In the past, students who failed to get a decent CGPA had no option except to take MBA after the third year and they were not allowed to take M.Tech. But this is only one side of the coin and most people don't see the other side of the coin. Let me show you these in broader aspects Talking about placements, IIITM G may have a better placement record but we also must not forget that we are comparing graduates with undergraduates. We are comparing a student with a dual degree to a student with a single degree and hence this comparison is not fair. If you get a whooping package then it's fine otherwise it is just a waste of time. Second Case: You want to go for further studies. In this case, it may seem that a dual degree is a blessing but if you think about it, then you may think that you are limiting your chance of doing a master's from any other and better college. For example, if someone graduated from a 4-year program and did his master's from IIT-B then it's a win-win situation for him. Third Case: If you want to go for an MBA, then you are saving yourself from appearing in CAT and GMAT, but this is the same as above.
