How to Apply for JEE Main 2023?

Candidates who are eligible for admission have to take the JEE Main. The application process is given below:

Visit the official website of JEE- Main
Register for the online application form
Make a note of the system-generated application number
Create a password
Log in again and fill out the form
Upload scanned images of photographs and signature
A fee of 650 INR (325 INR for reserved categories) will be charged/ It is to be paid through Debit card, Credit card, Net banking, UPI or Paytm.
Keep a printout of the application form for future use.

Candidates who have a positive JEE Main score have to go for JoSAA counselling. Follow these steps to register:

Candidates should have completed their bachelor's degree in Engineering in the relevant discipline from any recognized university or college.
Candidates should have scored a minimum of 6.5 CGPA in their graduation.

How to apply for GATE?

Those who are eligible for admission have to take the GATE. The registration process for it is given below:

After the form is submitted, an enrollment ID will be sent to the candidate’s mobile number.
Fill out the application form.
A fee of 1,500 INR (750 INR for women and reserved categories) will be charged. It is to be paid online.

CCMT Counselling

Candidates who take the GATE will have to go for CCMT counselling. To apply, follow the given steps:

How to apply to IIT JAM?

The candidates who are eligible for studying M.Sc have to take the IIT JAM. Follow these steps to register:

Visit the official website
Register through the link by entering the candidate’s name, email address and mobile phone number. Create a password.
After submitting the registration form, an enrolment ID would be sent to the mobile number.
Fill out the form. Include the details of the JAM papers and choice of JAM examination cities.
Pay the application fee online and keep a printout for future reference.
You can download the admit card from this portal later.

For counseling:

Visit the website of CCMN and click on “New Registration”.
Enter the JAM score details.
Enter the personal details carefully.
Click on “proceed’ to preview the filled out form.
Create a password and click on “Submit”. An OTP will be sent to your number.
Enter the OTP. A Permanent Identifier (PID) will be created. Once this happens, no more registration will be allowed. Use this to log on to the Candidate’s Corner from the next time onwards.

VNIT Nagpur Ph.D. Admission 2023

The institute offers 3 years PhD degree at doctorate level in various streams of Engineering or Technology, Architecture & Planning, Humanities & Social Sciences and Basic Sciences. Also, VNIT Nagpur charges a fee of INR 34,800 for the 1st year of its PhD degree.

Candidates are required to have a Master's degree such as M.E. or M.Tech with a minimum of 65% marks or 7.0 CGPA.

A brief review of VNIT NAGPUR

Remarks:

The admission to this course in VNIT, Nagpur is strictly based on the merit ranks obtained in the JEE-MAINS, PAPER 1, and later through the JOSAA AND CSAB rounds. All the candidates excluding PwD candidates are eligible for the course. The application form, fees, dates and all the other details can be checked at the website of JEE MAIN-NTA, or the Joint Apex board. The cut-offs for OBC reservation candidates are somewhat lower than the General category candidates, but still, they don't make much difference. The technicalities in conducting exams and counselling can be improved.

Remarks:

The admissions are based on JEE mains scores. The usual cutoff percentile for a general male candidate for MME is 95 percentile. After your JEE, apply for JOSAA and CSAB counseling rounds and fill in your choices of colleges and courses accordingly. If eligible, you can get into VNIT.

Remarks:

To get into this college you have to qualify JEE mains paper. It is conducted every year. There is a 50% river reservation for the home state quota. There is also a reservation of ST SC and PWD candidates. You need to get a minimum of 20000 rank in JEE mains to get this college.

You can get admission by JAM. JAM cut for 2022 was around 42. The exam will held in February. Several courses are there, you can choose anyone. The placement in the college is quite good. 7-8 LPA is average. Many of them also get 11 LPA.

VNIT NAGPUR-WHERE DREAMS MEET REALITY

Remarks:

I gave Jee mains. The Application process was very straightforward and clear. Cut off this time was 90 percentile for general. Application form was available on josaa.gov.in and 4000 rupees were taken as application charge. I got reservation benefits of obc, ncl. I think students should be allowed to change the order of the seats after round 1 as well.

Yes, NIT Calicut is better than VNIT and COEP. If you are getting your desired branch at NIT C go for it. It has better brand recognition and offers better placements and opportunities. NIT Calicut placements 2022 ended with an average CTC of INR 13 LPA. While the highest CTC offered was INR 67.6 LPA.

Which one is better for computer science and engineering and why: VNIT Nagpur, NIT Calicut, or NIT Rourkela?

Among these, NIT Calicut is the best option for Computer Science and Engineering. On an overall scale, it is better compared to VNIT Nagpur and NIT Rourkela. NIT Calicut placements are around 100% for CSE. Reputed companies such as Amazon, Infosys, Cisco, and Microsoft recruit CSE students through the campus placements. The average CTC for the branch is around INR 17 LPA.

In terms of placements, should I go for the IIIT in Allahabad or the VNIT for an MTech in CSE?

When speaking in terms of placement records, IIIT Allahabad is known only for B.Tech. However, M.Tech at the same institution tends to not get great offers. In fact, most companies do not permit M.Tech students from IIITA to sit for specific interviews.

Companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Hashedin, Morgan Stanley didn’t allow M.Tech students to sit for the interviews one particular year. That is one reason behind why IIIT, Allahabad does not make the placement stats clearly open in a branch-specific manner.

You, as a student, should prefer M.Tech at NIT Nagpur. Mentioned below are the statistics of M.Tech placements of VNIT Nagpur.

One of my acquaintances who has graduated from VNIT has asked me to choose my institute by keeping the following points in mind.

VNIT for metallurgy would be a suitable choice for you if you don’t have a particular liking. Apart from that, the metallurgy of VNIT holds an enviable position in India. The syllabus for metallurgy is vast and involves a lot of memorization.
If you want CS and unfortunately end up not getting it, the next logical step would be to choose IT. The syllabus of IT and CS are almost the same. In the big picture, it will have little importance if you complete your B.Tech from VNIT or NIT Raipur. You will have a degree and you will not regret the decision you made.

IT has a lot of scopes. Later down the road, if you want to continue with your higher studies, you will be capable of switching to almost any department pertaining to computers. IT from NIT Raipur is an excellent choice.

The scope in the metallurgy sector is limited nowadays. It is obviously your call, though. There is vast scope in IT like research, job, etc.

Which is the best NIT among SVNIT Surat, MNIT Jaipur, VNIT Nagpur, NIT Rourkela, NIT Calicut for CSE?

For CSE, NIT Calicut is the best option among these NITs. It offers better placements and career opportunities. According to the recent highlights of NIT Calicut placements the average CTC offered for CSE students is around INR 17 LPA+. Around 100% of students from the branch get placed each year. Microsoft, Infosys, Amazon, etc. are the major recruiters for the branch.

One of my acquaintances has a better opinion on the same. He says that if you opt to take admission at IIIT Allahabad, then you are more likely to have better opportunities in the IT field.

Mostly, the students of ECE are thoroughly engaged in coding and are known to study ECE because of reasons that center around only graduating.
While, on the flip side, in VNIT Nagpur, the students pursue ECE because they are interested in it.
However, the placements of IT field are more likely to surpass the number of placements seen in ECE fields. This is because the core hardware companies relatively do not share the same amount of trust with the freshers.
If you want to obtain a better salary package after graduating from a B.Tech course, then going for IIIT, Allahabad can be a superior option.
While, if you relevantly want to pursue your career in most of the core ECE companies, then it is suggested that you opt for VNIT, Nagpur.

You are comparing two different branches; Computer (CSE) and Electrical (EEE). If you are naturally inclined towards a particular branch, then you should choose it no matter the institute. If you are not sure about the branch then let me share some facts I got to know while researching about the institutes.

NIRF Engineering Ranking 2020 – VNIT Nagpur is ranked 27 while NIT Surathkal is ranked 13.
Academics – In this regard both are equal. Some professors are good and some are really bad.
Extra-Curricular Activities – NIT Surathkal is way better than VNIT Nagpur. You will always find some activity happening on the campus. VNIT Nagpur does not have any such activities being conducted regularly.
Campus location – VNIT Nagpur is actually better than NIT Surathkal. Although the Surathkal beach which is right beside the college looks good in photos, the same cannot be said in person. The VNIT Nagpur campus on the other hand is clean and green.
Workshops – At VNIT Nagpur most of the workshops organized by the clubs are paid while at NIT Surathkal most of them were free and open to all.

As a student you should check the following areas and take them into consideration while choosing a particular institution.

Research- VNIT, and COEP beats VJTI in these criteria. Students can do research here under college professors on winter vacations.

Placements-

VNIT provides unpaid internships to students through the alumni association.
IT companies offer job opportunities to people from computer science, electronics, electrical with a CGPA of 7. The same scenario is present in VJTI and COEP. They may provide better opportunities than VNIT.
However, there are decent placements for mechanical engineering both in VJTI and VNIT.

VNIT is best in terms of campus life. There are ample hostel facilities for the students.
Students can interact and socialize with people not only from Maharashtra but from all over India.
There are almost eight batches for the department with 60-90 students.

Student Activities- VNIT excels in expectations than COEP & VJTI with myriad festivals, clubs, and extra-curricular.

Research after Bachelors’- Lots of VNIT students get themselves into research work after their graduation. However, there is no available information for VJTI and COEP.

Considering all the aspects listed above, VNIT seems a better choice for mechanical engineering than COEP Pune and VJTI Mumbai.
