What was the event?

Colors are what give life beauty and make it worthwhile to live. Red is the colour of sacred passion, yellow is the colour of pleasure, and various hues have varied meanings. India is a country that celebrates colour as our own. Even though we celebrate a festival of colours, I want to talk about something far more intimate today.

When was it?

I want to inform you about the wedding of my aunt. Indian weddings are currently associated with grandeur, pomp, and the full majesty of the skies. Pre-wedding celebrations often last three days before the wedding. The groom's engagement is announced on the first day. The bride gets washed with yellow turmeric on the second day. And on the third day, there is a sing-along. The bride wears red on the day before the big wedding.

What was so colourful in it?

The days were just warm enough to feel comfortable wearing the full traditional celebration garb when my aunt was married in the first week of February. Every event had a dress code with colour requirements so that attendees could coordinate. Everyone wore white on the day of the engagement to symbolise purity and a type of new beginning. The room had a blue marble floor and a crystal chandelier. There was a striking resemblance to a recent winter snowstorm.

Why did you like it?

Everyone donned yellow on the day of the turmeric blessing. We had fun with the golden sun beams and the bright yellow turmeric. We were asked to dress in pastels on the third day of the sing-along in order to coordinate with the unique rose arrangements. But the major wedding night was the part that was really amazing. With her hair in braids, her hands painted with henna, and herself dressed in a dark crimson gown with intricate embroidery, my Aunt had never looked more stunning. The attire of the visitors was a kaleidoscope of hues, including glistening black, metallic and holographic silver outfits, vibrant green jackets, and fluorescent dresses. It was amazing to see. Under the stars, everyone danced, creating their own galaxies. A day that honoured not only the happy union of marriage but also the hues that evoke feelings in our world.

What was the event?

The colourful occasion that pops into my head is undoubtedly a unique one. The Biennale is an international art festival that invites painters from all over the globe to Kochi, a charming fort city in Southern India, to paint.

When was it?

It is a place that I am happy to call home. The city embraces colour on every street and monument throughout the months of December and January. I've been going there for two years. These gorgeous pieces of art are created by French and German artisans on tree bark.

What was so colourful in it?

The entire city appears to have been covered with colour. Green and brown colour schemes with other earthy tones portray communities and people from many tribes and civilizations. There are also animals and birds. The brilliant colours they utilise last until the monsoons sweep them away. I can still picture myself strolling around the streets and snapping pictures of various creative renderings.

Why did you like it?

The show halls are decorated with flowers and other furnishings to give them a varied colour motif. I came to this event feeling fairly enthusiastic and energised. It's undoubtedly one of the cutest and most colourful festivals I've ever witnessed, and the entire city clearly gets a sense of it.
