Band 8 IELTS Answer

The above given table presents data on people from UK working in different sectors in 1998 and 2006. These age groups include people from the ages of 18-25, 26-35, 36-45, 46-55, 56-65. So, people from ages 18 to 65 have been considered here. Apart from that the working sector categories include Hotel & Catering, Building, Technology, and Education.

In Hotel & Catering Sector, people belonging to the age range of 18-25 made up the majority of workforce and in 2006 majority workforce belonged to the age group of 36-45. The contribution of people aged between 56 to 65 remained low in both years but people aged between 46-55 saw an increase in their contribution in 2006 as compared to 1998.

In the Building Sector, the highest contributors were 18- to 25-year-olds in both years i.e., 1998 and 2006. The lowest contributor in the workforce belonged to the age group of 56-65. The contribution of middle-aged people i.e., people belonging to age group of 36-45 & 46-55 was also minimal. In fact, in the building sector as the ages increased the amount of people got lessened.

In the sector of Technology, the workforce was significantly small in 1998 as compared to 2006 as in the latter year almost tenfold labour growth is witnessed. The age group of 26-35 was the major contributor in 1998 and that mantle didn’t shift even in 2006. It seems in 1998 only people more interested in technology belonged to the age groups of 26-35 and 36-45. Although, the numbers significantly increased, the majority contributors were these two age groups in 2006 as well.

In Education Sector, the lowest contributors are people from the age group of 18-25 and majority workforce is made up of people belonging to age groups of 26-35, 36-45, 46-55. It is interesting to note that age ranges of 46-55 saw a decline in their numbers in 2006 as compared to 1998.

Band 7.5 IELTS Answer

The table contains data about People of UK from different age groups working in different sectors in the year 1998 and 2006. These age groups include: 18-25, 26-35, 36-45, 46-55, 56-65. The working sector categories include Hotel & Catering, Building, Technology, and Education.

In the year 1998, people belonging to the age range of 18-25 and 26-35 remained the major contributors in workforce in the sectors of hotel & catering and building. The sector of technology received major contributions from people aged between 26 -35 while the education sector’s major workforce belonged to the age range of 36-45 and 46-55. The sectors of education and building were more popular in 1998 as they had a greater number of people working in them. Technology was the least popular sector with minimal workforce.

In the year 2006, the people in all sectors increased as compared to 1998 but the technology sector almost burst with tenfold people. The popularity of both – hotel & catering and building sectors reduced as the popularity of technology sector grew. The sector of education recorded no changes as its top contributors from 1998 remained at the top in 2006 too. In fact, the age group of 18-25 and 46-55 and 56-65 saw a decline in education sector workforce in 2006. The technology sector remained driven by the age group of 26-35 who contributed twice as many people than age groups coming in second.

Band 7 IELTS Answer

The table given here shows how many people from UK belonging to different age groups worked in certain sectors in the year 1998 and 2006. These age groups contain people from 18 to 65 years of age divided into groups of about 10. The sectors where people are working are - Hotel & Catering, Building, Technology, and Education.

The age group of 18-25 was very active in hotel & catering and building in 1998 and this activeness shifted to Technology in 2006. People aged between 18-25 didn’t significantly contribute to education sector neither in 1998 nor in 2006. On the other hand, the age group of 26-35 dominated the technology sector in both years i.e., 1998 and 2006. This age group has significantly increased their contribution in every sector in 2006 as compared to 1998 and in no sector were they the lowest contributors in any year.

The age group of 36-45 and 46-55 saw an increase in workforce from 1998 to 2006 in the sector of hotel & catering but a decline in building sector. These age groups also increased their numbers in technology sector but in education sector where age group of 36-45 saw a rise in figures in 2006 in comparison with 1998, the age group of 46-55 actually recorded a dip.

Lastly, the age group of 56-65 remained the lowest contributor in almost all sectors except education. The workforce of this sector didn’t cross the 50000 marks once and in about five cases the contribution was of less than 10000 people. It is suggested that UK should rethink its retirement maybe.
