Topic: Smoking is a major cause of serious illness and death throughout the world today. In the interest of public health, governments should ban cigarettes and other tobacco products. Do you agree or disagree?

Band 7.5 IELTS Essay

The negative impacts of cigarettes and other tobacco products on wellness have drawn a lot of attention since the turn of the century. To safeguard the public's health, there is a generally held belief that governments should outlaw cigarettes as well as other tobacco products. My own opinion is that tobacco and cigarettes should be made illegal, despite the fact that there are still some strong arguments to the contrary.

First and foremost, it is undeniably true that smoking has a harmful impact not just on the smoker but also on others around them. Cigarettes as well as other tobacco products are strong in nicotine and dangerous chemicals that can cause a variety of diseases. And even death on an individual basis. In addition, although I do believe that smoking can elevate mood and excitement, smoking has considerable long-term costs and detrimental impacts on health. In other words, smoking has short-term benefits but mainly detrimental long-term effects. Therefore, it would be completely appropriate for legislation to outlaw smoking.

Additionally, and maybe more significantly, people spend a lot of money annually on tobacco. And other tobacco products, which is seriously detrimental to the local economy. According to estimates, a packet of cigarettes costs around $2, and each adult smokes about 2 packs each day. Furthermore, treating illnesses brought on by smoking is unaffordable. Every year, it costs the government's budget millions of dollars. Smokers either incur time and financial costs to recover from their illnesses or production is halted due to a shortage of healthy workers.

In order to serve the interests of society as a whole, I will conclude by restating my belief that the government should be in charge of regulating the sale. And consumption of cigarettes and other tobacco products. I think that legislation outlaws the use of cigarettes and other tobacco products. As well as public education about the risks associated with smoking should be required in the future.

Band 8.5 IELTS Essay

The consumption of tobacco has dramatically expanded over the past ten years. And as a result, there are now more than six billion cases of mortality worldwide each year. As a result of the constituents of smoke that also are known to be detrimental to general health. While there are advantages, like tax income that a country can employ. I think that a complete ban could perhaps lessen the cause of illnesses associated with smoking. The advantages of establishing a tobacco-free nation that might benefit society will therefore be covered in this essay.

Smoke is mostly made up of tar, nicotine, and other substances that are not only physically addictive but also cancer-causing to the body. Additionally, smoking has increased the risk of respiratory and cardiovascular conditions. In the UK, a study indicated that 52% of males with lung cancer smoked. Government officials could lower healthcare costs if they outlawed smoking.

Second, smoking has detrimental effects that are not limited to the smoker; passive smoke inhalation is also a factor. Additionally, poor cigarette bud disposal has polluted the environment, which could have long-term implications on the general public's health. Therefore, a complete prohibition on smoking might be advantageous for coming generations. Bhutan, for example, was the first nation to outlaw the production, harvesting, and distribution of cigarettes, which has helped to minimize pollution.

On the other hand, others would counter that this action could reduce a nation's tax revenues, which could otherwise be utilized for costs like wellbeing.

Since cigarettes are a major source of income, the economy may alter. But I firmly believe that the cost of health care might be decreased if the causes of illnesses are eliminated.

In conclusion, leaders might consider strategies to serve society by acting morally in light of the serious health difficulties caused by smoking. Children and adults alike are harmed by smoking, so if it is outlawed, future generations may also gain.

Band 9 IELTS Essay

Smoking and the usage of tobacco products are strongly discouraged today due to the numerous health issues and fatalities that cause. Despite the real-world obstacles governments are likely to confront, I tend to agree with the idea.

The fundamental reason, in my opinion, that such goods should be banned is because current methods of reducing the crises brought on by cigarette smoking. As well as the usage of tobacco products are unsuccessful. To be more accurate, many people have decreased productivity. And are observed shelling out enormous sums of money for the treatment of conditions. Like cancer and obstructive lung disorders. Recognizing this, numerous governmental and nonprofit organizations launched significant campaigns. And programs to raise public awareness of the dangers of smoking and tobacco use.

However, none of these have had much of an effect on the populace. According to statistics, the number of people who smoke. And subsequently developing health problems or terminal illnesses is still growing. A responsible government is now required to address the crisis as soon as possible. And the best option readily available to them is to impose a ban on such products.

The implementation of a ban on such commodities does not, however, seem to be too simple for any administration. The first obstacle they must overcome is the potential loss of significant sales revenue from such products. The second crisis is the massive loss of jobs experienced by those who work in connected industries. Last but just not least, the absence of cigarettes would have a negative impact on one's health. I would contend that the interests of society are more significant than the rights of individuals. Notwithstanding claims to the contrary made by cigarette firms and pro-smoking organizations. Governments and society typically foot the tab for the expensive medical care that smokers require when they become ill.

In conclusion, I consider that the fight against this societal evil would only be successful with a comprehensive ban on tobacco products. Even though there are several obstacles that governments must overcome to make the ban practicable.
