Topic: The youth in many countries are unemployed and unskilled, while at the same time, the military services are in need of people. Compulsory military service is beneficial and necessary. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Band 6 IELTS Essay

Everyone is aware that while some nations need their citizens to serve in the military, others do not. People in countries where military service is required view this scenario as a negative for such nations. Undoubtedly, some unemployed and unskilled people are deemed suitable for the military. But it's possible that those individuals do not aspire to serve in the military.

Additionally, required military service hinders brilliant individuals from pursuing higher education and careers in their fields of expertise. Because it causes disruption to their professional lives. Due to these factors, serving in the military ought to be a voluntary endeavour rather than an obligation. To begin with, even though some people lack skills and are unemployed, the government shouldn't encourage them to join the military. Because it is accountable for their unemployment. Additionally, the government should think of new ways to improve people's opportunities for employment and education. Government can assist people in their decision if they choose to enlist in the military despite the options and possibilities offered by the government. Government regulations regarding people with good educations and careers, as well as mandatory military service, should be made. And this should be done in addition to the status of the unemployed and unskilled people. These individuals have already made decisions regarding their employment and way of life. Thus their studies and projects may be hampered by mandatory military duty. As a result, nations cannot profit from the value added by these people. Last but not least, military service is honourable and reflects a person's devotion and reliance on their country. As a result, the government cannot compel military duty. It should start out as voluntary work before developing into a career. Hopefully, the government will become aware of this situation and put the necessary regulations in place.

Band 6.5 IELTS Essay

Some people contend that being required to serve in the military is both necessary and advantageous. The pros will be outlined in this essay, along with my arguments for why I believe that requiring armies to defend their countries is better for all involved. First of all, many nations today are experiencing a shortage of skilled labour due to the majority of young people being unemployed and unskilled.

By enforcing this law, military service is made mandatory, aiding in the creation of jobs across the globe. If they employ people from the provinces and provide them with defence system training, it would be better for the nation. It may result in an increase in employment and the number of skilled workers across the globe. For instance, Israel has a law requiring one member of each household to enlist in the military and serve the country's defence forces. Israel is the most powerful nation in terms of its defence system as a result, and despite being a small nation with a small population. Moreover, if army service became a requirement for citizens to pursue it, the manpower shortage in defence systems would be resolved. Nations would therefore have a massive army to defend them. Finally, through uniting a large number of citizens, the nation would grow stronger and more powerful. People can also quickly get employment and acquire necessary skills that will benefit them in the future. In other words, even after finishing a career in the military, people can find employment, take care of their family's needs, and advance in life. Nations would therefore have a massive army to defend them. In conclusion, I completely concur with the viewpoint that imposing mandatory military duty is important and necessary for the nation. It helps to create jobs and resolve the issue of a manpower shortage in the defence system. Once they have completed their time in order to advance, people will find employment readily and pursue careers in other industries.

Band 7 IELTS Essay

The military frequently lacks personnel in numerous nations, whereas many young people lack training and employment opportunities. Some contend that it is imperative to force young people to enlist in the military. This concept, in my opinion, has a lot of merit. Although military service is exceedingly difficult, young people who successfully complete it become older and more skilled as a result.

Some young individuals lack ambition and responsibility since they are accustomed to receiving support from society and their parents. They are unemployed and unskilled because of this. Young individuals who must serve in the military have the opportunity to spend a lot of time honing their talents in combat, survival, study, and other areas. In addition, if they wish to avoid punishment, they must always follow the commander's instructions and rules. Thus, young people pick up a variety of essential abilities, like self-control, self-discipline, and teamwork, all of which are highly valued by employers. For instance, some businesses give preference to workers who have served in the military or who have participated in the army. On the other hand, young individuals may think about enlisting in the military as a career, and conscription serves as an internship programme. The army needs a large number of people in order to maintain its readiness at all times for any circumstance. The army is involved in many facets of society today, including national security, business, and education. Along with defending their countries, soldiers also help to build them. A notable example is the Vietnamese Viettel group. It has made successful investments in a variety of industries. And the human resource gained by conscription into the military is a crucial and essential supplier. There are advantages for businesses as well as for workers. To sum up, the government should establish laws requiring young people to serve in the military for a set amount of time in order to fulfil their own needs.
