The two floor plans show how AAA Accountancy's central office was renovated in the past and present.

The structure of the office has been modernized in general by consolidating technological equipment and desks. Some rooms has been eliminated which increased the size of others.

When we look at the before map, the narrow front desk with a table was at the end of the narrow entryway. To the east was a storage room, payroll office, and manager's office, respectively. The meeting room was situated in between the launch room and the manager's room. The new customers' office, the processing office, and the accounting office face south toward the front desk and manager's room. The meeting room, the managers' room, the storage room and lunch room did not have a desk, fax machine, or copier like the other rooms did.

In the New map, we can see that the entrance gate has been expanded. The room that houses the front desk now has more desks and a sofa. The manager's office, the launch room, and the meeting room are all in the same size at the eastern corner of the floor. The storage room is moved to the north-west corner, and desks, a fax machine, a copier, and a sofa next to the manager's room fill the middle of the office.

Band 8 IELTS Answer

There are two images provided. One image shows the office that was before renovation and the next one is after renovation. The overall layout of the building has been changed. From a closed plan with separate rooms for groups of specialized workers to an open plan, creating a spacious central arena.

The original "three-desk" offices, which dealt with accounts, processing, customers, and payroll and were accessible via an arterial corridor. These have been subsumed (and possibly intermixed) into three rectangular clusters of "four-seater" workstations after renovation. All of these are wired to an industrial-sized machine that now serves all of them. Because of this, less space is needed, which has made it possible to add a sofa set next to the southern wall.

Moving to the periphery, the eastside has a lunchroom, meeting room, and manager's office in a north-south orientation, just like it does now. The westside, on the other hand, now has a storage room that is half the size of the original. Most importantly, an expanded foyer with a customer-friendly hemispherical reception island and adjacent sofa sets has been installed. The interior is hidden from view behind elegantly curved walls and sliding doors.

In terms of aesthetics, functionality, and cost-effectiveness, this new arrangement is a massive improvement, according to instinct.

Band 6 IELTS Answer

It is clear at first glance that the accounts, processing, new customer, and payroll offices each had their own separate rooms with their own fax and copier. All of the desks and machines have been relocated to a group of four desks in the center of the office following the renovation. On the other hand, the lunchroom and manager's office were reduced in size and the storage room was moved to the south-west corner of the office.

Moving on, the front desk in front of the entrance got bigger, and two sofa sets were added to each corner. In addition, a second sofa set is situated in the middle of the office on the west wall. In this renovation, only the meeting room is unchanged.

In general, the main office of AAA accounting is being redeveloped to eliminate rooms and provide more open space.
