The line graph compares the birth rates in China and the United States from 1920 to 2000. Overall, it is clear that while both countries' birth rates declined throughout the time. It followed comparable trajectories, China's decrease was the most pronounced. With the exception of two brief periods in the early half of the century, the birth rate in the USA was higher throughout the bulk of the time.

Around 11% of Americans were born in 1920, which was 1% more than in China. Up until roughly 1930, both countries' patterns were similar and irregular, but then China's birth rate spiked to 15% and the US's rose to 12%. Then, throughout the following 15 years, birth rates declined, with the USA falling to 6% and China reaching a noteworthy low of 5%.

Over the following few years, the birth rate in China doubled to a peak of 20%, which was followed by a gradual decline with small variations. A data point at roughly 2% to finish the time examined.
