Model Answer 1

Where it is?

India is a diverse country with numerous cultures, languages, religions, and cuisines. With each turn in any city or town in this land, one will encounter something fresh. Among the many well-known structures that pique my curiosity, the Red Fort, along with the Taj Mahal, is one of the outstanding examples of Mughal architecture. The Red Fort, Lal Qila, is located in Delhi. It was named from the red sandstone used to construct this extraordinarily complicated edifice.

How old it is?

The Red Fort's construction was finished about 1648. It covers an area of 255 acres. It has been a part of numerous significant events during its more than 370-year existence. Nadir Shah, the Persian king, pillaged the city in 1739. He demolished many exquisite sections of the Red Fort and stole the Peacock Throne, which had previously been placed in the Diwan-i-Khas.

How does it look?

The Red Fort was initially created in red and white since those were Shah Jahan's favourite colours. It consists magnificent halls such as the Diwan-i-Khas and Diwan-i-Am, palaces such as the Rang Mahal and the Mumtaz Mahal, and gorgeous gardens such as the Hayat-Baksh-Bagh and private halls linked by the Nahr-i-Behisht, which translates as the Stream of Paradise.

And explain why you think it is an important landmark/ building.

Due to its amazing history and majestic beauty, UNESCO inscribed the Red Fort to the World Heritage Sites list in Delhi in 2007. In addition to being an important historical episode, this fort is still significant today. Every year on August 15th, the Premier of India addresses the entire nation from the Red Fort, following in the footsteps of the country's first Prime Minister. The significance of the Red Fort resides in the remarkable architecture and tranquil beauty.

Where it is?

Brazil has a significant number of landscapes, with Christ the Redeemer being one of the most important. In fact, this has become a national landmark. Now I will briefly explain the statue, and I appreciate you for allowing me to speak on this subject. This is a statue of Christ in the guise of a global saviour. The statue may be seen in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Because it is placed on top of a hill, it seems bigger and more traceable from a distance. It is stated that the residents of the area where the monument currently stands were disregarding religion. A spirit of Godlessness pervaded the land.

How old it is?

The idea of erecting a Christian monument on Corcovado first surfaced in the 1850s. At the same time, preliminary planning was carried out. However, due to several difficulties, it was not established. Later, in 1920, another attempt was made to erect such a monument. As a result, efforts to create the statue were initiated. The creation of the monument began in 1922, and it took nine years to construct the full statue. It was finished in 1931.

How does it look?

This is the country's most well-planned statue. It weighs around 635 metric tonnes. The statue is located atop the Corcovado mountain, which is also part of the Tijuca Forest National Park. Rio de Janeiro is seen from the park. This statue represents Christianity in the neighborhood. Prior to the installation of the monument, most people had little regard for God. And the monument performed an intriguing function in reminding people of God.

And explain why you think it is an important landmark/ building.

To be honest, the monument is a source of pride for us and other Brazilians. For longevity, the entire structure is composed of reinforced concrete. It was restored in the 1990s through a combination of private and governmental efforts, as some of its pieces had become damaged, cracked, and infested with fungus over time.

Where it is?

Dhaka, Bangladesh's capital city, contains a variety of sites that reflect my country's culture and history in significant ways. Today, I'd like to discuss one such landmark, which I've known as my own neighborhood since I was a youngster.

This well-known monument is known as "Ahsan Manzil" (meaning "the palace of Ahsan," where "Ahsan" was the name of a well-known landlord's son). Many people in my nation refer to this location as the "palace on the river" since it is located on the bank of the "Buriganga" river.

How old it is?

This famed "pink castle" (named pink because of its exquisite pink colour) was also the official home palace of the "Nawab". In any case, it is now a museum, and visitors may go there to see various historical and archaeological artifacts. It contains 23 galleries with portraits, furniture, and other items used by the Nawabs on exhibit.

How does it look?

In terms of appearance and design, Ahsan Manzil is largely European in its architectural expression. The building's triple-arched entryway, temple facade with a pediment on top, Greco-Roman column capitals. The two-story palace spans 125.4m by 28.75m and is built on a 1m elevated platform. The ground floor is 5 metres tall, while the first story is around 5.8 metres tall.

And explain why you think it is an important landmark/ building.

In any case, it is a notable monument, particularly because it is one of Bangladesh's greatest instances of Indo-European architecture. Furthermore, it has seen numerous historical occurrences in Bangladesh, ranging from the late nineteenth century to the early years of Pakistan. Many historical and political gatherings were held in this particular palace.
