Research Has Shown That Overeating is As Harmful as Smoking IELTS Writing Task 2 consists of three sample answers provided below. The task requires the candidates to provide a tentative and argumentative answer for the question. The sample answers comprises two parts: Introduction and body. The introduction is a brief description about the topic. The body contains argumentative statements and tentative answers to support the test-taker's perspective.

IELTS writing task 2 evaluates candidates based on the knowledge and views they have expressed. The areas that candidates are assessed on are grammar, vocabulary, and style. IELTS writing score is marked based on band scores. The band scores range from 0 to 9. Topic: Research has shown that overeating is as harmful as smoking. Therefore, the advertising of certain food products should be banned in the same way as the advertising of cigarettes in some countries. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Band 7 IELTS Essay

Many people contend that food marketing should be prohibited since overeating may pose similar risks to smoking to people. Personally, I disagree with the claim because smoking already has a negative impact on people's health, yet eating well could still be beneficial.

On the one extreme, over eating may have a deleterious impact on human health. The truth is that when consuming too much fat, many people are susceptible to obesity. For instance, individuals who consume fast food regularly are more likely to acquire weight. And have weakened immune systems due to the excessive amounts of fat they consumed.

Moreover, when a person is consuming an unbalanced diet, overeating could be harmful to their health. When critical elements, such as certain types of essential vitamins, are missing from daily meals. It is acceptable for humans to lack the nutrition they need to improve their health. When people eat improperly, it is, in fact, extremely hazardous.

On the other extreme, smoking has clear negative effects, yet eating sensibly still benefits people's health. Numerous studies have shown that smoking seriously impairs one's health in any way. Smokers are frequently on the verge of developing cancer. Because the harmful chemicals in cigarette smoke can harm human organs like the lungs, many nonsmokers who passively breathe in the smoke.

On the other hand, people's health is unquestionably improved by following a healthy diet. It is clear that individuals can maintain their health when their bodies are given the essential nutrients. There would be an adequate intake of essential vitamins and minerals to improve people's health. If people were aware of the importance of sustaining daily meals that are appropriate in terms of nutrition.

In conclusion, it seems to me that food product commercials shouldn't be banned. Because they only cause harm when consumed improperly. But smoking advertisements should be because they hurt people's health in every way.

Band 7.5 IELTS Essay

There should be a ban on marketing for both particular food products as well as smoking. Since some medical professionals think that extreme food intake has the same harmful effects on people's health as smoking. While I acknowledge that some food marketing may result in major health issues. Such as smoking, I do not think that food product advertising should be outlawed.

On the one extreme, eating excessive amounts of food is bad for the general public's health for two main reasons. The first is that eating too much leads to an increase in body fat, which can greatly exacerbate obesity and diabetes.

The number of obese persons who have self-preventable diseases brought on by overeating has steadily increased at a rate that has never before been seen. The main reason is that regularly consuming unhealthy food, such as fast food, sugary beverages, or processed food, can lead to a variety of health issues. Such high blood pressure or cholesterol. As a result, the health risks associated with excessive food consumption are probably equal to those associated with smoking or even lung disease.

Despite the issues raised above, I oppose the idea of outlawing food marketing the same way that tobacco advertisements are outlawed.

First off, advertising is essential for food businesses to reach out to potential clients and offer their new goods and services. Without promotional materials, many food businesses would go through crises as a result of the loss in profits brought on by the prohibition policy. Additionally, it is bad for buyers because they won't know about the goods they wish to acquire. In truth, advertising motivates individuals to make purchases. But it has little impact on people's food choices, which are largely made by the customers themselves.

In conclusion, even though I believe that eating too much food is just as bad for your health as smoking, I don't think food advertisements should be outlawed.

Band 8 IELTS Essay

According to some sources, eating too much food is just as harmful to your health as smoking.

However, I vehemently reject the notion that certain food product advertisements ought to be banned.

I disagree that some food products should be advertised in the same way that tobacco commercials are prohibited for a number of good reasons. The main justification is that when food is consumed in the right amounts, it does not negatively impact our health.

However, excessive food consumption might result in health problems including obesity. Another justification for banning cigarette sponsorships is the scientific evidence showing how harmful smoking is to our health. This is not true of all foods, though, as they are not as harmful as tobacco products. Therefore, it serves no purpose to outlaw food product advertising.

Programs that promote particular foods may have a variety of advantages. It is obvious that watching advertising programs could give consumers additional knowledge and insight into the nutritious makeup of certain goods. For instance, customers may buy certain items, which would guarantee that they would have enough energy after utilizing those. After promoting their products, certain fast food chains may also fulfill their obligations to reduce overeating. This implies that they could make more money from advertising campaigns. Which would enable them to help some organizations increase public awareness of the problem of overeating.

Furthermore, there is no doubt that the advertisements inform consumers about products and raise public awareness of them. Additionally, it is each person's personal decision whether or not to consume particular food items.

Therefore, prohibiting the marketing of certain food items would be ineffective. The issue is not with the food itself, but rather with overeating. Governments should educate the public about the negative effects of overeating rather than outlawing specific food products.

I do not believe that food advertisements should be outlawed because food is only harmful when consumed in large quantities. Instead, public education campaigns about the value of consuming all foods in moderation should be started by the government.
