Topic: Individuals can do nothing to help improve the environment; only the government and large companies can make a difference. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Band 7.5 IELTS Essay

Over the past few decades, environmental issues like the greenhouse effect and ice melting have gotten much worse. Some contend that people lack the resources to address problems, and that only governments and big businesses can do so. From my perspective, not only the government and large corporations have the power to change this situation.

But also each and every one of us has the power to make our surroundings beautiful and orderly. First and foremost, we have a responsibility to protect our one and only earth. If waste were to be scattered all over the place, the world would resemble a terrible dump. It would be disastrous for the entire ecosystem and hard to imagine. On the other hand, by keeping environmental protection in mind and taking measures, the entire globe would have a more peaceful and clean atmosphere. Furthermore, it is generally acknowledged that public perceptions influence government environmental policy and corporate decisions in a favourable way. For instance, governments may implement a suggestion to reduce industrial water consumption. Especially those that were made by a region or a union by passing laws to carry out the measure, but it will ultimately be carried out by lone individuals. Large corporations and the government both have the ability to enhance our environment. The ability of firms to effectively protect themselves is facilitated by their ample resources, such as wealth and brand influence. They might readily increase public knowledge through various strategies, such as public service advertising, which people cannot do on their own. However, every aspect of a career in environmental protection still depends on personal commitment. In conclusion, it is important to treat both aspects of power carefully. The change that is manifested by the collected tiny actions of each citizen are brought about by people acting as participants. The government and businesses also play a significant role in addressing environmental issues. The only way the world can be ecologically sound, balanced, and peaceful is by combining the contributions of all parties.

Band 8 IELTS Essay

It is argued that enhancing an environment can only be done by large organisations and governments, with little or no involvement from the general public. Personally, I prefer to disagree with this viewpoint. Because people make sure the environment is clean and pay their taxes on time to maintain the economy functioning well. Some believe that the only parties accountable for protecting the environment are governments and large corporations.

Perhaps this is a result of the government's provision of infrastructure amenities that would enhance the quality of life for the people. Such as good road systems, the construction of schools, and hospitals. For instance, having a quality medical facility could aid in the fight against environmental microorganisms and diseases. However, businesses might contribute to increasing job creation and lowering the nation's unemployment rate. For instance, Aliko Dangote, a well-known business tycoon in Nigeria, was able to hire more nationals after opening his refinery. The high unemployment rate has decreased as a result of this. These might therefore be the causes of this school of thought. I disagree, though, that people have little to no responsibility for enhancing the environment. Despite the fact that governments play a role, every person should have a variety of options to better the environment and make it liveable for them. Since they are in close contact with their surroundings, they must first ensure that they are regularly cleaned. Due to viruses inability to thrive in a clean environment, this may help to eradicate diseases or an epidemic outbreak from the environment. Individuals can also limit their use of fossil fuels in their cars and household appliances to lower air pollution. If we don't make investments in renewable energy sources like solar, wind, and water, global warming could have a big impact on our globe. These are the explanations for my belief that people have a responsibility to their environs. In conclusion, it is logical to conclude that the populace of the area should be actively involved to ensure cleanliness of the surroundings. Even though the government sector and large companies safeguard their environment by producing jobs and ensuring that adequate amenities are provided.

Band 8.5 IELTS Essay

The environment is being harmed daily by numerous human activities. The question that arises in this situation is who is accountable for its improvement: the government, business models, or consumers? According to me, everyone has a responsibility to protect the ecosystem. Individuals may do this by making wise purchases, and governments can do this by keeping an eye out for improper manufacturing methods.

I disagree that people have no power to improve the environment because they have a direct impact on the market's supply and demand dynamics. It implies that the production and supply of the products that harm the environment will increase as demand for them increases. However, if they want to buy eco-friendly or organic items, companies will be obligated to create the same products. For instance, people may stop wearing accessories made of snake or crocodile skin and switch to ones made of cotton or synthetic materials. The non-biodegradable materials can also be recycled and reused, which helps to protect the environment. For instance, they can donate plastic toys to charities or reuse plastic water bottles. In this way, people are essential in preventing more harm to the situation. On the other hand, because they are in charge of the processes used to produce the final goods, both the government and large corporations have obligations. When producing new outputs, they should use resources and fuels that are friendly to the environment. When electricity can be produced with the aid of solar panels, solar energy can be used as an example. Even, manufacturers have even installed windmills in several regions of the world. In addition to conserving renewable resources like coal and petroleum, it is also more affordable than them. Moving on to the safety of the animals, it is necessary to ban animal testing because doing so would protect our fauna, an essential part of our ecology. In India, Meneka Gandhi opposed the practice and was successful in stopping it in a number of places. In conclusion, protecting our planet is a top priority. But doing so requires cooperation between the public, the government, businesses, and producers in order to find a medium ground. If not, the day when the world becomes history won't be too far off.
