Topic: What are the advantages and disadvantages of mass media?

Band 7 IELTS Essay

Retrospection would show that mass media is pervasive in the modern era, and history has confirmed this. I'll talk about the advantages and disadvantages of this occurrence in this essay.

To start, there are many advantages to using electronic media. The main benefit is that the media has a lot of cognitive content that expands our perspectives, making it a valuable source of knowledge. Furthermore, people are certainly stuck to their routines as a result of which they lack the opportunity to spend their valuable time with the family. Making it difficult for them to stay in touch with those who are close to them.

For instance, Facebook, a social media platform, offers regular people the chance to connect with their friends and family.

In this instance, the internet is a really pertinent example. When my parents built an internet connection in my home, I remember being a young adult. It appeared to be a magical portal that allowed me to play games, keep up with everything going on in the globe, and more.

The truth about this tool, though, only became clear later. Numerous atrocities, including shootings and acts motivated by prejudice against certain groups, have been unchecked streamed online.

But just as every moon has a dark side, so do some aspects of mass media. The first and foremost is that many people experience isolation. As a result of their propensity to watch movies and browse the internet more and more, which has fueled individualism. Because people may work from home with the aid of modern technology, it goes without saying that residents also sacrifice their sleep schedules. As a result, they frequently experience health problems like eye strain, social isolation, or stress. Mass media has negative effects on society.

To sum up, I truly believe that the media, which has many advantages for the average person, plays a key role in the present period. It does, however, have a few inescapable downsides.

Band 8 IELTS Essay

Mass media has advanced much since it was first touted as an efficient means of disseminating information. Thanks to the development of technology, information may now be accessed from a variety of sources. However, each of these sources reports an incident in a unique way, and as word of the incident spreads, it acquires a completely new meaning.

Social media has made it so that information circulates quickly that next-day newspapers are no longer necessary. Many people believe the news without verifying its accuracy.

When I witnessed religious disturbances in some cities across the nation. It confirmed for me that there were more negative effects of mass media than positive ones. Multiple fake news stories that circulated through different mass media outlets incited all of these factions. Internet access was shut down in the places where violence broke out as a result of the situation getting worse.

As a result of seeing such horrific events, I've come to the conclusion that the media is mostly employed to influence people's opinions. Nowadays, the average person cannot afford the luxury of unbiased knowledge. But because there are no substitutes for mass media, it keeps thriving and wreaking damage. There are many small examples of how the media are circulating to make knowledge widely available. Like the rapidly expanding websites and TV channels. All forms of information exchange medium have benefits and drawbacks, and not all can appeal to all sorts of viewers. For the purpose of conveying knowledge, comic books, radio, television, movies, and live theater are all very effective mediums. Among the aforementioned six mediums, I believe that books, television, and movies are the most effective.

Mass media won't be a useful instrument, despite its ability to make information exchange simple. Until significant controls are put in place to guarantee that the public receives objective news. However, it could seem like a pipe dream with firms operating independently and frequently possessing more power than a nation's government.

Band 9 IELTS Essay

History has backed up retrospective evidence that the present period is heavily influenced by mass media. In this essay, I'll discuss both the benefits and drawbacks of this occurrence.

To start, using electronic media has a lot of benefits. The biggest advantage is that the media is a great source of knowledge. Because it contains a lot of cognitive content that broadens our viewpoints. People are also firmly rooted in their routines, which prevents them from having the chance to spend their precious free time with their families. Making it challenging for them to maintain contact with their loved ones.

A social media network like Instagram, for instance, allows average individuals to communicate with their family and friends.

The world wide web is a particularly relevant example in this case. I can recall being a teen or young adult when my parents installed a connection to the internet in our house. I could play games, stay up to date on world events, and more through what seemed to be a mystical doorway.

But it was only later that the truth about this technology came to light. There have been numerous unchecked online streaming tragedies, such as shootings and crimes inspired by hate against specific populations.

But some facets of modern media have a dark side, just like every moon. The initial and foremost is that a lot of people feel alone. They have become more and more prone to watching movies and using the internet, which has encouraged individualism. With the aid of contemporary technology, people may work from home, therefore it naturally follows that residents also compromise their sleep cycles. They usually suffer from health issues including eye strain, social isolation, or stress as a result. Society is negatively impacted by the media.

In conclusion, I firmly feel that the media, which offers the typical individual a number of benefits, is important in the modern era. There are a few unavoidable drawbacks, though.
