Read Full ReviewFinal placements at VIT typically begin at the end of the 6th semester or early in the 7th semester, and the process can extend until the end of the academic year, often concluding in late spring or early summer. While a high percentage of students secure placements, a small proportion may remain unplaced by the end of the official placement period. The college takes additional measures to support these students, including organizing extra placement drives, workshops, and one-on-one counseling sessions to enhance their employability. The average CTC offered can vary widely, with an average around ₹6-8 lakhs per annum, while the highest can reach up to ₹40 lakhs per annum and the lowest around ₹3-4 lakhs per annum. Preferred companies for various courses include top tech firms and multinational corporations, which offer average CTCs in the range of ₹10-15 lakhs per annum. Companies that hire in bulk typically offer CTCs in the ₹6-8 lakhs range. The placement committee plays a crucial role in coordinating the placement process, liaising between students and companies, and ensuring a smooth process. While the placement process is generally considered transparent, some students may feel that certain aspects could be improved for greater clarity.
Colleges Applied to & Admissions Received: I applied to IITs, BITS Pilani, SRM University, and Manipal University. My JEE score was 92.3726 percentile, but unfortunately, I wasn't getting a seat in any of the top 10 NITs or IITs. While I got an offer from BITS Goa for Software Engineering, I decided against it because, coming from a middle-class family, the fees were quite high. I also got admission offers from SRM and Manipal, but I chose VIT, where I secured a first-category rank of 2583. Why I Chose VIT Over Others: 1. Affordability: VIT offered a much more affordable education compared to BITS Goa. With my rank, I got a seat in the first category, making the fees significantly lower. 2. Placements & Infrastructure: VIT has a strong placement record and excellent infrastructure, which made it a better option over SRM and Manipal. 3. Value for Money: VIT is a government-deemed university, offering quality education at a reasonable cost, making it more practical for me than BITS or private instituitions. 4. Location: Although Vellore is relatively far from my home, the overall reputation and opportunities VIT offered were worth the distance. Rejections & What Went Wrong: I couldn’t secure a seat in the IITs or top NITs as my JEE Advanced rank didn’t meet the required cutoffs. My primary focus was IIT, and although I came okayish close, it wasn’t enough to get a seat in a reputed government college. This is why I decided to explore better private university options like VIT. VIT Admission Process: 1. Eligibility: Minimum of 60% in PCM for 12th grade. 2. Exams Accepted: VITEEE (the preferred exam) and JEE Main scores for lateral entry into some programs. 3. Cutoffs: My VITEEE rank of 2583 allowed me to secure a seat in the first category. The cutoffs for top branches like Computer Science typically require ranks within the top 10,000. 4. Admission Experience: The process was smooth and transparent, with online counseling where students could choose branches based on their ranks. VIT was the best option for me due to its balance between affordability, placements, and infrastructure compared to other private universities like BITS or Manipal.

The process is very transparent in which you'll get a mail from companies about their offer and hiring process. First would be the ore placement talk which is either conducted online or in anna auditorium. Then if shortlisted you'll go through interview rounds and selected based on that. Average CTC would be 5-6 LPA according to my knowledge and mass recruitment companies that come to VIT are Ion trading group, Accenture, Capgemini, TCS, cognizant. They pay around 4lpa. Ion pays exceptionally well (14LPA) but take up a lot of people. The companies students aim here for are Bain and co, Flipkart, Zs associates, Moody's analytics, BlackRock, etc these companies offer amazing compensation and have a very good growth prospect for the students.
I'm from the 2020 batch (COVID) I had given JEE Mains and could not secure a very good rank to get NITs or IITs I had a few friends who were in VIT and had put in a very good word for it as well. This made me consider VIT and I got an admission there on the basis of my boards percentage and jee main marks. That particular year there was no VITEEE being held which is the usual process for admission normally.

Read Full ReviewCSE from VIT Vellore is the better option. In fact, after IIITs and BITS, it is considered best for the CS domain. The video below will give you an honest review of VIT Vellore
If you have a good command over Data Structure, Algorithm Design, and a bit of competitive coding, you can easily bag lucrative salary packages from reputed companies like Cisco, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, etc. According to the placement highlights of recent years, VIT Vellore CSE average CTC stays around INR 7 LPA.
Yes, companies such as Google, Apple, Microsoft, and Facebook hire students from BITS, VIT, or KIIT. In fact, they hire from colleges all across the country. These companies are all for skills. If you have the required skill set, you can get interview calls from these companies. If you belong to some IIT, you will certainly have some advantage over the others.
IIT Gandhinagar is definitely the better choice among these. Being an IIT, the facilities offered by the institute are great. It offers decent academics. IIT Gandhinagar has made excellent progress in a very short span of time. It has witnessed good placements over the years. IIT Gandhinagar placements 2021 concluded with an average CTC of INR 8.96 LPA. HPCL, ISRO, Goldman Sachs, etc. are the top recruiters that took part in the placement drive.
Comparably MIT Manipal is better.
Although MIT charges a higher course fee, the return on investment is better.
Among the institutes mentioned, NIT Silchar is the best option for CSE. It offers great facilities and learning resources. It has the largest digital library in Asia. CSE departmental labs are well-equipped with the latest technologies. It has a supercomputing center as well.
NIT Silchar placements are great for CSE. Around 100% of students from CSE get placed. The average CTC for the branch is around INR 14 LPA.
I have a few friends from both VIT and Thapar. I will suggest you opt for Thapar University as it is one of the best colleges in this league.
Admission:
VIT and Thapar University both conduct an entrance examination for the selection of their candidates. However, VIT does not reveal the scores obtained by the candidates. At Thapar, admission is done on the basis of JEE Main marks. Moreover, both the admission and counseling procedure are translucent and there is no Management Quota. At VIT one can get admission on the basis of the category system whereas, at Thapar, the quality (merit-based) is given more preference.
Batch Size:
The number of students at Thapar University per branch is less in comparison to VIT where there is a crowd on a huge level.
FCCS System:
At Thapar FCCS system is present. It is a system that allows the students to choose the timings of their own classes and the respective teachers for those classes.
Although the facilities provided to the students at the VIT campus are exceptional you should not risk your academic career for mere facilities.
You should rather prioritize Thapar and try for a branch of your choice. If you do not get into it then opting for VIT would be better. But keep VIT as your second option.
Among these, Thapar is the best option.
Further, the video below will give you a brief overview of Thapar University
These factors make Thapar better than VIT and SRM.
VIT Vellore is better than Dayanand Sagar College of Engineering. It has better infrastructure. VIT has an excellent placement record as well. The average CTC for the institute is INR 8.19 LPA. During 2022 VIT Vellore placements, the highest CTC offered was INR 1.2 CPA.
If you are getting the same branch at VIT and Dayanand Sagar, choose the former.
You should go for VIT Vellore. In terms of academics, placements, facilities offered, and exposure, it is better than Manipal Jaipur. It also has a better brand presence in the industry. VIT Vellore placements 2022 ended with an average CTC of INR 8.19 LPA. While the highest CTC offered was INR 75 LPA.
VIT and BITS both are excellent engineering schools in our country. Both of them are known for their academics and placements in the CSE department. A friend of mine has experienced all three institutes. During his time of admission, he was studying in VIT in the CSE department and then changed to BITS Goa.
Categories | CSE at BITS Pilani Goa |
Course Fee | 19.19 lakh |
Highest CTC | 24 LPA |
Average CTC | 11 LPA |
Recruiting Companies | Google, nVidia, DE Shaw, Arcesium, etc. |
When compared to the NIT’s it all comes down to the NIT you’re comparing to. Older NIT’s like NIT Trichy have high scores even amongst premium education institutes for not just CSE branches but in every other major branch.
