Chart Shows the Division of Household Tasks by Gender in Great Britain IELTS Writing Task 1 sample answers have been provided in this article. This topic is based on statistics where candidates are asked to analyse the given line graph about the division of household work by gender in Great Britain. Candidates are required to summarise the given information based on the given graph/chart/diagram. Thus, a brief conclusion is also necessary to be provided in this aspect. The given graphs show how household chores are divided between men and women in British households. The statistic is minutes per person, per day. In most domestic tasks, women are in charge of doing more work than males, with the exception of gardening, caring for animals, and odd jobs in maintenance. While men like to spend their time gardening and taking care of their pets, women spend the majority of their time cooking, baking, and cleaning up.

As shown in the statistics, women spend 74 minutes per day preparing food, baking, and cleaning up, whereas males just need 30 minutes. Cleaning and maintaining the home takes nearly an hour per day from females, compared to 13 minutes from males. And it is the second-largest amount of work performed by women. Women spend more time than men do caring for and playing with their children, with 45 minutes compared to 20 minutes for males. Males spend only 2 minutes every day doing laundry, ironing, sewing, and other household chores, compared to 25 minutes for women. A different picture emerges when looking at the gardening and pet care industries. According to data, males perform 49.5 minutes and 21 minutes more of the work, respectively, than women. In a similar vein, men work on maintenance odd jobs for 25 minutes, while women work on them for only 10 minutes. To sum up, men spend the majority of their time working on domestic tasks like gardening, taking care of pets, and odd jobs. While women spend much more time than men working on household chores like cleaning, cooking, and caring for children.

Band 6.5 Answer

The graph that is shown provides data on how much time men and women in Great Britain spend performing home tasks. The metric is minutes per person, per day. According to the charts, women typically perform more work than men when it comes to household duties. Men worked more in gardening, pet care, and odd jobs in maintenance.

Data shows that women spend more time than men doing household chores like cooking, cleaning, and childrearing. While men spent more time doing odd jobs like gardening. While men spend the majority of their time working on domestic tasks like gardening, taking care of animals, and odd jobs.
