience:

  • BIT has an amazing infrastructure, facilities, brand value, and student culture. Hostels are well maintained and are connected with High-speed internet facilities. The campus has a student-friendly ambiance and the weather at Ranchi is top-notch.
  • The curriculum is well balanced and up-to-date with today's technological trends. Apart from studies, the institute even focuses on various personality development and career counseling programs.
  • Many core companies visit the campus frequently and IT companies are always there for backup in the worst-case scenario so that you will not remain unplaced.
  • The only factor in which NIT Agartala seems better is in terms of tuition fees. BIT Mesra has twice the fee of NIT Agartala but it is justified for the quality of education, infrastructure, and facilities they provide.

Ayan Pal,

It is recommended that you go for any of the NIT Agartala or NIT Silchar over Tezpur University (TU). Here’s mentioning some points as to why it will be a better option.

  • The major thing the NITs possess is the brand name. This name could turn out to be really beneficial for your career ahead.
  • Overall placements at NITs are much better. Whereas TU is known only for its CSE department.
  • Top companies like Goldman Sachs, Wells Fargo, KPMG, ICICI Prudential, American Express, Barclays, etc. take part in NITs placement programs.
  • These companies offer salary packages ranging from 12-14 LPA. The average CTC rises upto 8.5 LPA.
  • The administration of NITs are well organized unlike TU.
  • Tezpur University being a newer establishment has very less industrial exposure, this is certainly better in the NITs.
  • NITs faculty is highly qualified and well experienced.

If you are interested in studying CSE then only consider TU, otherwise NITs are the best at everything. Being a more experienced institute NITs can provide you the proper guidance and connections required to move forward in your career.

NIT Agartala ECE will be a better option. It is older and offers better facilities. The ECE department has an excellent faculty pool. The recent highlight of NIT Agartala placement shows ECE has a placement rate of around 100%. The average CTC for the branch is around INR 8 LPA. The highest CTC offered goes up to INR 15 LPA. Adobe, Nokia, Byju’s, Tata, etc. are among the major recruiters that visit the placement drive.

Is NIT Silchar better than NIT Agartala?

By Sounak Banerjeeon 13 Apr 21
LC

Lipika Chakraborty

13 Apr 21B.tech from National Institute of Technology Silchar (2020)

Considering these two institutes, as mentioned in the question, NIT Silchar is better than NIT Agartala, without any doubt. Followings are the reason why this institute is considered as best.

Infrastructure

  • NIT Silchar is on the list of oldest NITs in India. It is also among the group of 8 RECs.
  • It has a well-organized infrastructure with 680 acres campus area with 3 girls hostel, 6 boys hostel, and 1 marriage quarter.
  • This institute also has the country’s largest digital library. Besides, college administration also provides outstanding sports facilities two each of its students.
  • The campus internet facility is just awesome.

Communication

  • If you consider communication, then NIT Silchar is in a far better position than NIT Agartala.
  • Additionally, the opening and closing rank of this institute is also healthier than the other one.

Academics and Research

  • NIT Silchar provides good academics and research facilities to its scholars.
  • This institute's research cell assists the students with abundant opportunities to discover things related to their respective research subjects.

Placement

  • It is one of the important points for an institute to judge.
  • In the 2016-2017 sessions, approximately 60+ companies came here to hire students from campus recruitment.
  • Every department of this institute provides placement, and CSE is the best for getting a job in the on-campus recruitment process.
  • Companies like Microsoft, Bharat Electronics, Sap Labs, Oracle, Directi, Power Grid Corporation, Indian oil, Wells Fargo, Indian Oil Corporation mostly come for recruitment.

In the following, a brief overview has been given related to the placement fact of these two institutes:

NIT Srinagar is good and if it is discussed in the North East, it is the most excellent. The infrastructure is quite good and the college administration is focused enough to give proper resources to each of its students for their appropriate development.

The campus is approximately 375 acres, with green lushes all around. Faculty members are also outstanding and friendly. Besides, placement statistics are really rising every year, which is good for this institute.

In the following, a brief overview has been given of these three NITs mentioned in the question.

NIT Srinagar is growing at an excellent pace, and it will reach the top level shortly. It would be a renowned institute in India. Thereby, you need not to take admission in the North East NITs by thinking NIT Srinagar as a bad institute.

Which is better - PEC Chandigarh or NIT Agartala?

GU

Gagan Umang

04 May 21B.Tech from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh (2019)

Although NIT Agarta holds a bigger brand name, it is still a growing NIT. On the other hand, PEC has an older history of about 100 years and continues to flourish.

Here are some insights into the PEC according to my friends who completed their B.Tech from there.

  • Faculty: PEC has some of the best-experienced faculties and many research scholars. On the other hand, NIT struggles to have enough experienced professors as the NIT is newly established.
  • Location: Chandigarh is at advantage any day because of its easy proximity and being an education hub. It is better in terms of facilities and coaching centers too. Whereas, Agartala is at a huge disadvantage due to accessibility and opportunities.
  • Quality of students: You can see a huge difference in the cutoff trend of JEE Mains rank for both the colleges. In the case of NIT Agartala, about 50% of the total seats are reserved for home-state candidates in the range of 90k to 1.5 lakh. Whereas the cutoff trend is much lower at PEC with just over 60 K for branches like metallurgy!
  • Clubs: You can choose over various clubs at PEC Chandigarh. Theseclubs are well renowned and they have even gained respect in IITs during fests and events.

All in all, it is recommended to choose PEC Chandigarh any day over NIT Agartala. PEC definitely belongs to the league with NIT Surat, Allahabad, and others. However, if the NIT tag is all that you are looking for, then go for NIT Agartala.
