Band 7 Answer

The two pie charts that are presented here show the various circumstances in which people used bicycles or cars for transportation to work. For both vehicles, there are five different explanations given. In general, comfort is the main factor in the nearly 50% of users of cars in the graph.

However, according to statistics on health, exercise, and reduced pollution, 30% of transportation was made up of bicycles. One one side, there were 15% of individuals who rode bicycles since there were no parking issues like there are with cars. In contrast, 14% of employees drive to work because it is quicker than cycling and allows them to transport more supplies. Due to low expenses, 13% of people possess bicycles. The use of bicycles, which is faster than driving, is made by 12% of the population. The same goes for 11% of commuters who drive because it is safer than riding. Additionally, a proportion of 21 persons who live in faraway areas commute by car. It appears that most people who bike to work do so for environmental and health reasons in general. Those that drive desire to go longer distances in greater comfort, on the other hand.

Band 7.5 Answer

The first graph outlines the justifications given by certain UK residents for choosing to bike to work. The second graph, on the other hand, lists the justifications for people who drive themselves to work. The majority of people who favour bicycle transportation claim that this is due to the fact that it is healthier to commute by bike than by car.

This was cited as the cause by 30% of them. 30% of the same number of people claim they bike to work because it produces less pollution. Since biking is less expensive than driving, 13% of individuals commute by it. Unexpectedly, a same percentage of respondents claimed that they cycled to work since it is quicker than taking a car. On the other hand, 40% of people say they prefer to travel by automobile because it is more comfortable. The two least important arguments for driving to work are people needing to carry goods and the notion that driving is safer than riding to work. Both accounting for 14% and 11% less, respectively. Lastly, 16% of respondents claim that they prefer driving since it is quicker than riding. Those who commute by bicycle instead of driving since it is faster are an exception to this.

Band 8 Answer

The two pie charts give a percentage breakdown of the main reasons why people prefer to drive or ride to work. While driving to work is thought to offer the most advantages. Due to the convenience of the vehicle, the majority of people who choose to cycle do so for health and environmental reasons.

What's noteworthy is that their preferred method is the fastest for approximately equally as many people. More than half of persons who prefer biking as a mode of transportation cite health, fitness, and reduced pollution as their primary motivations. Each one accounts for 30% of the total, which is twice as much as the next most common explanation, which is a lack of parking problems at 15%. Those that commute by automobile have made their choice due to a different set of issues. At 40% of respondents, comfort is by far the most essential factor. While just over a fifth of drivers place greater importance on proximity to their place of employment. A shorter commute is the most important consideration for 14% of people, compared to 12% of bikers who find their mode of transportation to be the quickest. It appears that the majority of those who ride to work do so for basic wellness and sustainability concerns. However, people who drive want to travel farther while enjoying better comfort.
