Topic: Personal electronic devices such as smartphones, laptops or tablets are getting more common as learning tools. Do the advantages of using these devices outweigh the disadvantages?

Band 7.5 IELTS Essay

Individual electronic devices like tablets, smartphones, and laptops have become incredibly popular in recent years. Despite the disadvantages that these technologies have, their benefits are far more obvious.

On the one hand, using digital tools in education could have some serious drawbacks. The biggest drawback of these devices is how they divert pupils' attention. Many kids find themselves quite bored in class because they find Instagram, music, and gaming to be more engaging. It is common knowledge that kids check their phones in class up to 15 times per day.

Their test results obviously suffer as a result. I also want to draw attention to the frequency of inaccurate information. Users are readily drawn into false and unreliable sources of information because these devices are linked to the Internet. For instance, pupils who read an improper book online might be misled by misleading information contained in it.

On the other hand, despite the fact that using electronic devices for studying has a number of disadvantages, users can still enjoy a number of advantages. In the beginning, these tools offer pupils a more varied source of knowledge. Including photos and videos, which aid in illustration while studying, as opposed to traditional learning methods.

Students have a greater chance to comprehend classes better thanks to tablets, phones, and computers. There are also several applications that are used for studying. Teachers can let students use voice recognition software to correct their pronunciation or listen to podcasts in place of reading textbooks. The development of pupils' independence is another argument in their favor. Even if there are doubts regarding the veracity of many online information sources. They are nonetheless offered as useful resources for students to learn independently.

For instance, they can avoid asking teachers by searching up a word's definition in a dictionary on their phone.

In short, the revolution in educational methodology has been effective in part because of the use of individual technological devices in the classroom. These devices still have more benefits than drawbacks, notwithstanding any drawbacks they may have.

Band 8 IELTS Essay

Consumer electronics make new technology accessible to the common person, and this has both benefits and drawbacks. Despite the convenience of these technologies, I believe that using them generally has a negative effect on mental health.

The nearly infinite utility that phones and tablets offer is cited by supporters of these devices. You can instantly record video, snap pictures, send an email, browse social media, make calls, watch films, listen to music. Play online games, and use a wide range of productivity apps just by having a little, reasonably priced gadget that fits in your pocket. There is no disputing the almost miraculous advancements made possible by smartphones and tablets. When used appropriately, they reduce time requirements and increase the range of creative and personal expression options. For instance, a novice filmmaker can quickly record digital video, edit it on their phone, add sound effects, and upload it to a platform like YouTube.

However, the corrosive effect of phones limits their potential. Since phones also have programs meant to exploit psychological flaws in people. It is practically impossible to use them to foster creativity and productivity. Businesses like Facebook take advantage of people's innate need for validation by rewarding sharing selfies with addictive dopamine bursts. Those who are not social media addicts could find themselves spending hours playing video games. Because they get a similar chemical reward. The perceived ease of using mobile devices turns into an excuse rather than a reason to purchase. One when users eventually become reliant on unhealthy habits for which humans have not had enough time to create alternatives.

In conclusion, while phones and tablets offer new opportunities, misuse of them has produced a generation of reliant consumers. To protect their mental health, people must limit their screen usage, not organizations or governments.

Band 8.5 IELTS Essay

Around the past few decades, science and technology have made enormous progress all over the world. The majority of individuals believe that electronic devices like smartphones, tablets, and mobile phones are useful for everyone. However some people believe that they also have some disadvantages. These gadgets, in my opinion, are practical, inexpensive, and have a great effect on people's lives. The advantages and disadvantages of electronic devices will be covered in this essay.

The benefits of smartphones and tablets are numerous, to start. The key benefit of these gadgets is that they promote social contact and improve communication skills. In other words, you can instantly shoot photos, record videos. Listen to music, check social media, view movies, play games, and use a range of applications only by holding a little device. Additionally, these gadgets are useful in the educational field because they allow for the convenience of online learning. For instance, even though the majority of students are unable to attend courses at colleges or universities due to the COVID 19 pandemic. They can still easily complete an online study at home with the aid of smartphones and tablets. Electronic devices have thus had a favorable impact in every field.

However, there are certain issues with both smartphones and tablets. First of all, using electronics excessively makes one lazy. In other words, kids spend most of their time on social media and spend less time engaging in outside activities and paying attention in class. Additionally, the constant use of electronic devices has a negative impact on ocular vision. For instance, a recent study indicated that the majority of students suffer from mental illness. And visual issues as a result of the worrisome increase in their usage of smartphones and tablets. Each user only uses the devices for a short period of time as a result.

In conclusion, reading and exercise are also essential for everyone's development, even though technological devices provide many advantages.
