The faculty at IIT Ropar is great. The majority of the professors hold a Ph.D. degree. They are cooperative and provide proper guidance in projects as well as examination preparations.

The lectures are enough for understanding the courses and you would not even need to take help from tuitions. Professors explain the topics in an easier way so that you can easily grasp their subject matter.

However, when it comes to attendance, you are required to maintain a 75% attendance. The professors are not lenient if the students miss the classes. The same goes with the assignments and presentations which need to meet the deadline. Delaying your submissions would only bring you in a tough position.

I have a few friends from IIT Ropar and here are the reasons why they choose IIT Ropar.

  • First and foremost, as an IIT, it is a premier institute in our country.
  • As a second-generation IIT, its infrastructure is very advanced, with cutting-edge equipment and facilities.
  • Only a one-hour drive from Chandigarh (Independent India's first planned city).
  • The college is surrounded by scenic beauty, and its design is influenced by the Indus Valley civilization.
  • Its Director and Faculty are extremely committed. Their efforts have resulted in this institute being ranked as one of the top institutions in our country. It will be an equally good and sought-after college in the coming years.
  • It also has a good placement record. In 2020 the average CTC offered was 15 LPA.
  • Mess food is good.
  • Because there are fewer students than other IITs, you have a better chance of participating in every club activity, sport, and event.
  • You will be able to study and interact with people from all over India who are bright and hardworking.

There are many reasons to choose IIT Ropar but these are some of the main reasons that motivate students to choose IIT Ropar.

My sister graduated from IIT Ropar a few years back. Her experience was thrilled at the campus and she enjoyed it a lot. However, let’s talk about her 1st day at the campus. Like any student, she was excited about this new journey yet sad.

If you are joining the campus, you may also experience mixed emotions as you will live alone without your family and meet new people. As per my sister’s experience, the people on campus were very friendly and she completed the registration process easily.

On the 1st day, the institute will conduct a few activities in the evening wherein the seniors will introduce themselves and share other necessary information. During the night, you will have an interactive session with the seniors which is supposedly a personality development program.

The Civil Engineering dept. at IIT Ropar believes in growing as well as standing out. The Head of the Department, Professor Deepak Kashyap is a highly experienced member of the faculty and has taught at IIT Roorkee. The students look up to him a lot.

If we talk about the infrastructure, then new and advanced labs have been commissioned. In addition to that, a state-of-the-art Soil-Water-Plant lab has been set up which covers an area of 2.5 acres in the new campus. A number of text and reference books journals for research have been procured by the institute to be made available for the students for their convenience.

The faculty is in constant interaction with the authorities of the Government of Punjab for organizing activities that involve collaboration. They have already conducted several studies in consulting and also building a training program for PUDA engineers.

A computer model of groundwater flow and transport that is comprehensive is also being developed. Recently, the Newton-Bhabha has offered INR 1 crore as financial backing to the first research project of the department of civil engineering. It also plans to increase the intake of B.Tech aspirants and introduce the M.Tech course.

Yes, scoring 308 in the JEE Advanced 2021 is enough for computer science in IIT Ropar because if a student is scoring such a high score, then definitely the rank would go below 1000.

After attaining so many scores and ranks, a student will obviously get offers from the older IITs’ other branches.

But still, if a student tends to join the IIT Ropar CSE branch then he/she is setting a trend to opt for the research-oriented Institute. IIT Ropar has the World Rankings and such students are the only cause. The student is making a great choice and

Some experience preferably an internship in the private sector can come in handy if you want to pursue M.Tech in Power engineering at IIT Ropar.

Before you make up your mind, research the challenges of power engineering, its strengths, and drawbacks, the scene of the program in our country, the opportunities that remain unused, etc.

Decide if you would like to address these problems on your own or with the team you will be making. There is still a gaping difference between demand and supply in our country. There are also problems in transmission, losses in transit; thefts that take place by unscrupulous elements.

Other than these, there are also generation gaps, technology or equipment that has become obsolete. You will need to address these problems when you will pursue the course and apply your knowledge in the real world.

To become an assistant professor at IIT Ropar you must first obtain a PhD. This is the minimum eligibility criteria for any IIT to apply for the post of assistant professor.

Then you will have to compete with many other candidates and to stay above the competition you will need to have an outstanding academic career throughout.

You will also need to have various published papers in many international and reputed journals. This will give you an edge over others.

This is a suggestion beyond the scope of this question. But if you can start low in a company and struggle for 2-3 years, I believe that you can land a more lucrative and satisfying job later on. Doing an M.Tech and then a Ph.D. will take a very long time.

Unfortunately, the demand for degree holders of M.Tech in CSE is comparatively declining at a faster pace. The reason behind this unforeseen degeneration can be blamed upon the Indian Engineering Curriculum that is now almost 40 years old.

Here are some latest points regarding the M.Tech (CSE) placements you must note,

Highest Salary Package INR 12 LPA
Average Salary Package INR 4.70 LPA
Top Recruiting Companies Google, Microsoft, Amazon, PayPal, Arista Networks, Directi, Ericsson, Samsung Engineering, Texas Instruments, Flipkart

This is a complete rundown of the placement information found recently. Yet, it is best if you could get in touch with several present students of the institute to understand the institute’s viewpoints better.
