Topic: The increase in food production is mostly due to fertilisers and better machinery. Yet, some think that it harms human health and communities. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Band 8 IELTS Essay

Some might argue that unpaid community service should be required as part of the high school curriculum. To some extent, I agree that society and students appear to profit from it. However, I believe that unpaid labour should be strictly optional.

On the one hand, many immature youngsters do not know how to complete the chores effectively. Because of their lack of real-world expertise, the elderly will have to spend time instructing them in their profession. This will eventually generate more issues than the enormous burden. Furthermore, most children are already experiencing academic strain, so adding the duty of working in their leisure time is an extra burden. Take Vietnamese students as an example. Their hectic timetable, which includes eleven topics, causes them to feel overwhelmed since they must finish all homework assignments. Forcing younger people to accomplish anything is thus theoretical and may result in anger among them.

Teenagers, on the other hand, can acquire several moral lessons and be inspired to commit themselves to society by serving others. Furthermore, participation in extracurricular activities allows kids to gain new life skills that are not taught in class. Such as time management, self-awareness, and interpersonal skills. To clarify, the abilities learned via philanthropic work might be an advantage on their CV, increasing their future employment.

To summarize, unpaid community service implementation may benefit people and society as a whole. I believe it should be a required element of the school curriculum.

Band 8.5 IELTS Essay

There has been a lot of debate about whether the use of fertilizers and agricultural machinery increases food production. Others argue that they have a harmful influence on both humanity and the environment. I wholeheartedly agree with the statement. In the following paragraphs, I will present my reasons in favor of my point of view.

It is indisputable that employing chemicals causes products to grow quicker. Modern equipment allows crops to be planted and harvested in a timely way, resulting in less meat waste. However, herbicides and larger and better machinery have severely harmed the ecosystem. Furthermore, individuals' health is at grave risk. First and foremost, such manures emit poisonous compounds such as heavy metals and elements that are harmful to human health. Furthermore, they can enter the river streams that surround the area where harvests are cultivated. As a result, water becomes tainted. If civilization eats this tainted water, it will become a victim of a variety of ailments.

Furthermore, the land where the product is grown is being harmed as a result of the usage of such fertilisers and pesticides. More farms will be abandoned in the long term since more food is cultivated at the expense of soil fertility.

To summarise, the use of manures and modern machinery generates a good number of crops quickly. One cannot disregard the detrimental consequences of such chemicals on people. As a result, the government should closely monitor quality and encourage farmers to use more environmentally friendly fertilisers. This would assure a high yield of food production.

Band 9 IELTS Essay

Societies can now produce more food than ever before, owing to advances in science and technology. It has led to the development of fertilisers and agricultural gear. Many people believe it is harmful to human health and communities. For several reasons, I agree with this concept.

To begin with, the productivity of farming areas has improved significantly over the previous 50 years thanks to high-tech machine farming and chemical manure. As a result, fewer people are facing famine across the world. It indicates that there will be no cultures where people suffer from a shortage of food and hunger in the long run. Furthermore, modern agricultural procedures have resulted in a considerable reduction in the number of required farmers in the farming industry. Many individuals labour in other professions, such as science, education, or research, to assist civilizations thrive. Furthermore, farmers do not labour as hard as their forefathers. They are businesspeople who operate industrial farms that not only fulfil their country's requirements, but also export their products. It would be economically beneficial to societies.

On the contrary hand, the cancer rate has climbed dramatically during the previous five decades. Many experts feel that it is inexorably tied to the widespread use of chemical fertilisers, pesticides, and herbicides. Such substances are absorbed by agricultural goods such as fruits and vegetables and then transmitted to human bodies through consumption. As a result, they will expose individuals to major health issues, and some of them that suffer from incurable ailments may die as a result. Health issues based in contemporary farming place strain on healthcare systems across the world and impose significant costs on governments. Aside from that, in order to limit the quantity of food wasted and make it stay longer on shop shelves. Various preservatives are added to foods during the manufacturing process, which might endanger our health.

In conclusion, while the impact of modern farming on world hunger cannot be dismissed, its detrimental impact on public health must also be recognised. So, for the benefit of public health, I hope the farming industry reconsiders agricultural practices, reduces the use of chemicals, and returns to organic farming.
