Sections and Functions of The Gilmore Library Reading Answers

The Gilmore Library consists of more than 9,000 academic documents, which are inclusive of 5,200 textbooks, reference books, 762 dissertations, 38 maps, 2600 research papers and 400 periodicals and journals, which include daily newspapers, monthly/bimonthly/quarterly and yearly periodicals and reports.

Fiction:

A range of classical and modern literature available in a few Asian languages, but a majority in English. Please note that this is a university library and leisure reading material is also majorly

relevant to academic subjects.

Subject-based books:

22 books on a variety of global languages, popular and in use as well as those that are outdated or have restricted users A range of books on Archaeology, Anthropology, History, Geography, Demography,

Psychology and Philosophy, Economics and Political Science, all of which fall under the social sciences category Older and latest publications in science and technology, general as well as specialised streams such as Nanoscience, Environmental science, Bioinformatics, Aeronautics and Neuroscience and Psychiatry

Textbooks on Commerce and Business Management studies

Textbooks can be issued for a fixed period- Two weeks for students (regular as well as part-time) and one week for academic and non-academic staff members only. All students and academic staff are eligible for membership. However, non-academic staff must obtain membership with a nominal charge. ($25 yearly membership)

No more than two books will be issued at a time.

Overdue fine is $1 per day.

Reference Section:

Daily newspapers, academic journals, and reports are strictly for library reading. Selected reference material can be obtained from the reserve desk. These are issued for project work or presentations on a priority basis, which will be decided by the librarian, who will also help in the selection of appropriate material.

Non-Book Section: Along with hard copies of the academic material, there are also additional CD-ROMs, DVDs, audio and video cassettes and gramophone records for some subjects, which are available upon request at the library. Digitised versions of gramophone records are underway. All material in the non-book section is available for library use only. Pen drives are not permitted. The material required can be availed as hard copy from the library at the reprographic section.

Reprographic Section: Facilities of scanning and Photostat are available in the library at a nominal charge per document. Readers are requested to place material on the respective shelves after use. Every member must have the library card at all times in the library. No books will be issued or accepted without the library card.

Registration takes place in the first month of every academic year. The library card requirements include a passport size photograph, University registration number, Identity proof which must be national or international. Academic as well as non-academic staff members must submit their employment details, such as the letter of intent and employment code. The card must be renewed at the end of each academic year.
