Course Description

MPharm at BIT Mesra is a 2 year full-time program divided into 4 semesters. The prorgam is specialized in 5 courses and offers a total of 83 seats. Students to the program are admitted primarily on the basis of GPAT exam scores and an interview conducted at the Mesra campus. Non-GPAT candidates undergo BIT Mesra entrance exam and an Interview round for admission. Total fee for the 2 year MPharm program is INR 5.30 Lacs. Check BIT Mesra MPharm brochure

BIT Mesra MPharm Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates seeking admission into the M.Pharm program, must hold a B.Pharm. degree from a PCI and AICTE approved Institute. 
  • Candidates must have scored a minimum 55% marks on average (50% for SC/ST) in their graduation. 
  • Candidates should preferably be GPAT 2020 / GPAT 2021/GPAT 2022 qualified. 
  • Non-GPAT candidates may also apply. However, their applications will be considered only after applicants who have qualified in GPAT have been considered, admitted (for details, please see the selection procedure). 
  • Candidates appearing for final examinations of their Bachelor’s program / qualifying examination in 2022 can also apply and if selected can join the program provisionally. At the time of the counselling they must bring a certificate in original from the Principal of Institute stating that: 
    • He/she has obtained requisite marks [55% (50% for SC/ST) upto pre-final year / semester] or equivalent based on the latest available grades / marks.

BIT Mesra MPharm Courses

BIT Mesra MPharm offers 5 courses:

Selection to BIT Mesra MPharm is done on the basis of GPAT exam score, past academic performance and an interview round. BIT Mesra also gives admission to the non-GPAT candidates on the basis institute-based entrance exam. Candidates with GPAT 2023/2022/2021 scores will be given preference. If seats remain vacant, candidates from the non-GPAT qualified list who appeared for the entrance exam will be selected.

Once the selection is confirmed, shortlisted candidates are required to carry the following documents at the time of reporting:

  • Pass certificate of Class 10 for proof of age
  • Marksheet of Class 10
  • Marksheet of Class 12 / Intermediate or equivalent
  • Certificates and marksheets of Graduation / qualifying examination
  • Candidates with qualifications acquired through correspondence or distance- learning programs must carry proof of pass certificate, marksheets of qualifying examination and approval of DEC (Distance Education Council).
  • GPAT 2021 / GPAT 2022 / GPAT 2023 Admit card and Score card for MPharm.
  • Caste certificate / special category certificate (if applicable) should be in proper format and signed by appropriate authority.
  • One passport size photograph, identical to the photograph uploaded during filling of online application form.
  • Photo identification: (Driving license, Passport, PAN Card, Voter ID, Aadhaar Card, College ID, Employee Identification Card are acceptable).
  • College Leaving Certificate
  • Migration Certificate

BIT Mesra M.Pharm Application Process

The students should go through the eligibility guidelines before moving ahead. Follow these steps:

  • Visit the official website (www.bitmesra.ac.in)
  • Click over the link ‘click here to apply online’, 
  • A new page will appear where you need to register yourself with your information such as Full name, email address, mobile number.
  • You will receive an OTP for future correspondence. 
  • With the help of OTP, the candidates can create passwords and can sign in to proceed with the program application. 
  • Apply for the program and select campus of study (max. 3 campuses), click continue and fill in other details such as personal detail and bank details, personal address, upload photo and signature, educational detail, the last step is to pay the fee. 
  • The candidates can only pay through net banking, debit card, credit card, and UPI.

BIT Mesra MPharm Fees

BIT Mesra charges an amount of INR 4.65 Lacs for a 2 year MPharm program. The fee amount is different for all 4 semesters. Payment made in the first semester includes admission fee, caution money, and other charges which are common for the remaining semesters. BIT Mesra MPharm Course Details

  • The M.Pharm programme comprises 4 semesters in the duration of 2 years.
  • The course structure of the M.Pharm programme consists of various courses, practicals, assessments, seminars, conferences, scientific research and studies etc.
  • Each theory course of the M.Pharm programme consists of a total of 4 credits while each practical course consists of a total of 6 credits.
  • Candidates are also required to perform research work in the 4th semester of the M.Pharm program.

BIT Mesra MPharm Scholarship

BIT Mesra offers scholarship to MPharm students who apply with GPAT score. The amount is awarded to students with a valid GPAT 2023/2022/2021 scorecards. BIT Mesra also provides 20% fee waiver to candidates who score more than 90% percentile in the GPAT exam. Non-GPAT qualifying candidates are also given a scholarship of INR 6500 per month in the 3rd and 4th semester for 10 months. Scholarship amount is awarded to only students who score 8.0 or more CGPA in the first and second semester without any backlog.

Ans. No, the institute accepts the best eligible candidates for admission into the M.Pharm program. The institute conducts a written test for the selection procedure.

As a college BIT Mesra is a great option. Few of my friends attended the college and here are their thoughts regarding it. 

  • The college campus is serene and full of greenery. 
  • The infrastructure and facilities offered are great as the college has rebuilt its main building a few years back
  • Sports and gym facilities are decent. There is a separate gym in the girl's hostel. 
  • The placement scenario for BIT Mesra is good, especially for branches like CSE/IT. In the 2021 placement drive, the average CTC offered was INR 11.76 LPA.

There are quite a few drawbacks when it comes to BIT Mesra. Let me elaborate further on the same for you:

  • You will probably not have any campus life in the evening. All the people from the college will go back by 8 pm and you will probably not see anyone walking on the roads at all. 
  • If you compare the same thing to an IIT, you will see that their campus is buzzing after hours. There’s usually someone who is playing the guitar and students interacting with each other.

In my opinion, you can’t expect to share ideas or build an impact without this kind of social interaction.

  • If you are a girl on campus, you will be put through quite a few sexist rules. All through the four years, you will be made to live on a twin-sharing basis in a room meant for single occupancy. 
  • You will have to return to your hostel by 8 pm and give a roll call, which is much like a prisoner count. But, you can leave your room during curfew hours ( 8 pm to 6 am). The administration really needs to step up its security measures and lighting around the campus.
  • You will also realize that the administration is very stubborn with obtuse professors and a lot of internal politics. There is a severe lack of student constitution. The administration is not ready to make the required changes. Along with this, many students are not ready to take the initiative to make amends for this.

From my friend’s experience, the campus needs better security measures, more medical stores, a policy that regulated food prices (the canteens can be expensive), and a campaign to open the lawns.

This happened with one of my friends when she was in her first year. As we all know it is quite compulsory for every student to sign the register in order to get attendance every day and this regularly happens outside the mess before students enter to have dinner. 

It happened on that important day when my friend was tired of signing every day and she chose to sign for the whole month on the same day. However, the majority of it was compelled by the fact that the register isn't checked thoroughly but on that particular day, the superintendent checked the register and complained further. Eventually, the DSW's office inflicted a black dot to serve as a warning to other students. The above incident has caused many laughing riots on several occasions.

BITS Pilani is more famous and has better industry recognition. It offers a lot of academic freedom to students. It follows a zero attendance rule policy. Due to the strict selection process, the peer group of the institute is excellent. You will be sharing your lectures with some of the sharpest minds in the country. Owing to better industry connect, students get better internship opportunities from BITS Pilani.

At first, I would like you to know that there are certain causes behind the decline in quality. I've mentioned below a few of them here. 

  • Before there was no reservation at BIT Mesra. After 2006 they started a reservation policy. It is the first and foremost reason that became a harbinger for the others. 
  • According to many student reviews, the faculty at the institute are not that good. There is always one professor out of 20 who can be designated as a professor in every department. 
  • If you are in the T&P department then your placement is guaranteed along with the placement of your friends. As you will be in the head position and have easy access to the placement exams.

BIT Mesra isn’t a good option for M.Tech. It doesn’t have a good research culture. The placement opportunities offered are average. As per BIT Meshra placement trends, some tech companies such as Infosys, IBM, PWC, Hyundai, Amdocs, Cognizant, etc. recruit M.Tech students. Data Analyst, Java Developer, etc. are some of the common job roles offered by these companies.

A relative of mine used to be a student of BIT Mesra. She and a number of her peers have chosen Mr. Anup Kumar Keshri to be the best professor at BIT Mesra.

  • Professor Keshri himself is an alumnus of BIT Mesra and he was a student of the Computer Science Branch. Despite being in the CS Department, Professor Keshri was impressed by Professor P.K. Choudhary who did not belong in the department. His teaching abilities caught the eyes of Professor Keshri.
  • Professor P.K. Choudhary belonged to the Mechanical Department. He taught engineering drawing. 
  • Even though Prof. Keshri was not a student of Mechanical Engineering, he did a paper on Professor Choudhary’s subject in 1996. 
  • In addition to that, in spite of not being a student, Professor Keshri is sure that after some revision, he would be able to take classes in Mechanical Engineering.

He is thankful to Professor Choudhary for teaching him the ‘Language of Engineers’, on which Professor Keshri did the paper in 1996. He did not have to refer to any textbook for preparing himself for the paper. He wishes to be a teacher like Professor Choudhary.

A friend of mine who graduated from BIT Mesra was asked the same question. He does not think that BIT Mesra has gone down drastically. 

It has, according to him, neither gone down in quality nor moved ahead particularly, in the pace the country has been moving ahead. BIT Mesra is one of the many industries that has not moved forward significantly. 

  • Some of the reasons for this could be the lack of research, lethargy in administration, faculty not being up to the mark, the course structure being rigid, less connection(s) with the industries. 
  • A big reason for these inconveniences is the lack of leadership with a vision. Everyone, starting from the Deans to the VCs wish to take their institutions to great heights. 
  • BIT Mesra requires its students to write even scrutiny applications on a printed page and submit them in person. 
  • The lack of vision is predominant in the institution. This also includes mess bills, teaching methodologies, and internship procedures.

It would be very difficult for BIT Mesra to compete with institutes that are applying for the “Institutes of Eminence” tag by the Central Government. In the foreseeable future, BIT Mesra will be an above-average institution; chances of it being perceived as a premium institution are slim.

However, my friend does hope that someone takes charge of the institution and pulls it out of the many uncertainties it is facing currently.
