₹ 1,630Both Miranda House and LSR are reputed colleges of DU, and have made significant contributions to women’s education in the country. You should choose one of these two colleges, based on the course of your choice. Miranda House is known for its science courses and LSR is the best college for arts.
MH and LSR offer unique campus life. If you want to experience the much-talked-about DU campus life, choose MH. You can gate-crash into fests and events of other colleges of DU. LSR is more posh, infrastructure-wise, and offers an enviable campus experience.
Among these three, you need to choose between Lady Shree Ram and Miranda as both of them are good colleges. LSR is better than all because of the various factors including the environment, peer groups, events, and many other things.
If you are not a native resident of NCR and there’s a choice between no hostel LSR or the Miranda House with the hostel, then you can opt for the latter as you will get to enjoy and experience the hostel life. If you are unable to get a hostel anywhere then opt for LSR anyway.
Between Lady Shri Ram College and Daulat Ram College, the former is the better option for pursuing English honors. Some of my friends attended Lady Shri Ram College and according to them, the faculty base for English Department is great. The cutoff for LSR College is also more compared to Daulat Ram. You will definitely have an excellent time studying there.
B.A Hons. in Journalism from Lady Shri Ram College is definitely a better option than DCAC. It is way better in terms of campus, ranking, reputation, student crowd, etc. The cutoff required for the institute is also higher. So, you will be among competitive peers. If you don’t get LSR, try to get into other south-campus colleges. DCAC is not included in any of the DU campuses, which is a huge disadvantage.
Both Miranda House and the Lady Shri Ram (LSR) College of Commerce are two of the most prominent women’s colleges under the University of Delhi. They both have huge respect from the teaching fraternity.
Miranda House is in North Delhi while LSR is in South Delhi and is actually very far from most other colleges. Both the colleges will change your perspective and will give you a totally new outlook of the world ahead. You will make some great friends and your girl-girl bond will definitely grow stronger.
However, I feel that LSR is a little bit too sophisticated and modern and the girls also feel a little too posh. At Miranda House, you will get students from all corners and strata of society. Overall you will not regret for the next three years the decision you took today.
LSR and JMC both are reputed colleges. If we compare then LSR is definitely a better college than JMC. LSR is the best girls college in DU, followed by JMC.
However, it’s best to choose the course of your interest over college. As the course will have more effect on your future. So, research about the course that you are interested in, in both LSR and JMC.
In general, as a subject, Economics Hons has better scope than Statistics Hons. However, if you are interested in numbers, Statistics is a better fit for you.
For BA Economics honours LSR will be a better option as compared to Ashoka University. Given below are the reasons why.
Lady Shri Ram (LSR) is one of the most reputed colleges in Delhi and it also has an enviable alumni base. The focus of Delhi University’s system is a lot more on the undergraduate programs. The professors sincerely dedicate a minimum of 35 hours for teaching.
Ashoka University is also a good university but it is quite expensive to pursue a course from as compared to LSR/DU. The course fee BA Economics (Hons.) degree is 16,390 for first year in LSR. At Ashoka University the course fee is 8.85 lakhs for the first year for BA Economics (Hons.) degree.
LSR will provide you with a strong and ambitious peer group as the students of LSR Economics students aim for Yale and Harvard universities after their graduation.
The placement rate and record of LSR is better than Ashoka University. The students at LSR get placed with placement packages ranging between 5-15 LPA. MNCs like EY, Mckinsey, BCG, etc. visit the campus to recruit students. On the other hand, the students at Ashoka University receive an average placement package of 6-7 lakhs. Companies like Deloitte, Clix Capital, Business Standard, Genpact, India Infoline Finance Limited, McKinsey & Co, etc. visit the campus for placement drives.
While Lady Shri Ram is an old, renowned college, Ashoka is relatively young and lacks a strong alumni network and instant recognition. According to NIRF rankings, Lady Shri Ram ranks among the top 5 while Ashoka University is placed on the 20th. Ashoka being a private university might not be affordable to everyone as its fee structure is too high but the facilities and exposure provided compensate for it.
Lady Shri Ram offers in-depth knowledge via a scholarly and reputed contingency of faculty which help in shaping future leaders. Some of the finest brains of the industry are prodigies of this college, recruited by top organizations like McKinsey, BCG, Standard Chartered, SW and many others offering an average package of 7.3 LPA, while Bank of America offered the highest package of 37.8 LPA. In the 2018-19 academic session, nearly 300 internship offers were rolled out with over 150 industry giants like Nestle, Dell, Bloomberg, AIG to name a few. Over 150 paid internships were offered to the students, the highest internship offer stood at INR 1,50,000 for 2 months. The average stipend for paid internships was nearly INR 9,750 per month.
Ashoka University boasts of a profoundly knowledgeable and exuberant faculty profile which is few and far between the UG colleges in the country. The tie-ups with reputed institutions like Ohio State University, Yale, Kings College London, UCB and many others cement the future foundations for individuals. With its unique curriculum Ashoka not only imparts deep knowledge but instills excellent leadership skills, a global perspective, and fervor to bring reform. Top recruiters are McKinsey, Genpact, Max Healthcare, Bloomberg Quint, Business Standard.
