Hostels and Mess aren't upto the mark. They have mediocre standards in here. Only veg in mess. The egg is available only in one canteen. The hostel doesn't have any special facilities. Just a room and no attached bathroom

Campus Life:

The main fests are Gokulashtami and Anokha(tech fest). Tech Fest happens in even semester in the second half of the semester. It has workshops, cultural, etc. There are a lot of clubs on campus providing exposure for different fields like IT, Culturals, Mech etc. Very good classrooms (BYOD). A huge library is there.

Amrita University offers good learning opportunities. It also has a decent placement record. According to the highlights of Amrita University Placements 2021, almost 95% of students got placement offers. The highest CTC offered was 56.95 LPA.

But the coursework is demanding. You are required to do projects each semester. So, you need to keep up with the coursework, otherwise, you can easily fall behind.

Yes, Amrita University takes admission through the management quota as well. Fees for management quota seats vary depending on the branch. But selection for these seats is done based on board marks. They will assign you a campus, based on the marks you scored in +2. Number of management quota seats is limited. To get admission through this quota, you will need to meet the respected officials at the college.

Amrita University offers a good B.Tech program. Compared to VIT, it is better.

  • It follows a great syllabus along with a decent grading system.
  • The faculty pool is great. The professors are well-experienced and dedicated.
  • It offers good facilities to the students. The library is huge. Four years of engineering isn’t enough to explore it completely.
  • The campus environment is great. You will get good sports facilities along with a swimming pool.
  • According to the highlights of Amrita University B.Tech placements, the average CTC is INR 5.8 LPA.

Overall, the B.Tech program offers decent facilities along with good placements.

Comparably Anna University is better than Amrita University. It is a state government university and changes a lower course fee. The institute offers great academics. The university has a great alumni network. Anna University notable alumni list incudes name like A. P. J. Abdul Kalam- Former President of India & Bharat Ratna awardee, Venu Srinivasan - Chairman of Sundaram, Sujatha Rangarajan - Writer.

However, being a private university Amrita offers better infrastructure.

Is Amrita Coimbatore better than PSG Tech?

Yes, Amrita University Coimbatore is better than PSG Tech. It is one of the top deemed universities in India. It has MoU with reputed universities across the world for collaborative student exchange. So, you will get global exposure.

Amrita has a diverse student crowd. There are students from all across the country as well as outside of the country. You will get to have a shared campus experience with many talented students. The peer group of Amrita is excellent as it takes admission through AEEE and JEE.

The institute has a great placement record as well. According to the recent placement highlights, students of Amrita University Coimbatore get an average CTC of around INR 5.8 LPA. While the highest CTC offered to students is around INR 56 LPA.

Amrita Engineering College has strict rules regarding uniforms and attendance. Go through the below list to find out the common rules students need to follow, on campus.

  • Students need to maintain at least 75% attendance.
  • Uniform is a must on campus. Students are required to wear ID cards in classes and labs.
  • Hostel curfew time for girls is 9 pm and for boys, it is 10 pm. In time for freshers is different. First-year girls need to enter hostel by 7 pm. The curfew time for first year boys is around 9 pm.
  • You need to apply for GATE pass and Home pass, 24 hours prior. Each student is permitted only 2 passes a month.
  • Non-veg food isn’t allowed inside the campus. If caught, there can be serious consequences.

The institute is also intolerant of ragging.

Being from Andhra Pradesh or any other state it is not possible to get a seat in Coimbatore as you will fall under the open quota but it is possible to get a seat in Amritapuri.

  • Suppose you have completed your 11th and 12th from Tamil Nadu, then you would be eligible to get a seat in Coimbatore. You can apply through state quota but any student who is applying other than Tamil Nadu would fall under the open quota.
  • Applying through state quota has its own advantages as these students are given more preference even if they score a rank of around 9000 as seats are reserved for the students who are applying through state quota. It is even easier for them to choose a branch of their choice.
  • Although students applying through state quota can get a seat easier than open quota students, this still doesn't guarantee a seat to every student applying under state quota.
  • A student has to study a lot and score higher marks in the entrance examination in order to secure a seat, as there are a lot of students applying and the students with higher marks and rankings will only be eligible to secure a seat.

Also, if you follow the cutoff trends for recent years it’s possible that you will get a seat at Amritapuri in CSE with a rank of 2342.

22 Jun 21CSE, Amrita University Coimbatore (2020)

One of my friends was a student from Amrita and she pursued ECE on the Bangalore campus. According to her experience, in general, the Coimbatore campus is better among the two.

The reason behind choosing Amrita University, Coimbatore is because of its well-structured infrastructure and great academic culture. The Coimbatore campus has also remained consistent in being ranked high amongst most Indian colleges.

However, for the CS branch specifically, my friend suggests the Bangalore campus. The academic culture in the institute is significantly good. Moreover, the rules and regulations in the institute are not as strict as on the Coimbatore campus, letting students have a better amount of balance.

Since you are in close vicinity with various IT companies and are surrounded by classmates belonging from households where either parent might be working in similar companies can provide you a commendable orientation as well.

As per the recent trends the average and highest CTC offered at the Bangalore campus is 40 LPA and 80 LPA respectively.

According to my friend, you will also have a better peer group with good communication skills at the Bangalore campus as opposed to the other two. So, choosing the Bangalore campus may give you an edge.

17 Jun 21B-Tech Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science, Amrita University (2020)

I have a friend who attended Amrita University and here’s what he had to say about life at the campus.

Academic Life:

  • The course curriculum is great and the standards can be even compared to IIT.
  • The faculty are knowledgeable and will help you with everything. However, self-study, your efforts, and participation in events and competitions, etc. will teach you so much more.
  • The labs are great and have all the necessary equipment. They also allow you to use the labs after academic hours with due permission.
  • The library is huge and they also have many online subscriptions.
  • The exams come pretty fast. But if you practice daily and prepare with proper strategy, then exams become quite easy.

Campus life:

  • The campus has three academic blocks (AB1, AB2, and AB3) and one business block (MBA).
  • The campus is beautiful and covered with greenery.
  • The campus has three major and four minor canteens. The bigger canteens are in AB1, in between AB2 and AB3, and one in the MBA block. There are also four minor canteens.
  • The institute hosts a three-day tech fest called Anokha, each year in February. The college also hosts other festivals such as Adaviya, a theatre fest, and so on.

Hostel life:

  • The rooms are better than many other colleges in the vicinity. The rooms are shared by four persons till the third year and only in the final year, you will get a single sharing room.
  • The hostels have their own gyms, open ground, canteens, and an Olympic size swimming pool. The food quality is average.

The weekdays go in a blur from waking up in a hurry, rushing to the class with breakfast in hand, attending 4 classes, lunch break to the sleepy classes after lunch. In the evening you can hang out on campus, play some sport or take long walks.

On weekends, students usually go out to the city to catch a movie or some even go home. Life is good at the campus, you will be busy with many activities.

Starting off first, let me congratulate you as you have attempted the Amrita University Entrance exam.

Coming to your rank, let me assure you that 12000 is not a bad rank at all. Many students who have scored a rank of 20000 to 30000 also have qualified for admission at Amrita University.

There are other additional factors that also come into play. Your admission depends upon which state you are from as well. This could be Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu or Kerala.

The college has certain cutoffs that have been set for each state. You can also get in touch with the college for information on this but they might ask you to pay up.

However, if you are considering enrolling here for CSE, most of these seats get filled up at 6000 rankings, even in-state quota sometimes. So for 12000, you can consider going for branches like Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, E&I as well as Aero. These are definitely available under the state quota.
