Latest Update: VIT Vellore is inviting applications for MBA Program and the last date to apply is February 3, 2024. Candidates will be screened based on MAT/ XAT/CAT/NMAT/CMAT/ATMA/GMAT scores. CAT 2023 exam is scheduled for November 26, 2023. XAT 2024 registration has begun, and the last date to apply is November 30, 2023, and the exam is scheduled for January 7, 2024. Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) University is a deemed university located in the state of Tamil Nadu. This institute of higher education was formerly called Vellore Engineering College before it was conferred University Status in the year 2001 by MHRD, Government of India. the institution in its present state offers 20 undergraduate, 34 postgraduate, four integrated and four research programs.

VIT invites applications for admission to the MBA program offered by the university. The MBA program at VIT is offered at VITSB and consists of six trimesters. Students can choose a range of elective subjects from areas such as

Marketing
Human Resources
Information Technology and Systems
International Business
Operations
Business Analytics

Applications are available from November 8 till March 5. Candidates can apply online on the official website. Admission to the MBA program will be done on the basis of CAT/MAT/XAT/GMAT/CMAT/ATMA Score followed by PI.

Those who have not appeared in any of the exams then they need to give admission test conducted by university.

VIT Business School (VITBS) was established initially as the Department of Management Studies of VIT University. It offers two year MBA & MBA IB, whereas MBA-IB is available only at VIT Vellore campus. After completion of one year in Vellore VIT, Students have to spend second year of the course in University of Michigan-Dearborn or University of Massachusetts Boston. After completion the programme student will be awarded with MBA degree from both VIT & US Universities. Check VIT Admission

Admission Eligibility Criteria 2024

A graduation degree of a duration of 3 years with a minimum of 60% marks in any field from recognized University.
Degree programme should be regular & full time.
Students who are going to appear for qualifying exam are eligible to apply provided their result will be published.
Relevant work experience will be an added advantage.
Student must have taken any of the test; MAT/ XAT/CAT/NMAT/CMAT/ATMA/GMAT. Students must note that their scores should be available before the last date of application.

Selection Process 2024

Selection will completely depends on score obtained in entrance tests.
Shortlisted students will be called for Written Assessment Test (WAT) & Interview.
Final selection will be done on the basis of composite score containing these factors:

Academic score
Work experience, Awards & Recognition ( Profile scoring elements)
WAT score
PI score
Entrance test score (Which you have qualified)

Exam centers for the VITBS entrance test: Chennai, Coimbatore, Delhi, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Madurai, Guwahati, Ranchi, Vellore & Kochi.

Note: Students have to pay an advance fee of INR 10,000 on the day of written test which is non-refundable.

User Facts: Students who have qualified in CAT/ MAT/ XAT/CMAT/NMAT/ATMA or GMAT are eligible for direct admission to VITBS without going through the written test conducted by VIT. Students will be directly called for group discussion & interview if required by VIT authorities.

How to apply 2024?

The application form for admission to VIT University’s MBA program has been made available on the official website. Follow these steps to fill the application form:

Enter all the relevant details carefully.
A password will be sent from VIT to your registered mobile no. and email id.
Login using the registered email address with the password received from VIT
Provide all relevant details carefully, before submission.
An application number will be generated after submission.
Application cost of INR. 1350 only can be paid through Online mode (Net banking / Debit card / Credit card).

Passport size color photograph (3.5 cm X 4.5 cm) in jpg/jpeg format with a maximum file size of 200 KB.

If you have the required skill set, you can get interview calls from these companies. If you belong to some IIT, you will certainly have some advantage over the others.

IIT Gandhinagar is definitely the better choice among these. Being an IIT, the facilities offered by the institute are great. It offers decent academics. IIT Gandhinagar has made excellent progress in a very short span of time. It has witnessed good placements over the years. IIT Gandhinagar placements 2021 concluded with an average CTC of INR 8.96 LPA. HPCL, ISRO, Goldman Sachs, etc. are the top recruiters that took part in the placement drive.

Which one is better: VIT or MIT Manipal?

Comparably MIT Manipal is better.

The admission procedure at MIT is transparent. They declare the cutoff for each branch after each round of counseling.
MIT has a smaller batch size. The total number of seats for UG is 2040. Each branch has a proportionate number of seats.
MIT Manipal placements are better. As per the recent placement highlights, the average CTC and highest CTC offered to the students were INR 7.50 LPA and INR 43 LPA. Around 50 Fortune 500 companies visited the campus placement.

Although MIT charges a higher course fee, the return on investment is better.

For which should I go for VIT or Lower NITs (Hamirpur, Sikkim, Silchar, Agartala etc) for branch CSE?

Among the institutes mentioned, NIT Silchar is the best option for CSE. It offers great facilities and learning resources. It has the largest digital library in Asia. CSE departmental labs are well-equipped with the latest technologies. It has a supercomputing center as well.

NIT Silchar placements are great for CSE. Around 100% of students from CSE get placed. The average CTC for the branch is around INR 14 LPA.

How do VIT and Thapar compare?

I have a few friends from both VIT and Thapar. I will suggest you opt for Thapar University as it is one of the best colleges in this league.

Admission:

VIT and Thapar University both conduct an entrance examination for the selection of their candidates. However, VIT does not reveal the scores obtained by the candidates. At Thapar, admission is done on the basis of JEE Main marks. Moreover, both the admission and counseling procedure are translucent and there is no Management Quota. At VIT one can get admission on the basis of the category system whereas, at Thapar, the quality (merit-based) is given more preference.

Batch Size:

The number of students at Thapar University per branch is less in comparison to VIT where there is a crowd on a huge level.

FCCS System:

At Thapar FCCS system is present. It is a system that allows the students to choose the timings of their own classes and the respective teachers for those classes.

Although the facilities provided to the students at the VIT campus are exceptional you should not risk your academic career for mere facilities.

You should rather prioritize Thapar and try for a branch of your choice. If you do not get into it then opting for VIT would be better. But keep VIT as your second option.

Among these, Thapar is the best option.

Thapar University has a better brand value.
Since the institute takes admission based on merit, the student crowd at Thapar is better.
Thapar University has a better faculty base, comparably.
It offers great academics. The curriculum followed is perfectly balanced between practical learning and theoretical concepts. The labs are fully equipped. The university has signed an MoU with Trinity College for providing a research-inspired educational experience to students.
Thapar has many societies. You can register in any of these and develop an interest in whichever stream you want. Each branch has its own students chapters. The aim of the student chapter is to help students excel in technical fields.

VIT Vellore is better than Dayanand Sagar College of Engineering. It has better infrastructure. VIT has an excellent placement record as well. The average CTC for the institute is INR 8.19 LPA. During 2022 VIT Vellore placements, the highest CTC offered was INR 1.2 CPA.

If you are getting the same branch at VIT and Dayanand Sagar, choose the former.

Which is better to go for - Manipal Jaipur or VIT Vellore?

You should go for VIT Vellore. In terms of academics, placements, facilities offered, and exposure, it is better than Manipal Jaipur. It also has a better brand presence in the industry. VIT Vellore placements 2022 ended with an average CTC of INR 8.19 LPA. While the highest CTC offered was INR 75 LPA.

Is VIT better than most NITs and BITS GOA when it comes to CSE branch?

VIT and BITS both are excellent engineering schools in our country. Both of them are known for their academics and placements in the CSE department. A friend of mine has experienced all three institutes. During his time of admission, he was studying in VIT in the CSE department and then changed to BITS Goa.

It is considered as the brightest students of VIT is equal to an average student of CSE in BITS Goa.
The reason for this is mainly the programs and events being held at the institution continuously and frequently.
BITS Goa has amazing faculties too which is an added bonus.
Almost every student in BITS Goa is involved in Google Summer of Code (GSOC) or related to Competitive Coding.
This enables and pushes the student towards better personality build and development.

When compared to the NIT’s it all comes down to the NIT you’re comparing to. Older NIT’s like NIT Trichy have high scores even amongst premium education institutes for not just CSE branches but in every other major branch.
