Band 6.5 Essay
The introduction of television has significantly altered how kids spend their free time. But these children have experienced both good and bad things as a result of this change in activity.
Television has been better for a child's education and entertainment than previous leisure activities. Children frequently listened to educational radio shows before television was invented. However, whereas radio only has audio, television has both sound and visual outputs. Today's kids can watch television shows like a kindergarten teacher teaching the alphabet in addition to listening to them. Learning the alphabet is made simpler and is also simpler to remember thanks to the additional dimension of the image. In the old days, young kids played primarily with toys. However, many kids found it dull and boring to play with these toys. Today's young kids find television to be much more entertaining. After school, they frequently watch cartoons. They can unwind and loosen up as a result.
On the other hand, television has been disastrous to a child's physical and social development. Children used to spend more time playing outside before television, which is a sedentary indoor activity. Children today spend less time outdoors and spend too much time indoors watching television. Due to this inactivity, the number of overweight and unfit children worldwide is rising. Moreover, children used to converse with their friends more often and hangout outside. Now, Instead, watching television is a passive activity that lacks direct interaction. To make matters worse, modern kids frequently watch television alone. As a result of their poor social skills, many children have fewer friends.
In conclusion, on watching television, kids have both advantages and disadvantages. As a result, when kids watch television, the shows they should watch are either entertaining or educational. But they have to strike a balance between spending time with their friends and going outside.
Band 7 Essay
Whether a child or an elderly person, watching TV has become a popular past time in today's society. After a long day of studying, kids start watching TV. This essay discussed some defences and defenses of the usefulness of TV programming for kids.
There are many TV shows that are specifically designed to meet the educational needs of children, including training programmes, health advice, sporting broadcasts, and others. These are helpful for kids because they can pick up a lot of knowledge while having fun. Additionally, some social and emotional skills can be developed, such as showing respect for the elderly and helping others. The majority of these broadcasts also help kids become more creative because they teach them how to start an invention or how to make a handcraft for a class project. Additionally, some parents are relieved to see that their kids are watching TV and will not interrupt their daily activities as a result.
The child's health would suffer, however, if watching TV became a habit. Both adults and children will become depressed from engaging in too many indoor activities. These indoor pastimes are also a source of future chronic diseases in children, such as high blood pressure, obesity, heart disease, and others. Children's social behaviors are also influenced by violent media. It has frequently been claimed that watching spooky television is the primary cause of a wide range of crimes committed by children.
The aforementioned arguments lead to the conclusion that viewing TV programmes and broadcasting should be restricted by parents using appropriate techniques, such as trying to lock a type of program and designating a set time for it. There should not be too much freedom given by parents in this area. However, watching TV should not be entirely discouraged because it does have some advantages. In general, parents should balance children's indoor and outdoor activities, such as watching TV and playing sports.
Band 8 Essay
In the last two decades, there has been an increase in the amount of TV that young people watch. The recent advances in technology in the gaming and film industries are one of the primary causes of this problem. This essay will go into more detail about the advantages and disadvantages of this tendency.
In comparison to the past, the most recent advancements in video game consoles have drawn both kids and adults to watch TV more frequently. Children are more likely to spend hours playing video games in front of the TV when the characters are interactive and the graphics are of high quality. For instance, a recent survey revealed that TV addiction has significantly increased among young people. This was allegedly brought on by the release of sophisticated gaming consoles. This increase is also partially attributable to the prevalence of pirated video games, television shows, and movies. For young people, this trend has had more negative than positive effects. An increase in TV viewing time has a negative impact on a child's mental and physical health. For instance, the rate of obesity among young people has increased significantly over the past ten years, which has led to additional health issues like anxiety and depression. However, there are constructive uses for TV as well. It is a fantastic resource for knowledge that can assist young people in learning more and achieving success in their future careers.
In conclusion, recent technological advances are increasing the amount of time our kids spend in front of the TV. If parents do not control how much time is spent watching TV, it could have a negative impact as well. However, parents can make TV time beneficial for their kids.
