All is good about the curriculum and the faculty members. I chose history because I had an interest in it. The faculty-student ratio is about 1:5. Each faculty has a lot of experience and we too have junior lecturers for tutorials.

I have got a seat in the Political Science department. Right from my intermediate I had a keen interest in political science so I just applied for every university that offer political science. Luckily I got the best university in the case of political science. It is one of the strongest departments in this university. The faculty was too good in political science. We have 3 internals and an end-semester exam. However, these exams are not that easy to pass we have to give our highest input.

NIT Calicut is far better than Hyderabad Central University. At the university, you will find most of the students from nearby states whereas NIT has a multicultural atmosphere with students coming from every corner of the country.

The climate is also very soothing in Calicut that will help you to grow and study. NIT Calicut has well-qualified faculty members providing quality education. Not only education but it will also help in your overall development and to lead a better life ahead.

The placements of NIT Calicut are also very decent. According to the recent placement statistics of following data can be tabulated:

The University of Hyderabad is a lot more than academics. I have a few friends from the University of Hyderabad and here is their insight on the institute.

  • There are various places you can explore on the campus including the Water Tank, Mushroom Rock, and Check Dam.
  • Apart from this, you can do campfires on campus, where you can gather with your friends even at late nights and can cook food and enjoy.
  • The University of Hyderabad is not just an institute that provides academics and education. It helps a student gain experience and understands the true meaning of life which is more important than being a reading parrot.
  • The campus is a beautiful and large lush green campus which is so huge that it is further divided into two campuses where students can jog, play any kind of sports be it outdoor or indoor, ranging from Tennis to Football or gym, etc. Therefore, the campus encourages sports at every level.
  • The faculty base of the institute is quite good. They are experienced and cooperative.
  • The Indira Gandhi Memorial Library is a great place to study. There are lots of study materials and books.
  • The hostels are clean and well-maintained. There are mess facilities available at each hostel. They provide breakfast, lunch, and dinner. But the quality of food offered is not that great.
  • The University gives freedom to a student to stay up late at night, to go out of the campus at any hour. You can visit Tankbund or the places you wish to and can be back early morning. There’s no one to supervise.

Therefore, you can opt for the University of Hyderabad without thinking twice.

University of Hyderabad doesn’t reveal cutoff marks. You need to score more than 605 in your 10+2 to appear for the entrance examination. UoH shortlists students for the interview round based on their entrance examination results. However, the details regarding the cutoff aren’t revealed. You will have a better chance of securing a spot for admission if you have a higher rank.

One of my friends recently cleared the entrance exam, so I might be able to give you some information about it.

Go through the previous question papers which are available on the university’s official website. The test consists of MCQs and passages. You can refer to the following:

  • For Political theory - An Introduction to political theory by O.P Gauba, read it based on the previous question papers.
  • For Indian and Western political thought - IGNOU material and Shubhra Ranjan material on political thought, available online will be helpful.
  • For Indian Polity - Refer Laxmikanth.
  • For World History and World politics - Refer to the Contemporary World politics NCERT class 12.
  • For Current affairs and international relations - Read The Hindu newspaper and watch the Rajya Sabha channel.

The passage part is not tough if you practice from the previous year’s papers. Prepare well and then you will realize that scoring is really easy.

One of my friends studied at the University of Hyderabad. According to him, the economics department is really good. Here are some points regarding this:

  • The faculty of University of Hyderabad is well experienced and very cooperative.
  • They have an active placement cell. The placements here are better than what the other universities offer.
  • Being one of the top universities in India it is well recognized by students and professionals.
Categories Masters in Economics in University of Hyderabad

If you are a north Indian, you will need some time to get used to the food. Otherwise, life at University of Hyderabad is good. You will find like-minded people on campus.

Although most people use Talegu to communicate on campus, language will not be a problem. Almost everyone can communicate in Hindi and English too. As it is a metro city, Hindi is pretty common too.

The university offers good exposure to international education. The teaching methodology and research facilities at the campus are also great.

One thing that can bother you at times is the student union politics. Besides that, you can expect a decent campus life.

Yes, studying at the University of Hyderabad is worth it. I have a few friends from the institute and here is their experience in brief.

  • The institute has recently signed more than 10 MOUs from all over the world.
  • It provides freedom to the students. You can do anything you wish to pursue including politics, studies, sports, or the other activities one is interested in.
  • The University consists of Twelve Schools of Study namely Humanities, Engineering Sciences & Technology, Management Studies, Mathematics and Statistics, Life Sciences, Physics, Sarojini Naidu School of Arts & Communication, Medical Sciences, Chemistry, Social Sciences, and Economics Computer/Information Sciences. These include both single-disciplined schools and attached departments and centers. The University promotes Inter-school and inter-disciplinary teaching and research on the campus.

So, overall choosing University of Hyderabad will be definitely worth it.

Getting admission at Hyderabad Central University depends on the branch or discipline you are interested in. For the course of M.A. (Masters of Arts), there is an entrance exam conducted by Hyderabad Central University. After clearing the entrance exam, an interview process is followed. Although, there can be another exam before the interview, which if passed, the authorities will verify the original certificates, and then the interview is conducted. This is the process that is conducted to get a seat in the admission process.

Every day is a new day in the Hyderabad University hostel, but don't expect super-luxurious accommodation facilities.

  • The rooms are shared among 2 students, which is fine because you get to meet a lot of new people.
  • Find a group and hang out with them. It is not always a happy place because you will be learning life lessons, but it is certainly exciting.
  • Apart from this, you will get the best internet services in your hostel rooms. It is available 24/7 and the speed is fantastic.
  • In terms of food at the hostel, most of it is South Indian and the menu is the same every day. You might get bored with it.
  • You will have a lot of fun, ups, and downs, and learn a lot. A day at HCU begins at 6:00 a.m. and ends at 3:00 a.m.

The hostel life at Hyderabad is quite similar to any government institute. You can enjoy more freedom and infrastructure when compared to private institutions.
