Course Description

IIT Ropar MTech admissions are based on GATE Score followed by COAP counselling. For IIT Ropar MTech Admission 2024, GATE Registrations have started from August 30. The closing date of regular registration is Ocotber 12, 2023. Along with that, the deadline for extended online registration or application process (with late fee) is 20^th October, 2023.

IIT Ropar offers MTech program in 13 different specialisations for a duration of 2 years. Admission to the MTech program is granted as per the GATE results and COAP counselling. The 2023 cutoff by marks for IIT Ropar MTech CSE remained 824 for the general category. Candidates seeking admission for IIT Ropar MTech program must have a BTech degree or bachelor’s degree in any relevant field of study. Selection will be done based on the previous year’s GATE performance. On qualifying the GATE exam, candidates have to register on the COAP portal to get a seat at IIT Ropar and reserve it by paying the seat acceptance fee on a given date.

IIT Ropar M.Tech Eligibility Criteria

Applicants are recommended to review the IIT Ropar M.Tech Entrance eligibility requirements in advance to understand the conditions and requirements that must be met. It should be mentioned that only applicants who have a valid GATE score or who have graduated from or will graduate from an IIT with a CGPA of 8.0 are eligible to apply.

IIT Ropar M.Tech Selection Criteria

Selection will be based on the GATE performance for the year 2022/2023/2024. Please note that the candidates are required to register on the “Common Offer and Acceptance Portal” (COAP) 2024 before applying online to the Institute. You are required to look at COAP Website for all rounds of offers.

GATE 2024 COAP Registration Process

Candidates must enrol for the COAP counselling process after completing the GATE entrance exam in order to get admission to IITs, NITs, and other participating institutes. COAP provides a centralised portal for registered candidates to select their desired M.Tech. programme at one of the partner institutes.

GATE 2024 COAP Step by Step Registration Process:

The candidates can successfully apply for GATE COAP 2024 by simply following the below:

Step 1: Visit the official website of COAP @ coap.iitd.ac. and click on the registration link.

Step 2: Fill in details such as their GATE Registration Number, GATE Paper Code, GATE score, date of birth.

Step 3: Click on the “Validate” icon and enter the registered email id and mobile number.

Step 4:Click on the “Submit to Register” button.

Step 5: After the registration is successfully done for COAP 2024, the candidates will obtain a Login ID and Password for COAP Login. The same will be sent via Email and SMS.

Step 6: The COAP registration will only be considered as complete only if the candidates log in using the Login ID and Password and verify the registration details.

Step 7: After the completion of the above-given steps, the candidate can access the information on offers made from the participating Institutes.

Step 8: In the end, the admission offer will be uploaded at COAP website and will be tagged with COAP registration number (same as GATE registration number without subject code).

IIT Ropar MTech Program Details – Curriculum, Syllabus

Indian Institute of Technology Ropar offers 11 M.Tech. specializations across 4 semesters.

The evaluation process for a student in an M.Tech. program is done based on SGPA (Semester Grade Point Average) and CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average).
SGPA means the Grade Point Average for a semester whereas CGPA means the grade point average for all the completed semesters.
Minimum CGPA for the award of M.Tech. the degree is 5.0.
All the M.Tech. program marks are divided into core, project work, and elective.

The Head of the Department, Professor Deepak Kashyap is a highly experienced member of the faculty and has taught at IIT Roorkee. The students look up to him a lot. If we talk about the infrastructure, then new and advanced labs have been commissioned. In addition to that, a state-of-the-art Soil-Water-Plant lab has been set up which covers an area of 2.5 acres in the new campus.
