Band 8 IELTS Letter

Dear Sir,

I am writing to express my concern regarding the recent letter I received from your bank. It stated that my account is $240 overdrawn and that I will be charged $700, which will be taken directly from my account. I am confident that this information is incorrect and I would like to bring it to your attention.

I have been a customer of your bank for a few years now and I have always been vigilant about monitoring my account balance and transactions. Upon reviewing my account, I discovered that there have been unauthorized charges to my account, which led to the overdraft. I am confident that these charges are not made by me and I would like to request an investigation into this matter.

I have already taken the necessary steps to report this unauthorized activity and have requested for a new debit card. However, I am concerned about the proposed $700 charge and would like to request for it to be waived. I understand that overdraft fees are a common practice in the banking industry. But I strongly believe that this particular fee is unjustified, given the circumstances.

In light of the above, I kindly request that you look into this matter and take the necessary steps to rectify the issue. I would also appreciate it if you could provide me with an update on the status of the investigation and the steps being taken to resolve the issue. I am eager to have this matter resolved as soon as possible, and I am available to discuss the matter further should you require any additional information.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Yours sincerely,
Raghav

Band 7.5 IELTS Letter

Dear Ma’am,

I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to bring to your attention an issue regarding my bank account with your institution. Recently, I received a letter from you stating that my account is $240 overdrawn and that I will be charged a fee of $700. I am writing to inform you that this information is incorrect.

I have kept a close eye on my account balance and transactions and I am confident that there has been no overdraft on my account. I have not exceeded my account balance and there have been no unauthorized transactions on my account.

I request that you immediately investigate this matter and take the necessary steps to rectify the error. I am confident that this is a mistake on your end and I would like it to be corrected as soon as possible. I have always had a good relationship with your bank and I would not like this matter to impact it negatively.

Furthermore, I request that you refrain from deducting any fees from my account until this issue is resolved. I would also appreciate it if you could provide me with a detailed explanation of how this error occurred and what measures you are taking to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.

Band 6.5 IELTS Letter

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing this letter in regards to the letter that I received from your bank two days ago. It quoted that I am currently $240 overdrawn and will be charged a fee of $70, which will be deducted from my savings account. I want to assure you that this is not the case and I believe it must be a mistake made by the bank. I kindly request that you investigate this matter before imposing any charges on me.

For the past eleven months, I have been making a $300 monthly payment for a car loan that I took from your bank. These payments have been automatically deducted from my savings account. However, last month I paid the outstanding balance of the loan and fully settled it with the bank. I even sent a letter to the bank informing them of this and received a letter of acknowledgement from you. Despite this, it seems that another $300 payment has been made to the loan this month, which is why I am now shown as overdrawn on my statement. I am attaching a copy of my statement for your review.

It is clear that this is an error that needs to be corrected immediately. I would like you to reverse the transaction and stop the monthly payments from being taken from my savings account, as the loan has already been fully paid.

I appreciate your prompt attention to this matter and I look forward to hearing back from you soon.

Yours faithfully,
Bhuvan
