How to Send IELTS Scores to Universities?
IELTS Score reporting takes 3 to 5 days for the computer-delivered test and 13 days for IELTS paper-based test to receive the results. You should receive your IELTS TRF within 23 days of writing the test. In case you request, the British Council will send you up to five original copies to the institutions of your choice. If needed, request it by completing the additional test report form.

You can request for the additional test score report at the time of registration or you can request for it during the time period that your IELTS score is valid. You need to pay an extra fee in case you want the TRF sent via airmail or courier.
What is TRF in IELTS?
The full form of TRF in IELTS is Test Report Form. IELTS Test Report Form is the paper-based score report received within 13 days of taking the IELTS test. You can get only one copy of TRF for yourself, but you can request up to five additional TRFs meant to go to universities, scholarship bodies, etc.
You will receive your IELTS TRF report by courier. You can submit your scores to universities electronically. You can send your TRF report through the IDP office or the British Council free of charge. If you request more than five TRFs but for that you will have to pay an extra IELTS fees.
Additional IELTS TRFs
It may happen that after taking the test, the candidates feel like applying for more than five universities or colleges that they have already selected. If the duration exceeds a month, they need to pay an additional fee to the conducting body - additional TRF British Council or IDP to deliver their IELTS test report form to those institutions. They need to fill ‘Application for the Issue of Additional TRFs’ and pay additional fees along with the courier charges required. The candidates can also authorize somebody else to collect the IELTS test report form. The candidates need to fill ‘TRF-Payment Authorization Form’ and return it back with the ‘Application for the Issue of Additional TRFs’.
The charges of IELTS score sending fee for delivering the IELTS TRF form is mentioned below:
- International Courier: An amount of Rs. 1250 per address will be charged. The duration is 4 days to reach the university and the candidate will also be provided with the tracking number.
- Airmail: An amount of Rs. 250 per address will be charged to deliver the report through airmail. It should be noted that there is no tracking number provided in these cases.
- Electronic: an amount of Rs. 250 will be charged per university. If the university is directly linked with the electronic system then they will automatically receive the scores.
IDP takes 7-10 working days to process your ATRF request.
Sending IELTS TRF to Universities: How to register for IELTS
You can register for IELTS and IELTS test results sent to university by following the steps given below:
- Visit the British Council website
- Click ‘Take an exam’ and ‘IELTS’
- On the right-hand side click ‘IELTS registration’
- Click ‘Register for IELTS now’
- On the left-hand side you can find the test dates by filling in the details
- The next page will display the test date availability. You can choose the available date and click ‘Apply’ next to it.
- Read the declaration carefully and tick mark against the box and click ‘Continue’.
- The next page asks you to fill in your personal details
- At the end of the page, there is an option if you want to send IELTS scores to other institutions. Click ‘Yes’ to send the result.
- Click ‘Continue’ once you fill in the correct details.
- On the next page, you can specify the five universities where you want to send IELTS results.
By following the steps above you can get IELTS test results sent to university. But make sure you fill in the correct details.
How to send your IELTS score to universities online?
