Letter To English-Speaking Friend Inviting Them For A Family Wedding IELTS General Writing Task 1 is a letter writing topic. Candidates are asked to write an informal letter. Each of the three sample responses contains an introduction, a body, and a conclusion in three paragraphs. The letter must be brief and to the point.
For IELTS General Writing Task 1, letters can be written in formal, informal, or semi-formal styles. The candidates must complete the task in 20 minutes. Topic: You have invited your English-speaking friend to a family wedding and reserved a room at the hotel for him/her as you agreed before. You won’t be able to meet him/her at the airport. Write a letter to your friend, describing:
- the reason why you can’t meet him/her,
- how he/she can get to the hotel from the airport,
- the hotel where you made the reservation.
Band 7 IELTS Letter
Dear Ray,
On Friday morning, I am looking forward to your arrival. Unfortunately, I will not be able to pick you up from the airport as scheduled due to unforeseen circumstances. I am recommending alternative routes to get you to the hotel I have reserved for you because I have an unavoidable business meeting that I can't avoid.
Hiring a cab from the area outside the airport might be one option. If you have a lot of bags, choosing that would be the most practical alternative.
