The placements of our college are satisfactory. The median and average package offered is 10LPA. The students become eligible for the campus placements from 7th semester onwards. There were 250+ companies visited and few companies were BPCL, BEL , IOCL, GAIL, GOLDMANN SACS, ORACLE , etc. The highest package offered was 35LPA. 80-90% students get placed . I wish to pursue masters or get into research PSUs , after completing my degree.
The admission to this course in VNIT, Nagpur is strictly based on the merit ranks obtained in the JEE-MAINS, PAPER 1, and later through the JOSAA AND CSAB rounds. All the candidates excluding PwD candidates are eligible for the course. The application form, fees, dates and all the other details can be checked at the website of JEE MAIN-NTA, or the Joint Apex board. The cut-offs for OBC reservation candidates are somewhat lower than the General category candidates, but still, they don't make much difference. The technicalities in conducting exams and counselling can be improved.

Almost 96 percent of the eligible students got placed in the CSE dept and about 82 percent got placed in the MME dept. The average package is about 1100000 and the highest package was 64lpa bagged by 10+ students.
The admissions are based on JEE mains scores. The usual cutoff percentile for a general male candidate for MME is 95 percentile. After your JEE, apply for JOSAA and CSAB counseling rounds and fill in your choices of colleges and courses accordingly. If eligible, you can get into VNIT.
Read Full ReviewFrom the start of the 5th semester, students get a chance for an internship in a reputed company and based on your performance they give you placement opportunities. There are around 120 companies visited the campus last year and a total of 500 offers were made. 90% of students get places every year.
To join in any NIT you should of course qualify for the Joint Entrance Examination(JEE) which is a competitive exam that is considered one of the toughest examinations in India. To qualify for any course in the general category your rank should be less than 80,000 for admission in the lowest branch in VNIT NAGPUR.
Read Full ReviewI chose this course as I was interested in electrical engineering the student-faculty ratio is around 50 to one. Facilities chosen are PhD scholars or professors who have completed their PhD degree. There are two exams taken mid-semester and end semesters.
To get into this college you have to qualify JEE mains paper. It is conducted every year. There is a 50% river reservation for the home state quota. There is also a reservation of ST SC and PWD candidates. You need to get a minimum of 20000 rank in JEE mains to get this college.
Read Full ReviewThe master's degree in chemistry is quite a good degree. It will help you to get a job at many PSU. The syllabus is according to GATE. The faculty members are also good. They are very humble and helpful. You can also apply for PhD here.
You can get admission by JAM. JAM cut for 2022 was around 42. The exam will held in February. Several courses are there, you can choose anyone. The placement in the college is quite good. 7-8 LPA is average. Many of them also get 11 LPA.
Read Full ReviewI am very ambitious about mechanical engineering. The quality of the faculties are very nice, and the level of the exam paper is also considerable. There are no days between two exams for preparation and 75 percent attendance is also mandatory.
I gave Jee mains. The Application process was very straightforward and clear. Cut off this time was 90 percentile for general. Application form was available on josaa.gov.in and 4000 rupees were taken as application charge. I got reservation benefits of obc, ncl. I think students should be allowed to change the order of the seats after round 1 as well.

Yes, NIT Calicut is better than VNIT and COEP. If you are getting your desired branch at NIT C go for it. It has better brand recognition and offers better placements and opportunities. NIT Calicut placements 2022 ended with an average CTC of INR 13 LPA. While the highest CTC offered was INR 67.6 LPA.
Among these, NIT Calicut is the best option for Computer Science and Engineering. On an overall scale, it is better compared to VNIT Nagpur and NIT Rourkela. NIT Calicut placements are around 100% for CSE. Reputed companies such as Amazon, Infosys, Cisco, and Microsoft recruit CSE students through the campus placements. The average CTC for the branch is around INR 17 LPA.
When speaking in terms of placement records, IIIT Allahabad is known only for B.Tech. However, M.Tech at the same institution tends to not get great offers. In fact, most companies do not permit M.Tech students from IIITA to sit for specific interviews.
Companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Hashedin, Morgan Stanley didn’t allow M.Tech students to sit for the interviews one particular year. That is one reason behind why IIIT, Allahabad does not make the placement stats clearly open in a branch-specific manner.

It is important to note that MTech IT (i.e., Intelligent Systems) is very well known at IIITA. If you are choosing to do Intelligent Systems at IIITA, then you will not regret that decision. You definitely will have the chance to sit for every company interview. However, if you do not get Intelligent Systems, then opting to go for NIT Nagpur is highly recommended.
In terms of placement, the preference order of branches are as briefed below:
Intelligent systems, IIITA> CSE, VNIT Nagpur> Advanced computing, NIT Bhopal> Information security, NIT Bhopal> Human-computer interaction, IIITA> Cyber Law IIITA> Software Engineering IIITA> Wireless communication IIITA.
One of my acquaintances who has graduated from VNIT has asked me to choose my institute by keeping the following points in mind.
- VNIT for metallurgy would be a suitable choice for you if you don’t have a particular liking. Apart from that, the metallurgy of VNIT holds an enviable position in India. The syllabus for metallurgy is vast and involves a lot of memorization.
- If you want CS and unfortunately end up not getting it, the next logical step would be to choose IT. The syllabus of IT and CS are almost the same. In the big picture, it will have little importance if you complete your B.Tech from VNIT or NIT Raipur. You will have a degree and you will not regret the decision you made.
IT has a lot of scopes. Later down the road, if you want to continue with your higher studies, you will be capable of switching to almost any department pertaining to computers. IT from NIT Raipur is an excellent choice.
The scope in the metallurgy sector is limited nowadays. It is obviously your call, though. There is vast scope in IT like research, job, etc.
For CSE, NIT Calicut is the best option among these NITs. It offers better placements and career opportunities. According to the recent highlights of NIT Calicut placements the average CTC offered for CSE students is around INR 17 LPA+. Around 100% of students from the branch get placed each year. Microsoft, Infosys, Amazon, etc. are the major recruiters for the branch.
BITS Goa is anytime better than all the NITs in India. The following are the reasons.
- BITS Goa has a huge brand name. It is a Tier-1 engineering college in India.
- The placement of the institute is excellent as compared to VNIT. BITS Goa has an average 90% placement success rate.

Overall, the fee of BITS Goa is on the higher side. But it is worth paying for its brand name. BITS Goa offers a lot of scope to the students and encourages the holistic development of the individuals. Even the faculty is experienced and helpful.

One of my acquaintances has a better opinion on the same. He says that if you opt to take admission at IIIT Allahabad, then you are more likely to have better opportunities in the IT field.
- Mostly, the students of ECE are thoroughly engaged in coding and are known to study ECE because of reasons that center around only graduating.
- While, on the flip side, in VNIT Nagpur, the students pursue ECE because they are interested in it.
- However, the placements of IT field are more likely to surpass the number of placements seen in ECE fields. This is because the core hardware companies relatively do not share the same amount of trust with the freshers.
- If you want to obtain a better salary package after graduating from a B.Tech course, then going for IIIT, Allahabad can be a superior option.
- While, if you relevantly want to pursue your career in most of the core ECE companies, then it is suggested that you opt for VNIT, Nagpur.

However, in most cases, 10-15% of students choose ECE companies, but ever since software companies have become high-paying, several students tend to rather opt for an IT job profile.
You are comparing two different branches; Computer (CSE) and Electrical (EEE). If you are naturally inclined towards a particular branch, then you should choose it no matter the institute. If you are not sure about the branch then let me share some facts I got to know while researching about the institutes.
- NIRF Engineering Ranking 2020 – VNIT Nagpur is ranked 27 while NIT Surathkal is ranked 13.
- Academics – In this regard both are equal. Some professors are good and some are really bad.
- Extra-Curricular Activities – NIT Surathkal is way better than VNIT Nagpur. You will always find some activity happening on the campus. VNIT Nagpur does not have any such activities being conducted regularly.
- Campus location – VNIT Nagpur is actually better than NIT Surathkal. Although the Surathkal beach which is right beside the college looks good in photos, the same cannot be said in person. The VNIT Nagpur campus on the other hand is clean and green.
- Workshops – At VNIT Nagpur most of the workshops organized by the clubs are paid while at NIT Surathkal most of them were free and open to all.

- IT companies offer job opportunities to people from computer science, electronics, electrical with a CGPA of 7. The same scenario is present in VJTI and COEP. They may provide better opportunities than VNIT.
- However, there are decent placements for mechanical engineering both in VJTI and VNIT.

- VNIT is best in terms of campus life. There are ample hostel facilities for the students.
- Students can interact and socialize with people not only from Maharashtra but from all over India.
- There are almost eight batches for the department with 60-90 students.
Student Activities- VNIT excels in expectations than COEP & VJTI with myriad festivals, clubs, and extra-curricular.
Research after Bachelors’- Lots of VNIT students get themselves into research work after their graduation. However, there is no available information for VJTI and COEP.
Considering all the aspects listed above, VNIT seems a better choice for mechanical engineering than COEP Pune and VJTI Mumbai.
