The MS course of IIT Tirupati is of three years duration maximum and students are admitted under two categories, they are Regular full-time and External
Engineering graduates from IITs and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutes (CFTI) with a CGPA of at least 8/10 are eligible for seeking admission, without a GATE score, to the MS Program and they can be offered HTRA if selected.
IIT Tirupati also provides financial assistantship to the students admitted under the regular full-time category

IIT Tirupati MS Eligibility Criteria & Fees

The Candidates must check for their eligibility before applying for the MS course in IIT Tirupati. The eligibility criteria are:

Candidates must have passed their M. Sc/MCA/ Engineering/ Technology degree with a minimum of 55% of marks in aggregate

Candidates must be the member of The Institution of Engineers (India) (Civil/Mechanical/Electrical and Electronics/Electronics and communications), The Institute of Electronics and Tele-Communication Engineering, and have passed both parts A and B with good academic results

Candidates who have done their graduation from IITs with a score of 8/10 CGPA can take admission without a GATE score
Candidates must appear for the GATE examination and have a valid score in GATE.

IIT Tirupati MS Admission Criteria 2023

The Candidates for the MS course is selected based on the score of GATE and the shortlisted candidates are further called for an interview/ written test

The admission to the MS course is done in two categories:

Regular (full-time)- a scholar can be selected under Institute HTRA, a fellowship from CSIR/ UGC?INSPIRE etc., project funding.
External- the candidates under the external category are sponsored and employed in national laboratories/ organizational/ industry having Research and development facility and recognition by DST or by IIT Tirupati.

IIT Tirupati MS FAQs

Ques. Is there any financial assistantship provided to IIT Tirupati MS students?

Ans. The financial assistance provided to the MS students is based on the MoE norms. The candidates admitted under the full-time category are eligible for the Half time Research Assistantship (HTRA) for which they should work for 8 hours per week in the institution, the renewal of the scholarships will be based on the progress in the research work and the candidates selected are required to work in the sponsored area of research.

Ques. What is the IIT Tirupati MS application fee that the candidates are required to pay while applying?

Ans. The Candidates need to pay the online fee after applying for the IIT Tirupati MS course. The application fee for OBC/GN/EWS-NCL Male candidates is INR 100, for OBC/GN/EWS-NCL NCL Female candidates it is INR 50 and for SC/ST and PwD candidates it is INR 50.

Ques. Is there any provision for refunding fees in case of cancellation of admission in IIT Tirupati MS degree?

Ans. IIT Tirupati Offers refundable fees, which are an Institute deposit of INR 1000 and a Library Deposit of INR 1000. A total of INR 2000 is refundable to the students after the completion of the MS course. Although the admission fees are not refundable.

Ques. Is there a hostel facility for the IIT Tirupati MS students?

Ans. Yes, IIT Tirupati offers a hostel facility for the students of MS course. The rooms are spacious and well equipped. The food given in the hostel is healthy and fresh. There is a Wardon for each hostel building, who takes care of the problems for the students. There is a separate hostel facility for boys and girls.

They include lack of infrastructure, unchartered territory, etc. If you have to choose, go by branch and not by the IIT brand name. You can opt for other colleges like BITS Pilani, NIT Trichy/Warangal as they will provide much better opportunities, considering placements. Both CSE in Vasavi engineering college and chemical engineering in IIT Tirupati are very good courses to pursue, but these both streams are very different from each other and have different applications. Looking at the placement opportunities between the two branches, CSE at Vasavi Engineering College will be a better choice as this branch has a better scope and job opportunities. A lot of companies visit the college for interviews. Here are the recent placement highlights for Vasavi. Both IIT Jodhpur and IIT Tirupati are reputed institutes. However, IIT Jodhpur is a second-generation IIT whereas IIT Tirupati is a third-generation IIT and has a long way to go to be at par with IIT Jodhpur. Based on what I heard from my friends at IIT Jodhpur, I can say it has a terrific campus. It is the first fully planned technical campus with unique Incubation and Technology Park. IIT Jodhpur is making good advances in its placement and research work. Students at the institute get placed in core and non-core companies. Many alumni of the institute are also pursuing their studies in foreign universities. Here are some recent statistics regarding the two institutes. IIT Tirupati CSE is better. It will offer better opportunities in terms of placement and internships. Placement Highlights: Out of 44 students of 2021 CSE batch, 32 students received industrial internships and 12 students got academic internships. From 2021 batch, 24 students from the CSE branch were eligible for placement and 23 students received placement offers. IIT Tirupati CSE average package for this year was INR 12 LPA. It is an institute of national importance and receives high funding from Govt of India. IITs also conduct many competitions, workshops, and special training for students. Since your branch is CS, you don’t need to worry much about the infrastructure of the newly build IIT Tirupati.

While IIT Tirupati and IIT Palakkad were recently established and haven't been ranked yet by NIRF. On the other hand IIT Dhanbad, previously known as ISM is ranked 15th according to NIRF for engineering.
